Summary: This is one of the most touching books I have ever read!!!
Review: I read this book in one day!!! From start to finish I was HOOKED!!! By the end of the story I just could NOT stop crying my tears of sadness and joy!!

I think this book was so beautifully written and I am even more impressed that a man could write with such heartfelt sentiment as a woman expects her first child. I really felt like this book impacted me as if I knew each of the characters in this book personally.

If you like a sad- but- nice love story, read this book.

Summary: James Patterson's breakthrough into the romance genre
Review: It is now 10:42, 5 minutes after I finished bawling my eyes from reading this piece of artwork. Now I sit here trying to think of the words to describe this book. Let's start off in the beginning for me, shall we? I have read a few of James Patterson books, most of them the Alex Cross series. I have read 1st to Die, Roses Are Red, Violets Are Blue, Cradle and All, Kiss the Girls, and now this one. Add this to the list of great Patterson novels. Now, my mom and my social studies teacher recommended this to me. This book, however, is a romance novel. I was going to think that it wouldn't work because it's James Patterson. I like romance novels, but I didn't think that this would work out right. I was very wrong. Let me start with the story.

Katie is a successful business woman who works in a publishing company. Matthew Harrison falls in love with her, and he seems lik the perfect man for her, but disappears mysteriously leaving only a diary and his feelings behind. As Katie reads the diary, she realizes the reasoning behind his leaving and other information that breaks her heart and makes her realize that she had been irrational by judging him too early. All of this leads to an ending that will make you cry and surprise you.

I have too many feelings and I feel for a 12 year old boy that I am a bit soft, as I cried at this book. James Patterson not only describes people and events down to the t, but he also has the ideas and profesionalism that I wish I had. He can put the most beautiful words into his writing and it gives it more flavor. I don't know how to describe it, but the beautiful writing got to me. Overall, I would highly recommend this book to anyone, from the James Patterson fan to the romance fan, to the average reader. The ending, to quote my teacher, "is emotional and sure to make you cry".

Summary: Suzanne's Diary For Nicholas
Review: This is the worst book I have read in a long time. Sophomoric writing, cliques, end evident from the start. What a waste of time and money!

Summary: Not your average Patterson novel...
Review: After reading "1st to Die" and "2nd Chance" by James Patterson, I was prepared for another gruesome murder mystery that you can't put down. I was shocked when i read "Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas". In this spectacularly written tender story of a young woman and her love for her family, you begin to see a softer side of the bestselling author of "Along Came a Spider".

Katie Wilkinson is a unique young woman who has just lost the love of her life, Matt. After he left her, he sent her a worn diary with a note taped to the top begging her to read the diary. As Katie turns the pages, she learn's of Matt's perfect wife, Suzanne, and how she lovingly tells the story of her life so that their baby son, Nicholas, could read it in the future. How could Matt ever betray such a wonderful woman and fall in love with me? Katie wonders. The answer lies within the diary...

I could not put this book down. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll feel love, you'll feel hatred, but most of all, you will never forget this marvelous novel "Suzanne's Dairy for Nicholas".

Summary: A Simple Love Story. 4.5 stars
Review: Patterson has taken a huge leap in genres, and by the reviews I see, his readers are running hot and cold. I personally loved this book and I know for a fact that love like this does exist, if only it could happen to everyone at least once in a lifetime.

The style of the book is not only as a diary, but it is laced with short entries about the life of Katie who has been given the diary to read. The majority of the story takes place on Martha's Vineyard, a small island off the coast of Massachusetts. It is the story of a perfect love, a perfect family and everything one could only hope for in life. Patterson is acutely sensitive in his ability to write as a female character telling her story.

Without ruining it for the reader I will say that the book is an emotional roller coaster, but a ride I wouldn't have missed for anything. Right from the beginning we are left to wonder why Katie is reading Suzanne's diary and we know that there is much more to this story. Thank you Mr. Patterson for a wonderful book and a loving piece of humanity. Kelsana 9/8/01

Summary: This book is not as bad as it might seem at first glance!
Review: For a year now, this book jumps out at me from the bookstore shelves, as I'm always looking for Martha's Vineyard fiction, but the premise just seemed too corny. (Not to mention that I didn't know it actually WAS set, in part, on MV)
You know right from the begining that Katie, having read the diary, is left touched beyond words, so I was immediately drawn into the question - "What is in the diary?".
I liked that the story was not just a diary, but interspersed with details of the life of Katie, who is in possession of the book. Even the diary chapters read more like a novel, and I was left wondering why on earth a mother would write some of these things to her baby son?!
It is an easy, quick read, and a little over the top in the way a love story tends to be, somewhat in the vein of any Nicholas Sparks novels. A great read for a day at the beach.

Summary: i can't believe most people liked this book!
Review: I thought that this book was not very good at all. I, an 18 year old girl, felt like it was below my reading level. It was written for 13 year old teenie boppers. The characters are not complex or described well at all. The plot is predictable and not very interesting. I read the book in about 2 days because I was bored and it just bored me more. Anyone with intelligence would not like this book. Go for a Nicholas Sparks book if you want a romance, it at least is a little more in-depth.

Summary: The Saddest Book Ever Written!
Review: After reading this book, I can not wait until Patterson's next book, Sam's Letters for Jennifer, comes out! I cried once I finished reading this book, it was that moving. It is very hard to put this book down because you get to read a personal diary about a mother's life and then read about someone else's reaction to it. This book is definitely a good summer read, it's easy to follow and understand, the story plot isn't corny or cheesy and it's written beautifully by Patterson. If you ever have the chance to read this book, TAKE IT!!! This book is one of my favorites, but brace yourself because the ending may take your breath away...

Summary: You won't believe James Patterson wrote this...
Review: You really won't be able to believe that the same person who wrote Kiss the Girls & Hide & Seek wrote this book. At first I wondered if I'd have a hard time believing this love story...but I didn't at all. I was immediately drawn into this story. I could not put it down!

Unlike any of his stories before, this is a story solely about love. Of course, there is the mystery about the diary that the mother Suzanne wrote for her son Nicholas- what happened to her? So as you're reading, there's an urgency to know what will happen, as well as you're enjoying the sentimental romance. Neither disappoint.

This was one of the best romance books I've read in a long time. It was a perfect size, quick reading with a story that leaves you begging for more. When I finished I cried in a way that a story has not made me cry in a very long time. You must pick up this book- you won't regret it!

Summary: Every bit as ordinary the second time around
Review: I despised this book the first time I read it, but recently I picked it up to see if my judgement had been clouded. It hadn't. This book is so awful I feel compelled to write this review to *prevent* people wasting money and time on reading it. Its every bit fluff, pop culture reference name dropper, thin translucent characters and awful narrative and grammar that can possibly be,

I've read *fanfiction* and tenth grade essays more fulfilling than this novel. I won't go into the plot--its not worth it. I'm not a cold hearted person at all, hey one of my favourite novels is Judy Blume's "Tiger Eyes" (and i'm 19!) this book just made me laugh, and NOT in the good way. I'm sorry to say but only simple minds can be pleased by this very, very ludicrous, watery effort by James Patterson, a doctors office/airport/beach read at best.
