His No-Good-Pig-Stealing-Great-Great-Grandfather! This book is fantasic!!!! When Stanely is charge with theft he has to go to Camp Green Lake. This is no Girl Scouts! This is a charater improvment facltiy! In Texas there used to be a lake called Green Lake. One day it dried up complety and no water could be found. From a peaceful pinic place to a charater improvment facilty there has always been somthing weird going on at Green Lake. Louis Sachar has outdone himself. This book is great! It is the 2nd one on my favorite book list! The 1st is Harry Potter. I think the next book I will read is "There is a Boy in the Girl's Bathroom!" by Louis Sachar too. This is great! Rating: Summary: Part mystery, part comedy¿thoroughly fascinating. Review: The way Stanley Yelnats figures it, he's a magnet for bad luck. His whole family is. It's the fault of his no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather. But that's another story.Stanley's latest bout of bad luck-being falsely accused of stealing his schools star basketball players used sneakers-has landed him at the misnamed Camp Green Lake-which isn't a camp and has no lake. Camp Green lake is a juvenile detention center for boys whose "warden" has an unusual scheme for teaching her wards character-they dig 5 foot by five foot by five foot holes in the desert every day. Stanley and his mates in D tent--Zero, X-Ray, Armpit, Squid, Magnet, and Zigzag-figure there's more to this digging than "character building"-why else would the warden be interested in being notified if "anything interesting" gets dug up? Louis Sachar's Holes is part mystery, part comedy-and thoroughly fascinating. Peopled with wonderful characters-especially the D Tent crew-this is a funny and suspenseful novel that captures the imagination with riveting prose and action packed, occasionally frightening, adventure sequences. It's suspenseful enough that it might be a bit too intense for some younger readers in the recommended reading range. The book was the winner of the 1999 Newbery Medal, the 1998 National Book Award for Young People's Literature, and the Boston Globe Horn Book Award.
Rating: Summary: O.K. not the best Review: the wayside school series was way better. I suggest the wayside school series instead of holes

When zero woke up he felt sick because of the sploosh the he drank. So stanley gave him onoins. To find out what happens read the book! *\o/*
Rating: Summary: it was an okel-e-dokele book Review: There are so many exciting events in the story. But I did not like this book too much because it did not really interest me. Stanley is the main character. I think it was very confusing. This book is not for girl scoutts.
Rating: Summary: A fittingly unusual and unique wonder Review: There are some books that are impeccably plotted; others make perfect use of irony. Some earn accolades for creativity. The real literary rarity is when there's a book that's not only constructed almost perfectly, but that's also cleverly ironic and quirkily creative. _Holes_ is that kind of book. Of course, it's not for everybody. Some people prefer realism. Others won't give a book so bizarre their willing suspension of disbelief. There's no doubt that _Holes_ is strange--most "realistic" books don't involve fate and destiny so directly. But it's *meant* to be strange. This does not, however, mean that most people won't enjoy it. True, it is a children's book, but for those willing to suspend disbelief, it's a delight to read and surprisingly absorbing. I picked _Holes_ up in a fit of boredom and stayed awake well past midnight to finish it. (And I don't usually like children's books this much: I'm going into the ninth grade, and my tastes range from _The Princess Bride_ to _Watership Down_ to _Interview with the Vampire_.) _Holes_ has been compared to the Harry Potter books, and they are in some ways similar. However, where J.K. Rowling's work has freshly clever ingenuity and delightfully vivid characters and action, Louis Sachar's latest book has a remarkably well-constructed plot and a simple yet powerful moral. In _Holes_, Sachar displays a valuable ability to make a rather odd plot seem compellingly simple and easy to follow. Everything adds up, even the coincidences. Furthermore, Sachar finds room for some symbolism even while intertwining the two main plotlines of the story. The author's effort and talent shine in _Holes_. For those willing to take on the unusual story, it is a wonderful book.
Rating: Summary: Conflicts Stanley Faces Review: There are three conflicts Stanley faces. These conflicts are going to Camp Green Lake, getting along with everyone, and trying to survive without water. The first conflict is going to Camp Green Lake. It is hard for him to go because he isn't going to know anyone. The second conflict is trying to get along with everyone. When he gets to camp, they give him a nickname, which is a really good sign. The third conflict is surving without water. Stanley had many problems or conflicts through this story. There are three conflicts that I thought were the main ones. They are going to Camp Green Lake, trying to get along with everyone, and trying to survive without water. The novel Holes is an exciting book about two boys named Stanley and Zero. A boy named Stanley Yelnats was sent to a camp called Camp Green Lake for stealing shoes. Stanley met a boy named Zero, who could not read or write. Later the boys were compelled to leave camp.
