Summary: Holes, a young teens book.
Review: Holes,by Louis Sacher, is a great book that should be read by young teens because of the main characters coming of age. For example, about half way through the book, Stan went after Zero even though he knew there was a chance he might not make it. Stan's realization that risking his life to save another is an example of great maturity. Also, when Zero told Stan that he was the one who stole the shoes and threw them off the highway. Zero knew that it might ruin their friendship, but he thought Stan should know the truth. This is a have-to-read book for young teens every where.

Summary: Holes - The Attention Getter
Review: Holes,which is by Louis Sacher, is a veryinteresting book. It gets your attention and keeps it. I would recommend it to kids in the fourth,fifth,and sixth graders because it would most likely be too hard for third graders and up. I think Louis Sachar will be the next Roald Dahl because of his creative and comedic writing style. He has the skills and talent to become a great writer even further more than he alredy is.

Summary: Critical Review of Sachar's Holes
Review: Holes--a masterfully written novel that does nothing short of defining the word "intertwined." With such an addictive plot, Holes clearly demonstrates Louis Sachar's abnormal genius in the line of chain-of-events planning. After reading the novel, one would be frightened to play a game of chess with him. The novel provides an adequate dose of humor, emotion, suspense, strife...and an enjoyable overdose of irony.
There is one aspect of Sachar's writing that readers cannot overlook. He carefully makes the reader step out of the present-time storyline in order to provide a much-needed history of the Lake and Stanley's family. It is almost as if Sachar is directly addressing the reader in a Harriet Jacobs-esque style. Although this method is not excessively appropriate or preferred by many readers, it is nonetheless necessary, and Sachar uses it in the utmost professional manner.
Moreover, Sachar does not leave the reader "digging" for answers that the story does not provide. Instead, he provides a separate section devoted to answering these questions. It is the job of authors to bring works to firm conclusions, and many writers do not complete their jobs because their stories are open-ended. Sachar does not only do his job, but he also does it well by finishing the book with a conclusion that seems to scream, "This is how it is!"
As a future English/language arts teacher, I know for sure that Louis Sachar's Holes will definitely be placed on my students' reading lists.

Review: Holes. A great book about boys who dig holes all day long. The star of this book is Stanley Yelnats, a fat kid that always get picked on. When he was walking home on day he was hit in the head by a pair of shoes. He was framed for stealing them from a homeless shelter. They Shoes were his idol's , Clyde Livingston. He was sent to Camp Green Lake, a camp for bad boys. He makes alot of friends and gains alot of respect. It also tells the story of how his great-great grandfather was cursed by a gypsy named Madame Zeroni.

Review: HOLES. It may not seem like the best Title for a book, but you can`t judge a book by it`s cover. Holes is Over 200 pages long, but you will blow through it.

Stanley Yelnats is just a regular boy that gets framed about stealing shoes and gets asked by a judge if he would like to go to jail or to a summer camp. Thinking that the camp would be fun he chose to go to "Camp Green Lake." As he gets to the camp he meets many new kids that have done other crimes the first thing he says that no lake no green and notices that this will not be fun. The next day he has to dig a hole that is 5 feet deep and 5 feet wide he finds a fish fossil. Now its pretty hot out its 95 degrees in the shade but you really do not need to know that because the warden does not let anyone go in her shade. Finally after alot of days of hard working in the sun and so many days at camp Green Lake he gets to go home and they change Camp Green Lake to a good camp. See how it goes for Stanley and read about the new Camp Green Lake.

Holes, is a book about a boy that winds up in a reforming camp for a crime he didn't commit. The camp is called Camp Green Lake. The only problem is there is no green lake! You are required to dig a hole that is five feet wide and five feet tall. The worst part is that you have to do it in the hot sun. This is a great book. If you want to find out if Stanley gets his charges dropped or if he will be stuck in Camp Green Lake, then you will have to read the book.

I like the book Holes because some boy named Stanley Yelnats got arrested because of some shoes he found. Instead of going to jail he went to a camp. The name of the camp is Camp Green Lake. The reason why I liked this book is because I like mystery books. Stanley almost dies in the end. He and his friend decide to dig one more hole and he ran into a lizard that can kill him. They find something. If you want to know what happens you should read this book. I recommend this book.

Another great book by Louis Sachar. "Holes" is a book about a boy, named Stanely Yelnats, who got in trouble and had a choice to get sent to a camp or go to jail. He had never been to a camp becore because his parents could not afford it. So instead of him going to jail he choose to go to camp. This camp was called, "Camp Green Lake." Once he got there and met the "Boss" he asked, where's the lake. The Boss got a kick out of that. "Camp Green Lake" is not a camp for fun and games, it is a camp for kids who have done something bad. The boys requierments were to dig a hole that is 5 feet wide and 5 feet deep (one hole for each boy). Stanley and the rest of the boys at the camp were to dig that hole and they could not eat or take a shower untill the hole was dug. Once they accomplished the hole they could go take a 3-5 minute shower and get soemthing to eat. Stanley had to do this for about 1 year.
One day Stanley got sick of digging holes and ran away. After about 1-2 days without water or food. Stanley reached the top of a mountain and found berries and water. He spent the night on that mountain and the next morning he headed out to try to get home.
Stanley accomplised to get home and he also got everone else that was at the camp home to their families.
Stanley had defenitly learned a lesson!
I really liked this book and would recomend it to anyone... young and elderly.

The book is about Stanley, a boy who got accused of stealing an Athlete's shoes. He was sent to Camp Green Lake to built the characters that he lacked. However, Stanley was innocent, he found the shoes, he didn't steal them. He went to Camp Green Lake anyways and made a lot of friends. Later on he ran away to find Zero, his friend that got banished by the camp. After that, Zero and Stanley came back to dig a treasure. Will they find it and encounter what is by it?
I like this book because of its adventures. Stanley and Zero ran away from Camp Green Lake because they wanted to kill them. Zero even said," Just leave me and go." to Stanley. However, they got saved by some wild onions that Stanley found at the mountains. Later on they went back to the camp to dig for a treasure and sure enough, they found it. They also found some yellow-spotted lizards, a poinsonous animal, around the treasure chest.
What I don't like about the book was the Warden. She was a very mean person. She even told Mr. Sir to shoot them and Mr.Sir said," The lizards or the kids?" Now that's really mean to me. However, they didn't want to disturb the yellow-spotted lizards so they didn't shoot.
My favorite part of the book is when Stanley dot skinnier and when he made a lot of friends such as Squid, Zero, and Armpit.( These are just the kid's nicknames.) At the first time when he met them, he was very shy. I remember when I first came to school, I was very, very shy. I know how that feels and it doesn't feel good.
