Summary: Don't diet - change your eating schedule
Review: I would bet there are tons of women like me who have gained weight eating the way I did, not much food during the day and compulsive cravings at night. Duh, why didn't I figure this out. I'm smart. Heck, I've purchased and read every diet book out there. Dr. Peeke's book and approach to eating works and it works effortlessly without crazy diets. I've lost over 20 lbs in 2 months without dieting. I merely changed my eating schedule to get most of my calories in before 5pm, no starches after 5pm and no food after 8pm. I even cheat at night a bit by having a piece of fruit or an ice cream bar occasionally. The big surprise - I'm not hungry at night - no cravings. Why? Because I'm eating properly and often during the day, starting with breakfast. Like most people, I'm not always hungry in the morning, but I make it a point to eat a good balance of protein, fat and carbs every 3 hrs from breakfast on until 5pm and I feel wonderful, no hunger, no wild cravings. Normal eating, normal living, no dieting, no binges. This is so easy, so liveable and the weight is dropping steadily.

Buy this book, follow the advice and you will lose weight while eating well. Such a simple change, but what a difference. I can't imagine not eating like this now. It's so nice to feel satisfied and not experience the compulsive night cravings any longer. This is a lifestyle strategy I can live with forever; only wish I had bought her book sooner.

Summary: Don't Let the Title Fool You
Review: This is an excellent book. Although the title is aimed for women that are 40+, anyone can benefit from the sane, intelligent advice given here. This book is not only about eating better it is also about taking better care of ourselves. For most people, their jobs are over at 5pm but Mothers start their 2nd jobs the minute they walk through their front door. No wonder most of us eat in the evenings in order to "medicate" ourselves (as Dr. Peeke states) to keep on going even though our bodies are desperate to wind down and relax for the evening. Please do yourself a favor and read this book. My life is so much calmer now that I'm eating better and taking time for myself. Thank you Dr. Peeke.

Summary: Getting real about your weight.
Review: This book is not about quick-fixes or miraculously changing your life. It is about facing the reality that your body is changing as you age, and that you must, for your health's sake, eat well and get moving if you want to stay around for awhile. It deals with managing the ups and downs of weight control, the good days and the days when you get off track. It offers reasonable strategies for getting back on track. I found it encouraging and helpful.

Summary: 2 Books to Shed Pounds and Debt
Review: As if impending menopause weren't enough to worry about. My waistline expanded and so did my debt. I saw doctors, debt counselors and tried to read several books before I found two that, believe it or not, really worked for me and my sisters.

Both this book by Dr. Peeke and 'SIMPLE MONEY SOLUTIONS' by Nancy Lloyd have really changed my shape, my net worth and allowed me to lead the life that I have always wanted...but had come to mistakenly believe was out of my reach. NOT TRUE! These two books gave us hope, helpful advice and proven ways to reach our goals. ...was right when I saw that they offered these two fabulous books as a package deal. They work great together and get the results you always dreamed of.

Summary: It works!
Review: If you're tired of fads, hype and failure and are prepared to make some small life adjustments this program will work. It's science - not magic - but the program's ability to protect from cravings and energy slumps feels magical! Dr. Peeke understands the lives of 40+ women. She's respectful, encouraging and realistic while building a compelling case for adopting specific life style modifications that can help stress overeaters (and undereaters) become more stress resiliant. This isn't a diet book. It's a guide to women's wellness. Do yourself a favor and read it - all of it. Good luck.

Summary: Fighting Fat After Forty
Review: It's o.k. The whole point of the book is that fat around your middle after 40 is mostly caused by stress eating. Book goes into too much detail of how the body metabolizes different foods which you'd need to have a medical background to understand. It was o.k., but told me too much I already knew.

Summary: Fight Fat After Forty
Review: Pamela Peeke, MD, has done post-doctoral research in nutrition with an emphasis on nutrition and stress in women. Fight Fat After Forty is based on solid scientific research. She has made the complex biochemical cycle of stress and body response understandable and has presented a program to help women deal with stress and lose weight permanently. The three pronged approach of nutrition, exercise and stress management should help most women--and men, too--take off and keep off weight.

Summary: Finally - a solution
Review: I have been to many doctors, asking advice about the various aspects of the "syndrome" as defined by the author. No one knew. And I just kept getting fatter and more stressed. Then I read this book and all my questions were answered. I've read it a few times now and almost have it memorized, so important are its concepts. I, like so many, have been on diet after diet. Now I feel I have a master tool to help me steer through the second half of my life, fitter, healthier, and with more vitality than I thought possible. It would be great to have a work book to accompany this book, geared towards helping people change their lifestyles.
