Summary: Great read!
Review: Once I started this book, I couldn't put it down! Great - I would recommend it to anyone who likes suspense and quick reads.

Summary: Disappointed
Review: Sorry folks but I couldn't get past page 50. Maybe I would have had a better chance if I were 20 years old.
Too shallow- even for a mindless summertime read.
And what's up with the author's obsession with vehicles??

Summary: The Beach House
Review: Not to fear: Just because megaselling Patterson has teamed up once more with journalist collaborator de Jonge (Miracle on the 17th Green, 1996) doesn't make the pace of this slick, ludicrous thriller any slower, the puppets any more complex, or the sentences any longer. The East Hampton cops say that proletarian nobody Peter Mullen stopped parking cars to smoke a joint and drown during zillionaire Barry and Campion Neubauer's Memorial Day Party in Montauk. Forensic evidence shows that Peter was beaten to death before he was tossed into the frigid water. But when Peter's brother Jack, a student at Columbia Law who's a summer associate at the Manhattan firm of Nelson, Goodwin and Mickel, and his old high-school buddies press the authorities to tell the truth, Rory Hoffman, a sinister thug called the Fixer, presses back, and soon the good guys are on the ropes. Jack's father suffers a fatal heart attack. Fisherman Fenton Gridley is nearly drowned himself. Suffolk County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Jane Davis is intimidated into perjury. Hairdresser Sammy Giamalva's 11:30 appointment cancels at the last minute. Jack's warned off the case by Chief Detective Frank Volpi, and his girlfriend, the Neubauers' daughter Dana, bails on him-though luckily, Nelson, Goodwin and Mickel's top investigator, Pauline Grabowski, who's just as smart and beautiful, is poised to take her place. When Jack's fired from the firm and Pauline soon follows, it's clear that there's no place the Neubauer tentacles don't reach, and the outcome of the inquest is a foregone conclusion. What isn't obvious, though in retrospect it should be, is Jack's scheme for making sure justice is done anyway. A vigilante pipe-dream topped off by toothlessly shocking revelations about characters even less substantial than the celebrity cameos: Dominick Dunne, Latrell Sprewell, Geraldo Rivera, and Billy "Mudman" Simon.

Summary: Bravo! A Fast & Enticing Read
Review: As fast paced & enticing as an old John Grisham novel. It's been a long time since I became so instantly engrossed in a book & couldn't put it down. The chapters are small & to the point with one surprise & twist after another! Will I remember the story forever? Probably not. Did I enjoy the read? Most definitely!!

Summary: Not as good as his others
Review: I am a huge James Patterson fan and I bought this book thinking it would be a great, suspenseful read. Well, I was disappointed in the lack of character development, especially of the main character Peter. Should we feel sorry for this guy? There were others in the book that really didn't even belong. Again, I have read better from Patterson.

Summary: Has some loose ends... but still a good page turner
Review: I read "The Beach House" within a day and a half. Textually, it was easy reading and, admittedly, I was intrigued from the first page. As the story unfolds, one really sees the true colors... dark, dismal and corrupted colors in this case... of the rich and famous. I actually felt compassion for Jack's loss of his brother, while at the same time enraged and disgusted by his supposed "poor little rich girlfriend", along with that of her immediate family, the attorney who defended them, and other supposed law enforcers who participated in their sick schemes.

The ending left some questions still unanswered as well as some loose ends that seemed to have gotten dropped by the wayside midway through the story. But overall, I would recommend this book if for no other reason, you get some good suspense along with a little romance.

Summary: Disappointing With No Credibility
Review: This was a really disappointing book. The plot strains crdibility to say the least and gets worse as the book progresses. The climax is totally unbelievable and there are so many loose ends that you have to laugh. Character development is so thin that you have to wonder if the book was based on a cartoon strip. Finally, while the book has about 350+ pages, the type is large, the spacing is generous, and there are so many blank and half pages that one could envision this "book" being written over a long weekend. Don't waste your time or money on this one.

Summary: Just OK
Review: The good -- This is a real page turner. I made the mistake of starting it before going to bed on a night when I had to work the next day. (oops!) It is a fast and quick read, rather like watching an action film.

The bad -- It is like watching an action film. The plot is a bit thin and asks us to accept a few things that just aren't quite believable. There is very little character development. The motivations of the characters are very simplistic.

Overall -- Just OK. I'd buy it in paperback or borrow it. It wasn't worthy of the hardcover price. If you are in the market for quick entertainment, then it is great. If you want a book with a little more complexity and sublety, this one strikes out.

Summary: This may be the WORST book I have ever read......
Review: I can't believe I bought this book!

There was no character development and a very weak plot. I felt like I was reading a sequel to a previously published book and I should know who these charaters were.

I feel like the publisher owes me a refund! Buyer beware!!!
