Summary: She's got Political Chutzpah
Review: The thing about this book that folks need to remember is that it is a political animal. She is a sitting Senator that hopes to be re-elected. Also she will probably run for President in 2008 or 2012 (depending on how other Democrats fare in those elections). So, she had to skate a lot of thin lines on issues. It couldn't be a tell-all book because she still has a lot to lose. If she were say 75 years old, and at the end of a long career, it could be more of a tell-all. But, this is a woman that will be in the public eye for maybe 20 years to come. That's a long time, especially in politics. So, she tells some nice stories, uses pretty sophisticated, descriptive language, talks about issues without making too much of a committment on specifics - while at the same time remaining true to the values of the mainstream Democrat that she is. On Monica, she seems very enigmatic, and she probably always will. This is because she's a political person. If she was a bus driver (and not a political, public figure), she would have more easily been able to just divorce Bill or take a very long separation. That would have made sense to the average person given her interest in women's issues and children's rights. But, she chose a political, public life, and in politics, these issues can be finessed in her favor. Over time, her ideas on how Bill was an horrible husband, but a great President, may make more sense. Over time, folks will look at her inconsistencies regarding marriage, fidelity, it-takes-a-village, women's rights, do-as-I-say-not-as-I've-done behaviors as less of a liability and more of an enigmatic eccentricity. And, ultimately, if she follows through on being a good politician, fighting the good fight, perhaps uniting the Democratic Party, etc. then, folks will really forget about the Monica history.
So, this book is good, not great, in that it encapsulates a period in her life that gave her a lot of grief and also a lot of happiness; and it provides a spring board for a new chapter, or book, possibly called, living history Part II, My Life as a Senator (or My Life as the First Woman President). I actually think that's the book that will really go down in history.

Summary: elitist garbage
Review: Living History is just a rambling speech that attempts to appeal to the reader's emotions, leaving out any substance. It's also full of blatant lies and exaggerations.

Review: Fact or fiction ? Although this book is supposed to be factual, it's difficult to believe because of the author's image.

Summary: I don't like her, but admire her b/c I am a working woman.
Review: I am not a Hilary Clinton fan at all. I only bought this book because of my curiosity of HER side of the story and needed a new book for my commute to the office. Though I do have much doubts about her actually writing this book, you can definitely see her thoroughness, poised stature and careful choice of wording throughout the 534 pages. She recounts everything with such details, that I sometimes get lost in all of the name dropping (A tactic she may have used so people mentioned would buy her book and boost sales). In instances where she mentions Bill and his presidency ("Bill was miserable, and it was painful to watch someone I loved so much hurting so deeply"), I began to wonder if she felt sorry for him or for their political career. However, I don't believe it is my business to comment on their marriage.

As a working woman, I really admire Hilary Clinton through her book because of all the decisions and life lessons she has had to learn. I am a woman who chooses not to change my name within my working world, earns much more than my spouse, is very independent and at the same time have very traditional values. Through her book, you realize the struggles that women face around the world and come to the realization that you can't have everything without a lot of personal sacrifice. Even with her struggle with hair styles she makes a valid point for many women - looks play an important role for women in business where people can easily judge you with one glance. When reading this book you really need to separate the history lesson from the biography. I recommend reading this to understand this woman's personal struggle on balancing children, work, ambition, sacrifice, marriage, tradition and modernism.

Summary: Great book with TRUTH!
Review: Finally, we have a book that will shed some light on Bill, Hillary and Chelsea. No more Republican lies and cover ups. Hillary sets the stage and story straight from the get go. Her openness is so warming. Over the years we have all seen the "nasty" bashing that the Republicans have set forth on the Clinton Administration (as if this current Administration does not have its own problems - which seems that no one really wants to challenge as they have in the past), and Hillary shapes her biography in way that allows you to see her side of the story.

Hillary may be a politician and she may (I hope if not in 2004 then 2008) be the other Clinton answer this country needs. She shows how the truth never really got out correctly in the media and the lying that the Republicans did and still do.

