Rating: Summary: HOLES, HOLES,& LIZARDS Review: The ride on the hot , lonely bus was tiring. The bus was on it's way to Camp Green Lake. Stanely was about to dig holes for a "hole" year. HOLES is an excellent book. I never wanted to put it down. I loved how it went back and forth from the different times and years. Stanely is an exciting character to read about. He has to stay away from lizards, the warden, and Mr.Sir. Can he make it rain at Camp Green Lake?
Rating: Summary: From 8pm to 1am in one sitting to my wide-awake 8 year old Review: The second reading in two days was to my 8 year old son. I've NEVER read the same book twice in two days. We started at 8pm and just couldn't find a way to stop. When 1am rolled around we were both wide awake, and a bit teary eyed. The second read was better than the first because I was able to notice (and highlight) things missed in the naive first read. "If only . . ." there were more books like this in the world . . .
Rating: Summary: HoLeS Review: The shinging star is a book to remember .Holes a 5 star book in my opinion.Stanley Yelnats a young, out of shape boy is accesed of stealing Clide Livingston's ( a famous baseball player ) shoe. Camp Green lake , or Jail that is the question for Stanley to answer .Later on stanley is in camp green lake digging holes five ft. deep and five ft. wide. Stanley the "Caveman" is forced into group "d" where he meats his soon to be best friend Zero... . Zero is a lonley and homless child who is accused of knowing nothing ( thats were the name zero comes in) As zero runs away Stanley is faced a a tough question ... to go or to saty.
Rating: Summary: Camp Nowhere Review: The story about Holes is a boy that goes to camp nowhere. He went there because of his behavior. The reason why I liked that book is because Stanley Yelnats runs away through the desert and he eats onions. Also when he finds a wrecked boat and stays in there until his friends find him.
Rating: Summary: A Good, Well-Interweaving of Story-Lines Review: The story has already been well-described by the editorial reviews and other customer-reviewers, and I dislike redundancy; I will focus simply on why I gave this book five stars. This book contains multiple storylines, covering several generations, that gradually spiral in to converge at a single point in time-space. The writing itself is not complex, and the book flows quickly, but the merging of the different storylines adds a complexity that matches the Harry Potter books. I liked this aspect because it helps young readers really see cause-and-effect in action, how any action has ripple effects, and how we never act in a vacuum. The main character is well-developed, and the supporting characters are generally well-developed. This book is a fun read, along with being thought-provoking.
Rating: Summary: a book to reckon with Review: The story has clues that make you predict what would happen next. The ending is short, not leading you into enough detail. The story has a good beginning. The first sentence of the book is "There is no lake at Camp Green Lake". I like this book because the number 3(three) always pops up. I rate this book as a 4.5. I read this book 2 times. Each time I read this book, I learn more about the plot.
Rating: Summary: Holes Summary Review: The story Holes is about a young boy named Stanley Yelnats who is a poor kid from the inner city. Stanleys family has a histroy of bad luck, so he is not too dicouraged when he is wrongfully accused of steeling a a pair of five thousand dollar shoes. He is given a option to goto a detention center insted of jail, he takes it and soon he is off to camp green lake. That is what I guess you chould say sets up the story for the action and suspence. I think the author did a very good job of blending tall tale into this story. This book is a quick good read, I recomend this book to anyone who is interested in young adult books.
Rating: Summary: Awesome book Review: The story is about a boy named Stanley Yelnats. He was acused of stealing a pair of famous shoes. The police gave him a choice he could either go to jail or to Camp Green Lake.To find out what his choice is and all the adventures he has with his friends read this book. I loved this book.
Rating: Summary: Holes Review: The story is about a boy named Stanley. He steels some shoes so the judge says that he has to go to camp green lake. But this camp is not a regular camp; it's for bad people who have done bad things and for this punishment they have to dig a hole for how big the shovel is. I think they put a lot of details and you will never stop reading Holes. So if you like reading books read Holes. I really enjoyed it. I think you will too!
Rating: Summary: Not what I thought it might be. Review: The story is about a kid who gets sent to court and then out to a boys camp for a crime he did not do(stealing a pear of shoes). He meets some kids out there, becomes bubbies with them, and near the end makes a break for home with one of them named zero.Being a fan of jail break stories, the book sounded pretty good. Boy, was I wrong about that. The story was totally unbeliveable, is over done, and makes no scence at all. I should have thought more about what I was getting into. I could see where a little kid would like this, or someone who dose not think about the realism of what there reading. This book had lots of holes in it.
