Rating: Summary: Good but not Great Review: I was a little disappointed with this book from Ms. Lindsey. I usually read her books at least twice but I could not bring myself to read this one again. I expected more.
Rating: Summary: Total Nonsense, sub-par effort by a good romance writer Review: While reading this book, i really was wondering, what kind of a joke the author pulls on her readers. Even though the novel seems to fall into the historic romance category, it is totally anachronistic, with totally unbelievable relationships within and among the english/scottish societal classes. Nevertheless, it carries the reader with itself, as most of JL work does. The authors slopinness would have been okay, if she'd created a fresh and intricate plot, however the story is very predictable too. All in all, when reading this, you might find not a guilty pleasure, but a pleasure of a duped.
Rating: Summary: Love Me Forever Review: This is ROMANCE. Ms Lindsey wrote soem other books that i'm not fond of BUT this one was a true exception. I think mainly because of the characters, the lovable and teasing Scot, a real life man not those fictional heroes who like to go around and control their heroines and who think they know what is best for them. The hero in this book was amazing as well as the heroine. And the chemistry between the couple was awesome. That is what I always seek in a romance -- chemistry between the couple -- which many romance books fail in.WONDERFUL !!
Rating: Summary: A fitting sequel to Man of My Dreams! Review: This book was a juicy read. This book focuses on the rogue highwayman Lachlan introduced in MAN OF MY DREAMS, and adds an interesting herione. Their first meeting certainly isn't love at first sight, but gives a good starting point for the rest of the ride. The addition of a jealous female suitor, an ironic plot twisiting coincidence, and a new identity discovered all make for a read that is very hard to put down. Just when you think the story can't twist any more, another situation adds a laugh and layer to the story. There's more than one sub plot here, and each adds a rich thread to the book. If you liked MAN OF MY DREAMS this is a fitting, even a little bit better, sequel.
Rating: Summary: A Sequel That Is Better Than The Original Review: This is a sequel to Man of My Dreams, and it is a better book. In Man of My Dreams, we meet the Duke, Devlin, and Megan who becomes his wife. Towards the end of that book, they have an unpleasant encounter with Lachlan, the hero of this book. Ms. Lindsey teases the reader with wanting to know him better, and in this book, we surely get to do that. It is a wonderful story and different from so many others, in that the heroine of this book, Kimberly, is not described in breath-taking terms, she seems like someone to whom the vast majority of us can relate. She becomes more and more likable as the book progresses. Another really great thing about the book is the chance to find out what happens to Devlin and Megan, as well as his Aunt and Grandmother Duchy. There seem to be no wasted words or plots in this book, everything is tied together in neat packages in the end. It is a delightful story and well worth reading, with plenty of dry humor.
Rating: Summary: Where can I find a man like that? Review: I loved this book! This and Once a Princess have to be my favorites!! This book is a perfect example of the magic Ms. Lindsey is capable of. I love her other books but what's up with the spanking? Thankfully enougth this didn't have any of that. The characters are very loveable and their romance is very beliveable. Lachlan was soo sweet!I liked the return of Megan and Devlin whose romance in Man of My Dreams is hilarious. Overall Love Me forever is excellent and it's one of those that you can read over again.
Rating: Summary: LOVE ME FOREVER Review: In LOVE ME FORVER, Johanna Lindsey shows why she is one of the best romance writers ever. This book has passion, prejudice, revenge, confusion and comedy. Scotman Lachlan McGregor, head of the McGregor clan, needs to find a wife with a huge dowry to support his recently ransacked coffers. But he really wants to whisk away the Duchess of Wrothstone from her husband the Duke. Lady Kimberly Richards, while still mourning her mother's death, is forced by her father to find a husband, so that he can get her out of the house and remarry. Kimberly and Lachlan end up among a number of guests at a match making gathering. This "season" is hosted and put together by none other than the Duke and Duchess of Wrothstone. Both Kimberly and Lachlan develop an immediate and intense dislike of each other. One romantic and hilarious event after another occurs, and everyone leaves with something and someone different than they'd planned. This book is excellent for romance lovers.
Rating: Summary: Old-Time Romance Review: I loved this book! Johanna Lindsey really knows how to write a great romance. This story takes you back to the 19th century when romance and marriage where a whole different story from this day and time. This is one of the most romantic "fairy tales" I have read. The character's are written very well. I fell in love with Lachlan, the minute he enters the story. I thought Kimberly was so unique and without a doubt, most charming and ladylike. Megan and The Duke are simply the most enchanting host and hostess. Kimberly's father, Cecil, could take a hike for all I cared, and in the end, he actually does! I won't say "how and why", you have to read this!!! Lindsey had me so drawn into this book, that I felt like I was actually there, I simply could not put this book down. If you have never read any of Lindsey's books, now is the time to start, especially if you love a good ole fashionable romance that takes you back in time. This was an uplifting novel, I can't wait to read her others.
Rating: Summary: A Good Read Review: This is a much better book than Man of My Dreams (where Lachlan was first introduced) just because the characters are more developed. Lachlan's character is more three dimensional than most male characters of this genre--it shows his sensitivity, his humor, and vulnerability without missing the fact that he is a totally alpha male. Kimberly's character on the other hand had just the right mixture of spirit, temper and timidity expected in females during this era without making her into a shrew or making her weak and submissive. The only quibble I have of this book is the sheer number of coincidence(s). First, that the nephew of Devlin's aunt who needed assistance in finding a wife turns out to be Lachlan. Second, that Kimberly happens to arrive at the same time as Lachlan looking for a husband--although one of my friend insists this means "fate" needed to seal the romantic angle. Third, Kimberly's soon to be stepmother turns out to be the long lost stepmother of Lachlan. Finally, the revelation of Kimberly's real father and the scene with Nessa were not really vital to the story and could have easily sunk the book--as it is I merely found these a distraction from the two main characters. Luckily enough, these work for the book especially since Ms. Lindsey is such a strong writer. If you need a good book to pass the time this one is a sure bet--it has the requisite conflict and the right amount of romance to make you sigh and believe in happy ever-afters. If you're looking for tortured souls, and agonizing moral dilema that stirs the sould pass this one up--there is none in here. All in all its an entirely enjoyable book with very likeable characters.
Rating: Summary: Sequel to Man of My Dreams Review: Kimberly's father has arranged for her to stay with the Duke and Duchess of Wrothston so that she may find a husband. Her heart is stolen when Lachlan MacGregor, the Duke's previously unknown cousin by marriage, arrives. A year before, Lachlan had actually kidnapped Megan, the now Duchess of Wrothston, believing himself in love with her. He still intends to win her over despite her marriage while plain Kimberly pales in comparison to the Duchess' classic beauty. But something strange is happening. Kimberly is blossoming before Lachlan's eyes. While whispering words of love to Megan, he becomes drawn to Kimberly. He imagines himself making love to her and in a night of passion does just that. Now he must marry her, but Kimberly will have none of that. She refuses to marry a man in love with another woman, a man who is obviously out for her money. Or is he? Kimberly and Lachlan sizzle in this warm, funny, enchanting tale of two people finding each other despite what they might believe otherwise. Kimberly is a wonderful character: courageous, yet occasionally shy, warm, humourous, and intelligent. Lachlan is a rogue thru and thru, but as he is drawn toward Kimberly becomes a devoted and attentive lover, a man that any woman could love forever. This is one of my absolute favorites by Lindsey and I consider it one of her best.