A vendetta was set forth by the Republicans for they knew that the country had gone in to a sink hole of debt from two mishandling administrations. Hillary shows us that the issues that she and her husband brought to the table and provided to America is one that was so welcomed. The economy grew (as now it has fallen - admit it), employment picked up (have you seen so many people living under overpasses in life now that Bush is in office), taxes were handled (the current get fix quick by Bush will only hurt us in the end), Hillary shows in detail why she ran for Senate, and won.

Hillary shows that the Clinton Administration did not hide its people, its Vice President (by the way, where is Cheney? Do we even have a VP?), and that whatever went wrong, it was either brought forth or after acknowledging it had light brought upon it (where now we have nothing but lies covering up).

Hillary showed me that her charisma and wit was there - she made her mistakes, opened her mouth and said the wrong things at the wrong times, but we all do - and for her to finally place all that took place in childhood, in the White House, the road to and winning of the Senate, she has finally set the record straight and we can all move on. Private lives should remain that ... private.

It has been a regular policy for First Ladies, Presidents and some Vice Presidents to write a book after their term, and I had to laugh when and still to this day, the Republicans are trying to ruin the Clintons by telling people to not buy Hillary's book (as they know that she speaks the truth), and how they have these stupid playing cards out with her photo on them saying that she is evil (we need one of Bush, as he is the evil one here). It is known that the Clintons were a people family and administration and this is why they were loved. Not cold like what we have now. So why this "big push to keep her quiet"? Answer: FEAR!

I have seen so many negative books come out and heard the negative bias talk on TV from Hannity, Riley and others and how they twist people's words. Hillary did a great job with her fifth amendment of freedom of speech and I thank her for it.

Talk about a book that will be filled with lies, I will wait for Bush's book to come out ... just like his dad's, it may be just "letters".

Great job, Hillary!

Summary: Doesn't really feel like her
Review: I struggled through it. The writing is fairly chicksy, and I don't consider that has to do with whether it was written by a man or a woman, but clearly it was written FOR women. I am curious about who really did write it. I believe writing is the most revealing activity, and I'd like to know who was revealing themselves to me, because it certainly didn't seem to be Hillary Clinton, who impresses me as tough and filled with a bristling, hidden rage. I wouldn't mind feeling that, but it's just not here. This isn't her book in my opinion. Maybe someday she'll let her hair down and show herself, but I guess that won't be while she has whatever ambitions she now has.

Summary: Great Book, by a Great Person!
Review: Hillary is an amazing woman who has had an extraordinary life. I love her and this book is great!

Summary: The Real Hillary?
Review: I think this book is great. Does Hillary have political motivations for making herself appear in the best light in this book? Probably, but how many people right memoirs that make themselves seem like bad people? I did not know the details of Hillary's life, or even many of the details of Bill's presidency. It is an interesting look at the presidency and the state of the nation from the First Lady's point of view. This book is so much more than the few pages where she talks about the Monica Lewinsky debacle.

Summary: Disappointed. I expected more candor.
Review: I expected a true and honest accounting of Bill and her rise to power - an accounting of the scandels as well as the accomplishments. Never got a sense of what kind of a person she really is. Or maybe I did. She came across as cold and uncaring. It's unbelievable how little she says.

Summary: Run for President and Save us from the Anti-Christ!!!!!!!
Review: One thing to say about this book Hilarious. I love the Clintons to no end when they were in the White House and after this book I love them even more. Though I never knew Hillary Clinton was a Republican and how she was sickened by the Nixon administration. How the spectrum was changing from Moderate Republicans to Conservative. I enjoyed reading her college days and learning about an oh so Viking dude known as Bill. The book shows how both were just pretty much ordinary people well all except that they went to Yale for christ sakes. Though reading this made me feel like they were just like you or me. Nevermind the White house Crisis that is only one part of this book. Read it as a whole. Laugh your brains out at the picture of Bill Clinton looking like a member of Black Sabbath or BTO. Enjoy.
