Summary: Wally Lamb has done it again!
Review: Wally Lamb tells the story of Dominick Birdsey, a middle-aged man whose identical twin suffers from schizophrenia. Throughout the novel Dominick is learning to accept his brother's illness and trying to discover who he is by looking to the people closest to him and finding out who they are. As the reader you are drawn into Dominick's world of love, anger, confusion, and frustration.
Do not let the size of this novel intimidate you. I found myself disappointed when I reached the final page! Wally Lamb has once again created a masterpiece.

Summary: Unexpectedly excellent
Review: My beautiful wife, whose name appears as author of this review, is a fan of Oprah Winfrey. I, however, am not. Having read House of Sand and Fog, which was inane at best, I expected another of Oprah's Book Club selections (this one highly recommended by said wife) to be similar. In this case I was greatly mistaken. Wally Lamb has managed to weave complex story lines and multiple characters into a very cohesive novel. One would expect three dysfuctional generations on two continents to be a little confusing, but Lamb keeps it together. I have read a lot of Gore Vidal, so I'm used to forgetting who's who and why they're involved, but Wally Lamb develops each of his characters so thoroughly that when they reappear one wonders what they were doing in the meantime.
For a sometimes disturbing journey into the mind of an unfortunate man with a very bad family history, I'd say it doesn't get any better than this. Besides, it's got a happy ending!

Summary: Psychology and Psychological Health
Review: Of course, this is a wonderful, moving novel, as many of you know. From a clinical psychologist's perspective, I found this book satisfying for a number of reasons. The book includes vivid pictures of schizophrenia, twins, abuse, depression, narcissism, cultural issues, effective clinical interventions, and personal growth. It paints a dramatic picture, but it also gives readers a more general image of how we can improve our own lives in sophisticated ways.

Summary: Wow
Review: I first read this book two years ago. It was powerful. Since then, I find myself thinking of the characters often. I even dream about them. I have now read this book six times, and every time I read it I find it more wonderful. Highly recommended.

Summary: I know This Much Is True
Review: This book is by far one of the best books I have ever had the opportunity to read. After reading both "She's Come Undone" and "I know This Much is True", Wally Lamb has rapidly become one of my favorite authors. This book should not only be read by people who read for pleasure, it should be a literature requirement for graduating from highschool.
Wally Lamb's exploration of the human mind is both fascinating and captivating. There are not many authors that can turn a 900 paged epic into a page turning experience. I was able to better comprehend the emotionality connected to brothers and specifically twin brothers that are strikingly different from each other in everyway other than looks. We walk with the main character Dominick through a childhood that depicts one boy trying desperately to be like and also not be like his twin simultaneously. He denies his similarity to his brother while he craves the attention that his brother receives because of their uniqueness. He deals with a constant feeling of inadequacy and attempts throughout his life to compensate for this feeling. Dominick has the rare opportunity to become intimately connected to his deceased grandfather through a manuscript written before his death. Please do not deprive yourself of reading this novel.

Summary: Well Worth the Hours of Lost Sleep
Review: As a new mother, I should have spent my evening hours catching up on laundry or just sleeping, but there were nights that I could not put this book down. This is one of the best books I've ever read. It was long, but just long enough. I can't even begin to express how powerful this book is. I read She's Come Undone and I really enjoyed it, but this book tops that in affect and sheer volume. I have to put it in my top five along with Angela's Ashes and Cold Mountain.

Summary: Lamb does it again!
Review: I must admit, I was intimidated by its length, but the story, the family, I will not forget. I will miss Thomas, Dominick, Dessa, Ray and even Domenico. It was well worth the time spent!
Lamb brings mental illness and its impact on families up close and personal. Great book! I can't wait for his next!

Summary: A wonderful book with great characters
Review: At first I was skeptical about reading this book because of the length. Once I began I realised what a great literary talent Wally Lamb is. This book is about the effects of the mentally ill and the society that excludes them. I think this will always be one of my favorites and the reason being is because of the development of character. He lets you know the characters well. The character that I deeply enjoy is Doctor Patel. I will not go into much detail about the character but the main reason was that I liked her caring disposition. Wally Lamb had obviously done innumerable amounts of research involving this novel. This book is a must read. Parts are funny, parts are sad, and parts make you think about your life and family. Out of all the authors I have read in the past, he would be the only one I could think of who could write a 900 page novel and make it true to the reader. He develops his charactes in such a way that he dives into the innermost part of their mind and tells us what they are thinking. You must realise that this is an extrordinary literary achievement and he belongs with writers such as Steinbeck, Hemingway, and the evermost famous F. Scott Fitzgerald. This is an accomplishment on modern literature and once you start you cannot stop.
