Rating: Summary: Living History? Review: It takes alot of balls to for Hilary to call her book "Living History". What history? Sex in the White House, renting the Lincoln Bedroom out, those notorious coffees, and scandal after scandal? If your idea of history is what goes on on any cheap soap opera then I guess she did live history. This book is nothing more than a way for Hilary to keep her name out there for a possible 2008 presidential run and to make a few bucks. It used to be that liberals stood for something. They now do what they are told and think the party line. A party line written by the likes of Hilary. I used to like Hilary so much, thought she was pretty and smart. Not any more. Buy the book for amusement, I might, but don't take any of it seriously.
Rating: Summary: Hillary Clinton is a joke! Review: I can't believe Simon and Schuster paid her that much money for a book she didn't even write. She has done nothing but cause trouble in Washington and do everything she can to undermine President Bush and American security. She needs to get over herself because who really wants to keep hearing about how bad she and Bill have been treated when they have brought it all on themselves. As far as her becoming President, Give me a break. Hopefully, New Yorkers will see the errors of her ways and not even re-elect her to the senate. We need elected officials in America who care about the people not what they can do for themselves. This book should be titled, "feel sorry for me." Sorry Mrs. Clinton, not on your best day.
Rating: Summary: Go Hillary! Review: This book already deserves 5+ stars just to balance out the garbage published by other "commenting" customers, who really believe the lies, lies, lies sold to them by the rotten Bush administration.
Rating: Summary: Smoke and Mirrors Review: This book is a rambling elitist appeal to the ultra-emotional. She talks about the Lewinsky scandal, but says nothing about more important matters. She also compares herself with Nelson Mendella.
Rating: Summary: Don't Jump To Conclusions Without First Understanding Review: My 5 stars stand out like a sore thumb, don't they. Why did a non-Republican/non-Democrat/non-Partyaffiliate like me give Hillary Clinton's book 5 stars? Let me tell you why.1) The book is nicely written and well edited. It's a very professional job. 2) I think it was a courageous decision on Hillary Clinton's part to allow all the "mud", that had now mostly settled to the bottom of the trough, be stirred up again, just so she could give her side of the story in order to clear the "muddy water" in the trough, once and for all. 3) Reasonable people would expect her to, indeed, put things in the most favorable light she can. But, likewise, fair-minded fellow human beings with love in their hearts, not hatred, can surely see that she is trying to give explanations for her past relations and behavior that are philosophically honest and in accordance with very personal philosophical and religious beliefs about right and wrong, based on her innate moral sense and on her education acquired through a lifetime of philosophical reading. Like her or not, I have to say, she did an intellectually excellent job. 4) It's hard to get inside the head and heart of another person unless you understand that person's philosophy, or understand philosophy, period. And, so it is with Hillary. To understand her, I suggest you do a short review of the philosophical underpinnings that molded Hillary's thinking by reading Norman Thomas Remick's book on philosophy and America called "West Point: Character Leadership Education". It's an easy, short, education that will help you better understand the deep moral, religious, and political explanations Hillary Rodham Clinton gives in "Living History". Polemicists should not just slough this book off. Irenicists should become informed. Everyone should give Hillary Clinton a fair chance before you decide about what she says, like I'm trying to do. That's the American way. Let's keep that the American way. Don't jump to conclusions without first understanding.
Rating: Summary: Living History Review: I was just writing to inform you that some misclassified this book; it should be listed in under fiction, fantasy.
Rating: Summary: Not Worth The Paper It Is Printed On Review: Nearly seven years ago Simon and Schuster had an instant classic when it published Frank McCourt's "Angela's Ashes". Now it apparently has another in Hillary Clinton's "Living History". Yet it is a pity that Clinton's prose isn't nearly as insightful or as witty as McCourt's. Although there are some who have questioned the veracity of McCourt's account of his impoverished childhood, I know for a fact that all of the allegations are false. The same can not be said for Ms. Clinton's distorted view of hers and her husband's lives, since there are credible reports from writers at the Washington Post and other liberal publications pointing to misstatements and errors of omission with regards to her recounting of her husband's misdeeds while he was serving as President of the United States. Those interested in a more accurate, thoughtful examination of her career and her husband's should read the books written by Ann Coulter and the late Barbara Olson - the latter unfortunately a victim of Bill Clinton's dismal foreign policy record with regards to bringing Islamic terrorists to justice.
Rating: Summary: Good Read Review: If you read the Clinton memoir with an open mind knowing in advance that some scores are going to be settled, you'll find the Clinton's reasoned, progressive agenda on every page. Like the President, Hillary Clinton's style of leadership is thoughtful and measured, scholarly with regard to study of policy, so utterly different than the Republicans in power now (whom she trashes effectively and mericlessly in this book including the Rhenquist court).
Rating: Summary: Propoganda Review: First of all,let me state I am a democrat. Secondly,I am ashamed of what the Clintons have done to the democrat party and the low ,sleazy political tactics they have made acceptable in todays politics. Third, Amazon.com should be ashamed of itself for not warning people before clicking on a cover enlargement that the viewer may toss their cookies at the site of Hillary Clinton occupying a third of their browser screen. Skip this book.Garbage.
Rating: Summary: Be afraid. Review: I haven't read the entire book, just skimmed a friend's copy. There's really no need to read all of it, since it is nothing but prevarication and propaganda. At least one reviewer below said no Democrat could win in '04, least of all Hillary. That kind of thinking is a mistake. There is much that can happen in the next 17 months that could seriously weaken GWB: terrorist attacks on U.S. soil, continued weak economy, etc. If he becomes vulnerable, Hillary will jump in and take her chance. Even if she believes she has only a moderate chance of winning, she'll still run -- in order to set herself up for an even stronger challenge in '08 after GWB's inevitably weaker second term. As incredible as it seems to those of us who see this woman to be a lying, manipulative, opportunistic, power-mad person -- she could actually become the president of the United States. It's time to get frightened.
