Rating: Summary: A Magicial Journey of Love Review: Having just visited the part of Ireland that Ms. Roberts is writing about, I can only say, that her descriptions of the people, the villages and the scenery are truly authentic. She has captured the magic of the country and the charisma of the people. The two lovers, Aidan and Jude are warm and wonderful. She had created charming neighbors and friends that interact with the main characters. This was one book that I could not put down and have been tantalized for the next book in the series after reading the preview. This is one book I am saving to read over again on some rainy afternoon. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Thoroughly enjoyed it Review: I did not find this book disappointing at all! I very much enjoyed the story and the characters. Nora Roberts is wonderful at taking you away to another land, and every time I read one of her books set in Ireland, I want to visit!
Rating: Summary: Stubborn story woven with folktales and dreams Review: My mom recommended this book to me by saying that it was about fairies and wishes and things she didn't believe in and couldn't relate to. My intial reaction was that it was far too fanciful for me, I read the synopsis on the back of the book and was less than intrigued. Fairies. Bah. Myths. Who cares since they aren't real? Magic. Do people still believe in that? Well, apparently I do. This book has the ability to appeal to the dreamer in anyone. The part of you that believes in friendly ghosts, energetic fairies and magic. The main characters--Jude Frances Murray and Aidan Gallagher--are two of the most stubborn people I've ever read about. At times I wanted to jump into the fray and give them both a good smack. Which is another reason I enjoyed this book immensely. Beyond revitalizing a part of me that I thought was lost, it made me care about the people involved. I can't really ask for more from a book.
Rating: Summary: A Great Disappointment Review: I have throughly enjoyed all of the series written by Ms. Roberts. But I could not get into this one. I found it slow reading and it could keep my attention. I hope the next one in the series is better.
Rating: Summary: Mystical - Kept my attention Review: Loved it. Aiden and Jude kept my attention throughout the book. I loved reading about Irish folklore and their superstitutions. Can't wait to read about the rest of the Gallagher siblings.
Rating: Summary: Interesting story. Review: As one who does not usually read paperbacks, I must admit that I thoroughly enjoyed following Jude and Aidan in Ireland and even listened to the audio version. I am looking forward to the second book in the trilogy. I am definitely not interested in the supernatural or faries but did not find it so overpowering to dissuade me from finishing the book. Jude's growth throughout was interesting to read.
Rating: Summary: Mystical Ireland and Romance Review: Nora Roberts invites you to read a legendary tale of modern day Ireland. You could feel the magic in every word. I especially loved the pub. I felt like I was in the room with the characters and had a pint in my hand. I smiled through the entire book. Waiting anxiously for the next books!
Rating: Summary: Funny, Romantic, Fantastic Review: This was such a fun book to read...I could hardly put it down. It is filled with interesting characters and the dialogue is so quick and amusing. Jude is such a deep and fun character. She is very serious and tries so hard to hold back her true nature and personality. It is neat to follow her journey of self discovery. Aidan is so dashing and light hearted, he is the perfect compliment to Jude's no nonsense character. The peripheral characters are also fun and there are many moments in the book that had me laughing out loud. I am thrilled with Nora Roberts' new trilogy and am anxiously awaiting her the second and third installments of the Gallagher Family.
Rating: Summary: Put it back on the shelf Review: This is so bad it's scary. Do people really want to read this stuff? It has no substance, no plot, no dimension, no reality, no sense, no strong women, and throws women back in the dark ages. The main woman character never has no more than two thoughts in her head other than, wow what a cute big strong Irish guy, I hope he falls in love with me or little helpless me will fall apart. Her other challenging thought formulation is - oh there isn't a microwave in this cottage in Ireland - help I am on my own - oh look a stove - I might have to cook -ooh I can't handle it. Come on, we need a little more substance here, please, with these multimillion dollar sellers that are lining Ms. Robert's coffers.
Rating: Summary: She does it again Review: Nora Roberts just keeps getting better and better. The story is incredable and the characters almost become your best friends. Definately a must read!
