Summary: quite a fantastic book
Review: The most amazing thing about the characters in this book was that they were totally independent. "When you're a farmer, you raise what you eat, you raise what you wear...." They didn't have to buy a thing, but they had to work from dawn to dark, 365 days a year, to achieve that independence. How rewarding it all must have been!

The stories of Almanzo's family are wonderful for adults and children, boys and girls alike.

Summary: Goes to show we are not so superior
Review: "Famer Boy", the third book by Laura Ingalls Wilder in her "Little House" series, tells the story of her future husband, the uniquely named Almanzo Wilder. There, Almanzo lives on a farm with his parents and siblings, including Laura's future nemesis (and sister-in-law) Eliza Jane.

Like all the Little House books, it tells us in rich details how life is like just a couple of generations ago. Reading this book, and all the Little House books for that matter, made me realize that, for all the advanced technology we have today, we are not so superior to our forebearers.

Just reading the chapter on Almanzo's mother making candles made me realize that people back then are almost totally self-sufficient. They knows how to make the 101 little things that we take for granted today just by walking into a store.

All that aside, "Farmer Boy", like all the Little House books, is a timeless classic.

Summary: Farmer Boy
Review: I like the book Farmer Boy, because I really like the way the author wrote the book. It's easy enough for almost anyone to read. I also like all the details and the pictures. It gives really good details and there's some good pictures in it.

The best part of the book is when Almonzo's dad gave him a half dollar for helping plant potatoes. Almonzo's snotty cousin, Frank was surprised and jealous. The worse part of the book was when someone tried to break into Almonzo's home. A stray dog saved all their lives.

The story elements that I like most and are most vivid to me are the characters and the setting. The setting was in the 1800's, and I like to read how people use to live in those days. All the characters have totally different personality's. For example, Almanzo's sister, Eliza Jane is bossy while his other sister, Alice is nice and isnt at all bossy.

Summary: A different point of view on life during the period
Review: This is the only book in the series that doesn't tell about the Ingalls family, but about Almanzo's life as a 9 year old on his parents' New York farm.

The main interest in this book is that unlike Laura's 'settler' family, this is a story of a well to do farm family, who lives in a populated area. This gives the readers a different point of view of the lifestyles of people in that era, and one of a boy, not a girl, at that.

Summary: A Wonderful World of Pioneer Life
Review: Have you ever wondered about what it's like to live in a humungous farm in New York state? Little Almanzo and his large family, including his two older sisters, Eliza Jane and Alice, his 13-year old brother, Royal, and his generous mom and dad, have all had this experience full of hardships. Determined and hard-working, little Almanzo is always ready for his daily chores. Growing up, he becomes more and more familiar with farming whilst plowing the fields, planting crops, feeding the stock, hauling wood, gathering fresh berries, help his mom cook, and is always ready to help anyone who needs him. Of course there's always some time for fun...especially when it comes to Almanzo's passionate love for horses and colts. Enrolling you in the amazing world of pioneer life, Wilder surely has the skill of carefully pulling you into Almanzo's thoughts. This 372-page book was very serious to me because everything that happened to Almanzo and his family, troubles or new experiences, also happens in my family!

Summary: A first rate veiw of growing up in pioneer days
Review: Laura Ingalls Wilder touches on her husbands life growing up in New York on a big farm. Almanzo Wilder is youngest of four kids and the story starts with him going to school for the first time. Through a year the reader views his life. From shaving ice to shingles, sledding to yolking calves, from getting fifty cents to two hundred dollars.

It is clear in this book that Laura Ingalls Wilder had not lived the story and it does not go as smooth as the ones in which she did. The story itself is not that great but the life style is. I really enjoy all the Little House books and really recomend them.

Summary: Farmer Boy is my favorite book in the series
Review: I liked Starlight's name. I loved the part where the kids were on their own and made ice cream and Almanzo threw the blacking brush at Eliza Jane because she was so bossy, and it hit the wall. Later Eliza Jane covered it up so their parents wouldn't see. So she could be nice sometimes. I liked the part where Almanzo's dad gave the whip to the teacher so he could beat up the bad boys, and 3 of them ran out the window because they were so scared. This book was my favorite because I like Farmer Boy. I wanted to listen to all the books in the series to see what would happen. I couldn't wait for Laura and Almanzo to meet. Right now my mom is reading These Happy Golden Years.

Review: This book tells you a story of Almanzo Wilder's childhood and what he did for fun during his time. Laura Ingalls-Wilder wrote nine books that I know of all in the Little House series. This book is a biography about Almanzo's life,Laura's future husband. I would recommend this book for someone who likes biographies and likes reading about people's lives in the past. I think this is a great book for all ages because it has such a appeal to a large range of people. This book always has you at the point where you just can't stop reading.

Summary: The Life of A Farm Boy
Review: When my friend gave me this book I thought it wouldn't be any good, but when I first started to read it, it was. Later on in the book, it started to be interesting. My favorite part is when Vernando beat up his cousin because he was taunting Star and Bright, his calves. This book is about Vernando's life on a farm as a young man. I didn't really like the ending because it really wasn't any good. I would of put that he got married to this lovely woman and had three children, and he was very successful as a banker.
