Summary: COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY
Review: I honestly cannot believe that anyone could remotely like this book. It was poorly written, sappy, predictable, and downright boring. The sickeningly sweet love letters to baby Nicholas made me want to vomit. The writing was so poor that I could not believe that any editor in the world would allow this book to be published. The first paragraph of the book was horrid, and it went all downhill from there. After a while I wondered if this was a bizarre joke by the author to see what kind of really bad writing he could get away with publishing. After reading for a while, you realize that every page is the same sickening garbage repeating itself. I am a well-read mother of four. This book is an insult to anyone's intelligence, and the author's vain attempts to pull on my heartstrings were completely wasted. Don't waste your time on this book, it is truly worthy of the trash bin. Do you really want to read 266 pages of this: "Nick, you little scamp, Every moment with you fills me with such incredible wonder and happiness....you have good taste-for a guy. You love to look at pretty things- trees, the ocean, light sources, of course. You also like to tickle the ivories on our piano, which is so cute...anyway, you are such a joy. I treasure and hold close to my heart every giggle, every laugh, every needy cry". Gag me.

Summary: Keep the Kleenex on hand!
Review: There's been enough of the story itself written in all the other reviews (637 as I type this). So instead of the plot, I'm going to instead talk about my reaction to this story.

My introduction to JP was the page-a-minute "1st to Die." So when I heard he had written a romance, my reaction was something like, "James Patterson doing romance? What's next, a gardening book from Tom Clancy?" It just seemed so un-Pattersonesque that I was worried the book would be a disaster. Nevertheless, one of my co-workers absolutely BEGGED me to pick this up, so I took her at her word.

You know something? I needn't have worried, and my co-worker has impeccable taste.

Maybe I'm just overly sensitive, but this thing had me bawling in at least a dozen places. And about half of those times, I had to physically put the book down. I was literally crying so hard I could not keep reading. When I got to the end of the diary, I must have cried for something like ten minutes. It was just that touching. If you're overly sensitive, you might need a family-size box of Kleenex to get through this.

But don't let me give you the impression that this is all and entirely sap. It's not. There's plenty of stuff to make you laugh, a bunch of warm fuzzies, and a couple of places where some quiet life lessons are oh-so-gently taught. There are also a couple of places where the pages do go by in a hurry: Mr. Patterson has brought some of his thriller sensibilities to the story, and the plot never drags as a result.

I wouldn't call this a sad book on balance. It's ultimately a thoughtful, engaging, gentle, and uplifting tale for those who've loved, lost, and had the courage to love again. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Summary: A romance to enjoy if that is your thing...
Review: I don't generally read romance novels. Since I am a fan of James Patterson, I wanted to give this one a try. It is a bit cheesy, but if you are a romance fan, than I suspect it will be just what you are looking for.

The story was sad, and I don't want to give the plot away in this review. Suffice it to say, there was foreshadowing of what would come; so there really were no shocks in this story. It was well written, and I would recommend this story to the die hard romance fan. I will be inclined to read Patterson's other novels, rather than a romance should he chose to write another.

Summary: An Inspiring Story About Love.
Review: "Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas" is an inspiring story about love and affection. James Patterson does an excellent job writing this story, and it is almost impossible to put down. The book is about a very dedicated woman named Suzanne, who gives life her hardest and won't settle for anything else. She is a doctor and is making a lot of money. That doesn't satisfy her though. Although it seems like she has the perfect life,Suzanne realizes the biggest part of her life is missing, someone to love and cherish. Suzanne finds herself trying to over come one of the biggest obstacles in her life (I'm not telling you hahah!!) In order for Suzanne to feel at peace, she moves back Martha's Vineyard where she grew up. While living at Martha's Vineyard , Suzanne finds someone who she can relate to named Matt. She discovers that she is madly in love with him. Suzanne and Matt get married, and she is insanely happy. She soon realizes that she is going to have a baby named Nicholas. Suzanne starts writing a diary for Nicholas so he can learn how much she loves him and Matt. Suzanne is so happy being a mom and wants Nicholas to have only the best. Soon she will realize that she is battling a huge obstacle that could alter the lives of Nicholas and Matt. This book is great for people who like to get lost in stories that leave you breathless.

