Rating: Summary: You will treasure Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas Review: I needed a book for independent reading, and one of my friends recommended this book. As a teenager, I had never read any James Patterson's books but I decided to give it a try. I started and finished this book in 1 day. I couldn't get enough of it. It's the story of Katie Wilkinson. Her boyfriend Matt Hamilton suddenly breaks up with her and she has no idea why. To help explain it, Matt sends her a diary titled "Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas" which explains some of his past because he never talked about it with her. As it turns out, Matt Hamilton was married to Suzanne, and Nicholas was their son. However Suzanne had a heart attack when she was 35 and has had problems ever since. As it turns out, Katie is also pregnant with Matt's child. I'm not going to be a spoiler, but this book will touch your heart with the story of Nicholas, Suzanne and Matt; and with the story of their love. There is also a happy ending for Katie too. Highly recommended book by James Patterson, deserves 8 out of 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: I LOVED this book. I didn't know if I would when my mother reccomended it, but I love it. You have to be ready when you read it though. You might get thrown for a loop.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Wonderful! Real Page turner! Review: I am used to reading Patterson's murder mysteries and finally picked this book up one day. This is the complete opposite of his usual books. Patterson has proved he can write anything! Once you start, you won't want to stop! I read it in 2 hours. His format keeps you "hooked" the whole time. If you like stories about love and life you will love this book!
Rating: Summary: Not the usual genre, but superb Patterson none the less Review: I really had no interest in reading this book for a long time as I just assumed that it would be a 'chick flick' type book. I couldn't find anything else around to read one day and having read and enjoyed every single other Patterson book, with the exception of Miracle on the 17th Green which was terrible, I thought why not? I mean I was right, it is a 'chick flick' type book but it is thoroughly enjoyable. Granted it is also predictable, I mean it obvious what is going to happen to the title characters before the book is finished as it is a diary written by one character for another that is given to a fourth character by a third character so you do know, but you don't know how, that's the main thing. Even though these events are expected Patterson's skill makes them quite moving and well before you reach them you are already hooked. This is a short novel as well, so if you've got an hour and a half to kill before or on a flight or want something that you'll be able to start and finish while lying on a beach, then this novel is ideal. Be warned though once you start, you'll be hooked and won't be able to put this masterpiece down. I certainly don't read much of this genre, well any really, and prefer the serial killer, Alex Cross type novels to this sort of thing but even though the topic isn't something I would usually pick up I will admit this book is written just as well if not better than all the ones in my preferred genre. This obviously isn't an Alex Cross novel, so if you're going to pick up a book then bag it because it isn't one then why waste everyone's time. Like I said this isn't the type of book I am normally interested in but I couldn't put it down. If you give it a try then you won't either.
Rating: Summary: A tad bit corny, but understandably so Review: I'll admit that after a while I was beginning to think the diary entries from Suzanne to her son were a bit corny and repetitive, but then I realized that those mushy thoughts are what goes through all mothers heads and hearts when they gaze upon their baby. Not all choose to write them down is all. A heartwarming read about what we all would want from a courtship, marriage and motherhood, but do men like Matt really exist?
Rating: Summary: "For those who have loved & lost & learned to love again." Review: I have read this book cover to cover about half a dozen times, and have cried over it every single time, even knowing what was coming. James Patterson writes this book awkwardly, and perhaps that's what makes the read so endearing. The writing is simple and honest, without pretty words and complicated analogies and drawn out emotional monologues to make a reader feel like the writer is simply working too damn hard to touch their heart. What James Patterson has done is written a beautiful story as simply as possible and allowed us, his readers, to come up with the emotions. He has forced nothing. He tells a story--a beautiful, heartbreaking tale--and leaves the rest of it up to us. Katie is a career woman in love with a poet, Matt, who has a secret that can tear their relationship apart. Matt leaves Katie a diary--his wife's diary--and soon unfolds a story of the best kind of love. And of second chances.
Rating: Summary: LOVED IT! Review: It has been months since I read this book and sitting here today just thinking of it makes me cry. Call me silly or sentimental I don't care. This book took me places I never expected from James Patterson. This story was so well written. You are swept up into this diary and left eager to turn each page. It's heartbreaking, it's emotional and it's worth every minute you spend rushing through it to find out what happens. This for me was an emotional weep fest that I wasn't sure I'd like, but once I began I was swept away. Grab your tissues and camp out for a while. Be prepared for your family or friends to ask a million times why you are bawling your head off because trust me it is worth it. This is a book that will leave you in tears just remembering it later. Every tear shed is worth it!
Rating: Summary: Never liked books until Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas Review: I've never really been a reader, but once I started reading this book, I could'nt put it down. There were so many surprises and twists, that I never knew what was coming next which inspired me to keep reading. I finished the book in 3 days! I wish James Patterson would write more like this one, I think he has a lot of talent. I'm afraid to try to read any other books now because nothing will compare to this one.
Rating: Summary: I loved it Review: It only took me two hours to read this fantastic book. I could not put it down.I laughed, and smiled, and cried. I would recommend this book to everyone.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Book Review: Once you ever start reading this book, you will not be able to stop. This coming from someone who doesn't read James Patterson novels. Great book to read on a cold day with a box of tissue (a must have) and a warm blanket.
