Summary: John Grisham won't be knocked off his perch anytime soon
Review: James Patterson takes John Grisham head on with a stupid legal 'thriller' that fails to thrill and contains just about the most stupid courtroom scenes I've ever read. It's obvious Patterson and that other guy didn't put much thought into this book, as the plot is highly unoriginal and improbable.

I love James Patterson, Along Came a Spider and Kiss the Grils were just about the best novels I've ever read. After those two, his novels have ranged from average to ...

The story, in short, is about this guy who seeks vengeance for his little bothers death, like I haven't heard that one before. The investigations that follow are a jumbled mess, and the fianl courtroom scene is ridiculous.

John Grisham won't be in danger anytime soon

Summary: Juvenile writing and plot
Review: ... effort by best-selling author, something I might expect from a teen-aged writer -- plot is ridiculous, dialogue is a joke. An easy and fast read, but hardly worth the time. How often do you read almost 200 pages and then decide it is not worth another minute of your time?

Summary: Life is too short...
Review: ... to spend it reading books like this one.

Dull from start to (yes) finish -- and written without any energy.

I would give it Zero stars, if this system allowed me to do so.

Summary: Just Awful
Review: I do not believe for a moment that James Patterson had anything to do with the writing of this novel.
If by chance I'm wrong,........please, please, Mr. Patterson, stick to writing of Detective Alex Cross.
I found "The Beach House" quite infantile and was highly disappointed.

Summary: A PAGE TURNER BUT...
Review: I love to read, and enjoy an easy summer read as much as the next person, but I can't recommend anyone buy this book. It's an ok book to borrow. I read this very quickly, had a hard time putting it down, but the plot was very thin. I also HATED the fact that each chapter was only 1-3 pages long!! Seems like an easy was to make the book look much longer than it really is and therefore justify the high price. Spend your hard earned money on a better book.

Summary: "Could not put it down"
Review: Every so often I find an author that I can't put down, James Patterson is it. This is a great book to curl up in a hammock or a beach chair with and sip an iced tea, the plot is original and flows well. The ending is GREAT.....

Summary: Fast, Fun, Entertaining, Ridiculous!
Review: Patterson is the master at keeping you reading with his two-page chapter gimmick. Beach House starts off a bit slow, but after page 100 you won't put it down. The only problem with the book is that the 3rd act is so implausible, it's hard to believe that someone at Little Brown didn't say something to the effect of, "You're going to have what happen in the third act?"

Maybe that did happen, and Patterson responded, "Well, in the third act I'm James Patterson, I can do whatever I want. Now go get me a sandwich, slappy!"

So, I recommend the book. Just know that it's more movie-reality based than REALITY based...

Summary: Did I miss Something? __ Dumb Book
Review: I really did not enjoy this book. Was a nice, quick read and had some humor....but at the end I felt like i wasted the few hours it took to read.

Really just kind of a twisted, "fixer-upper" book that short changed itself with an unbelievable solution.

Read it, but dont buy it

Summary: A largely predictible legal thriller
Review: The second collaboration between James Patterson and Peter De Jonge launches itself as a legal thriller and The Beach House, if anything is guilty of being predictible and out of platitude. A sophomore at Columbia University studying law, Jack Mullen is thrust into a labyrinth of corporate corruption when he sets out to avenge for his dead brother. Working as a valet for billionaire Barry Neubauer, Peter Mullen is murdered brutally at his Montauk Beach House but pronounced drowned by the local East Hampton PD. Tenacious to unravel the truth, Jack ignores harrassments and a retrenchment to gather the dirty evidence - but the surprise along the way is that Peter is more than what meets the eye...

The gulf between the rich and poor outlines the underlying theme - and the meting of justice at the epilogue albeit overblown and incredulous - warns of the equality of men under law. The miscreant is a menagerie of paedophilic perpetrators obstructing justice with their power and prestige. As a thriller, The Beach House does swerve along fast but readers accustomed to James Patterson's style may find it too slow for comfort and lack of surprises and twists.

Summary: On of Patterson's best
Review: A timely plot (rich, high powered people that are corrupt) mixed with lots of action = great book! I am a huge fan. You won't be disappointed.