Summary: A Story Of Love, Hate And Life.
Review: "Suzanne's Diary For Nicholas" is not the type of book that James Patterson usually writes, but captured my attention right from the beggining. James Patterson is a very good writer, and can write some wonderful stories. Form just this one book I read, I learned to love his books. Patterson usually writes mystery books such as "Roses Are Red" to "The Code Book-The Science Of Secrecy From Ancient Egypt To Quantum Cryptography." I haven't read any of those, but just by reading that one book, makes me want to read many more of his books. There are many different ways Patterson captures your attention towards his stories. He lets you decide how you feel, about the characters, about the situation, and about what you feel is right. you want to agree or not, he allows you to believe in what you feel is right. Throughtout his books he give tons of clues and details to the problem, enough to make you think, but without telling the ending. He makes you, the reader, figure things out and put it all together. That' what makes his books so good. I would recommend this book to people who love romance, suspence and suprise ending.
The story is told where a women named Katie falls deeply in love with a man who loves to wrie poems, Matt. Matt has to leave Katie, and leaves her something to tell her the reason why. His wife's diary is left for Katie, and all the secrets unfold.

Summary: Cheesy, but I loved it!
Review: Maybe it's because I haven't begun to read any of Patterson's other novels, but I was hooked on this from the very start. Normally I am a true crime, suspense girl, but this, along with a few of Patterson's other books were given to me by a family member. I think everyone needs a dose of emaotion from time to time and this one did just that.....sent me on a rollercoaster. I finished it in a matter of hours. I look forward to reading the other James Patterson novels.

Summary: Don't waste your time or money on this one!
Review: My book club picked this book. What a waste of time! We all hated it! Why on earth would you have a book with the main character dating 2 men named Matt? Unbelievable, predictable and boring. What was the purpose of the name dropping throughout the book? For example, Katie went to JFK Jr's wedding, or listing the book titles that a character owns. Was Patterson trying to make us believe that this was a true story? Any reader who is older than 12 will know from page 1 that this book is a weak example of fiction.

Summary: What sentimental rubbish!
Review: I admire James Patterson for writing a completely different genre from the norm, that shows courage and talent, and he doesn't do a terrible job.

I was just unimpressed by the layers and layers of shmaltz and sugary sweetness and bitter sweetness (my teeth hurt) of the inevitable--woman has heart problem, has wonderful brave husband, beautiful gorgeous gorgeous child lives on perfect island, smiles, laughter, perfect, tears, happiness, friends who are perfectly placed to be *there* no interruptions, problems, and just descriptions of perfect apartments, pets, houses...

In one word: unrealistic.

I couldn't believe the world James painted here. Instead of writing about the simple, subtle complexities of true happiness and love (done wonderfully by authors such as Anita Shreve, Charles Frazier, Judy Blume or Barbara Kingsolver) he wrote a paper-thin story better suited for Mills and Boon type authors. There was no depth to ANY of the characters, least of all Katie and all the pop-culture name dropping she did. There was no *real* problem for Katie, or Matt (how many Matts were there anyway?) just the timely, perfectly situated Suzanne mystery (though not hard to figure out)

Has about the same contents as cheeze wiz, or popcorn. Not for the reader looking for something with a bit of oomph or a real display of love. I recommend the authors above for that.

Summary: READ THIS LOVELY STORY!
Review: I started this book on audio, in the car, and of course--could not stop listening, etc... I had barrowed it from the Library. I will, of course, buy it because you can't just read it or listen to it once. It is a wonderful story. READ IT!! You will love it.

Summary: Heartbreaking love story
Review: This book is a powerful story of love, death, and romance. The author, James Patterson, captures the essence of a match made in heaven with Suzanne, Matt, Nicholas, and Katie. The story begins with Katie talking about how she was dumped by her completely perfect boyfriend the day she was going to tell him that she was pregnant. It goes on with the boyfriend, Matt, leaving a diary for her outside of her apartment door. This was labelled "Suzanne's Diary For Nicholas." The diary told about how in love Suzanne and Matt are, their amazing marriage, their backgrounds, their sweet child (Nicholas), and their wonderful life in Martha's Vineyard. All while Katie reads the diary she wonders if Matt was cheating on Suzanne and his wonderful life, or if there was a different reason for why they were together. This book is a great example of how love should be and how marriages should be. This is the only book that I have ever cried in. I recommend this book to young adults or older, for there are some intimate parts, but not many.
