Rating: Summary: Hillary is Right On! Again..... Review: Hillary is a very important part of American history and she tells about it in an enchanting and useful way. I thoroughly enjoyed walking through those years with her. Republicans, especially those from the very right of the party, will hate this book because she is so right about the Republican right. Hillary shines light where it needs to shine and exposes some of the dark corners of our government. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in history as it happens. A great read!!
Rating: Summary: Not worth the money Review: This book definitely belongs in Fiction...Poorly written and far less than honest...There is nothing new to learn from this account.
Rating: Summary: Mrs. Clintons book was good until....... Review: I bought the book because it was 75% off in the grocery ile at a local store. I remember her blaming the republicans as a right wing conspirecy. However, she emphasizes sex and monica in the book quite a bit. Sex sells in America today. Reading wasn't bad but actually believing what was writing was difficult. I also thought the book was laughable at times. I don't recall her ever saying she loved or was in love with Bill Clinton, which I thought was kind of strange. Another funny things is she couldn't recall anything for the past 8 years, now the book. Its really laughable. A good book to read is by Charles Henderson, called "93 Confirmed Kills, the Story of Carlos Hathcock."
Rating: Summary: Brilliant Review: A brilliant book by a brilliant woman. The Democrats have women like Hillary Clinton to speak for them. The Republicans have women like Ann Coulter. How miserably sad for the right wing.
Rating: Summary: Very Good! Review: I found this book to be a very easy read, filled with information concerning Ms. Clinton's years in the White House. I knew that she was a busy first lady, but this book connected some of the dots for me, concerning the Clinton administration on the whole, and her own contribution to the administration. I highly recommend this book to others, like myself, who prospered in this country during the Clinton years, yet failed to see the big picture of accomplishments, both at home and abroad, through the mud splattered lens which we were forced to view through.
Rating: Summary: Living Fantasy Review: Many of us lived throught the "history" hillary purports to cover in her book. She seems to write about events that she could not recall a few years ago. Not worth the time or the money...
Rating: Summary: Ignore the Conservative hogwash and read this book... Review: Notice how the Clinton--bashers who give this book a bad rating don't even include a quote or point to a particular section of "Living History" to support their claims that this book is not worth reading. Very unreliable. Have they even read the book?"Living History" was very well written. True, the book doesn't reveal anything new, except that it is told from Hillary Clinton's angle. I think it was very brave of her to do this, considering the negative hype she's already getting from the right--wing. Then, again, this is a free country and every American is entitled the liberty of expression, including Hillary Clinton and the right--wingers who judge her so severely. One particular section of the book that I find interesting is the chapter, "Dare to Compete". While on a visit to a NYC high school in the Chelsea section of Manhattan, a student whispered in the Senator's ear, "Dare to compete, Mrs. Clinton. Dare to compete." I think this particular section, like many others throughout the book send a good message to women all over the world. It sends a good message about the courage to compete against all odds. This kind of message is present throughout the book. It doesn't take being a Democrat or a Clinton--fan to support this kind of message. For this, alone, the book should be given careful consideration, as opposed to being dismissed so easily like other critics with an anti--Clinton agenda have done. Toss the anti--Clinton sentiments aside for a moment and embrace the pro--women message in this book. I dare you to.
Rating: Summary: A Meticulously Crafted Campaign Speech. . . Review: I read a few random chapters at the bookstore and found it such a crock I put it back on the discount display. Well, what's to be expected from a fiercly ambitious wanna-be, gotta-be president babe? A genuine tale of her "real" life??? Come on now. It's obvious to me that she not only hired four writers to do the work, she hired a slick PR firm to tell them exactly what to write!! EVERY word in this book is a meticulously crafted campaign speech. She wanted to wring Bill's neck!!?? HA - What a laugh. She knew exactly what was happening in his busy love life, one Twinkie at a time. Her only worry was how the publicity might affect her political ambitions. So she picked the old "stand by your man" trick - you know - the sympathy angle that might work with naive women voters. And throw in the "vast right wing conspiracy" defense to clinch a few fence-sitters. This joke tells it all: Bill and Hillary drove back to their old neighborhood in Arkansas for old time's sake. When they stopped for gas Hillary recognized the gas station attendant as a former high school sweetheart. Driving away, Bill asked; "Hey Hill, heh, heh, what do think your life would be like if you had married him? Heh heh." "Well Bill, he'd be president and you'd be pumping gas."
Rating: Summary: Selecting a Hillary Review Review: I couldn't put down the book for the first 100 pages, and did so only to take my mom in for hip replacement surgery. I read Mom highlights from the second hundred pages before she took the post-op darvocets. She loved it, too. Then I noticed some reviews. What the heck were they reading? Number one rule on selecting reviews: When the reviewer loads the start of her review with meta-review gossip, hype or personal angst, pitch the darn thing; just read about content. So, my real review will come when I finish the book. This note is a simple heads-up to self-serving, fluffy, side-tracked reviews. Read the book! Gotta go to the hospital....
Rating: Summary: Woman who does it all very well Review: The book is the story of the life of a woman who really did do it all and is doing it well. I loved her midwestern roots, school in the east, travel after causes, going to Arkansas and on to the White House and still going. It is well written and very easy to follow. There is nothing dull about this woman. The stories are great and so are the pictures. I am seriously wondering if the people screaming lies read the book.
