Rating: Summary: Lame, Lame, Lame, Lame! Review: All flash and no content. What a waste of money!
The author's approach is demeaning and insulting to anyone
with any level of intelligence. The book panders to the
naive--I threw the book away.
Rating: Summary: Great Book for Recent Grads Review: As a recent college graduate with a degree in communications I felt confident that I would find a job immediately upon graduation. Unfortunately with today's economy I was told again and again by companies that they were on a temporary hiring freeze but would "keep me in mind". A friend of mine recommended this book to me. Upon reading it I was inspired to keep trying and to work hard to make myself stand out among the other applicants so my resume didn't fall through the cracks. I think this book is a great resource for any recent graduate entering the job market.
Rating: Summary: The Real Deal on the Real World !!! Review: Awesome!!! Too many career books for people starting out are out of touch or patronizing, but JobSmarts tells it exactly like it is. I used it to help me get a job during my senior year, and now that I'm working I still rely on it to get me through things at work. Get it.
Rating: Summary: The Must Have Guide for Twentysomethings Review: Bradley Richardson is the career guru of a generation. This book is the most helpful guide to careers ever written. It should be a required text for every college student. I can't even express how this book helped to give me direction during one of the most confusing and overwhelming times in life. I have actually been upset that it is not found on every "bestsellers" list of career books.
Rating: Summary: A Great Way To Get Started! Review: For those who don't have the benefit of learning from the mistakes of a friend or older brother who's looked for a job lately, this book provides practical information in a no-nonsense format. For someone who's looking for a job in today's downsized market place this should be required reading. It certainly helped me.
Rating: Summary: Not worth the money Review: I bought both the book and the tape. I wish I woud have
saved my money. Bradley Richardson is a smart aleck who
has an "I know better than you do" attitude. In reality,
there is very little of value in either the book or the tape.
Save your money
Rating: Summary: Bradley Richardson is a fake Review: I find it interesting to read the above comment that Bradley
Richardson became "President of his own company" at age 28.
Truth be known, he is president of his own company, but it
is just a company for hawking his book. He didn't get
promoted into the position, he simply appointed himself.
Not exactly the kind of "up-the-ladder" career success that
he's trying to convince you of. He's basically a fake who
is trying to sell a book with little or no experience on the
"I'm just like you" line.
There are much better books on the subject. Save your money.
Rating: Summary: A to-the-point comprehensive job search book! Review: I found JobSmarts for Twentysomethings to be informative, easy to read, and specifically targeted to beginning job-seekers. Mr. Richardson's writing style is witty and conversational. He bills himself as a twentysomething with a job-search style that worked for him and that's exactly who he is. I used this book in teaching several internship classes and it works well as a supplemental text. Give it a try
Rating: Summary: Good reference for first-time job seekers! Review: I found this book to be quite enjoyable and easy to read. The author gives examples of other people's past mistakes (including his own) and successes. Richardson gives great tips and an overall summary of how to go about landing that first job and what to expect once you start. I have been working at my job for one year and still refer to it from time to time. I highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Sorry, but don't waste your time Review: I hate to add my "two cents" to what is apparently a concensus that this books kinda sucks, but I have to agree that after reading about 2/3 of the way through this book, I'm pretty sorry I spend good money on it. I guess I was sort of attracted to the "for twentysomethings" label, but honestly it I can't imagine it would help anyone who has more than a high school education.
