Summary: Joey Pigza Loses Control
Review: Joey Pizga's dad, Carter, doesn't live with Joey and his mom. Joey is going to meet him

for the first time. So they get in a car with their pet chihuahua Pablo and start driving to

Pittsburg.

Joey is an emotional boy with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and goes to a Special

Education school. He is always nervous and worries that something bad will happen. But his new

medicine has him feeling a lot better. In the book we can find out what ADD is like, and how it

feels to get past it with the right medicine. Now Joey feels he is finally ready for the big

meeting.

Carter wants to start forming a good relationship with Joey, and help him get along

in life. But maybe Carter teaching Joey is not the best thing. Joey finds out his dad is a lot

like himself, nervous about everything. When they play baseball in the park, Carter pressures

Joey and bugs him. Carter sometimes says things to other people that aren't very nice - remarks

that offend people. Carter gives Joey some very bad advice - he says that Joey doesn't need to

take his medicine.

Are they ever going to be a normal dad and son? Maybe Mr. Pigza should get some help

himself. But that has to be Mr. Pigza's decision. To get help, first a person must want to be

helped.

Summary: He's wired, are you?
Review: The second installment in the Joey pigza series i a great book for you to enjoy. it will make you laugh 'till the very end and give you such a vivid visualization, you'll wanna keep reading it over and over again. So I suggest that whatever you're reading now out that down and rush down to your local library or bookstore and get the book.
The book is about Joey spending his summer vacation with his dad that he's only seen once. Joey soon finds out that his dad is just like him; hyper, has ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), and has a hard time with his life. Spending time with his dad he learns how to play baseball, how his grandma and dad live, and how his dad is way worser than him. Although Joey wants his parents to get back together, it will not happen for his mom cannot deal with his dad.
I give this book for stars because I liked it and it's one of the better books I read. So give it a try.

Summary: Spend Your Money on this Book
Review: This book had a lot of information. The author spent a lot of time explaining about the main character, Joey Pigza, hence the title Joey Pigza Loses Control. Then finally at the end you had to use the information to figure it out, but I won't tell you, you will have to read the book to find out. I really liked the book because, I could relate to it. For example, Joey just lives in L.A and is pretty normal. Even though I don't live in L.A I do live near a big city (Chicago). The only thing that I thought wasn't really normal was his dad. He was well... you read it and see. Basically this book is about a kid Joey Pigza. He plays baseball and his parents are divorced. He spends the summer at his dad's house, because he thinks that he doesn't spend enough time with his dad and that he needs to "get to know him." So his whole summer is about how he is trying to survive his summer. His mom told him that she thought that his summer was going to be a disaster and he begged her to let him go. So if your parents are divorced this book might just catch your attention. So you should check it out. I hope that this review was helpful!

Review: Title: Joey Pigza Loses Control

Joey Pigza Loses Control is such a wonderful book. This book tells of a boy named Joey Pigza who lives with his mother and his pet Chihuahua, Pablo. At this moment, Joey was on his way to his father¡¯s house. As his mother drove him there, she was nervous and was clamping the steering wheel really hard. For a few weeks, Joey spent his life living with his grandmother and his father. However, there is a problem with Joey. He needs to take his medication, but his father is telling him that he doesn¡¯t need it. Can Joey survive the time with his father and grandmother?
The reason why I chose this book is that this had some very descriptive words that helped me visualize what is happening. ¡° We were on our way to Dad¡¯s house and Mom was driving with both hands clamped tightly around the wheel as if she had me by the neck.¡± Here, Jack Gantos, the author of this book shows how firmly Joey¡¯s mother is holding on to the wheel. Is seems Joey¡¯s mother is really nervous enough to break something in half.
Although this book comes with great things, it also comes with parts I disliked. ¡° I saw another one coming and I took my hand from Pablo¡¯s fizzing snout and reached for the steering wheel and Mom slapped my hand away just as the tire hit the hole hard and I bounced sideways and cracked my head on the half open window and Pablo flipped over onto his hind legs like he was doing a wheelie then opened his mouth and did what I said he¡¯d do all over the front of the radio.¡± The only reason I disliked this part was that it made me flip my stomach as I imagined Pablo¡¯s vomit all over the radio. This was one of those where the feeling would stay in your stomach forever.
My favorite part in this book was when Joey¡¯s father called Joey ¡°Caveman.¡± Here, Joey was the pitcher in his father¡¯s baseball team. The only reason how Joey received this name was for he threw the ball like a wild man. This was always funny to me whenever Joey¡¯s father called him ¡°Caveman.¡± Although with a wild throw came some good ones. Once in a while, Joey would get a strike causing the team to win. Maybe Joey¡¯s father should call Joey ¡°Targetman¡± for he could get on target on some occasions.

Summary: Joey Pigza is back!
Review: Joey Pigza, from Joey Pigza Swallowed the Key is back! Joey Pigza has always longed to know his estranged father. That is, until he actually has the opportunity to spend the summer with him. Carter Pigza is a mile-a-minute talker, "reformed" alcoholic who believes that Joey can control his Attention Deficit Hypertivity Disorder through deep thinking, the way that he controls his own problems. Joey, on the other hand, is quite pleased with his new "meds", which come in the form of a patch he changes every day. Joey realizes that with the help of his meds, he can to some extent control the impulses he has, and works diligently on this self-control. Unfortunately, his father envisions Joey's path to recovery in a totally different light and tries to take control of the situation.

Author Jack Gantos has presented to the reader a confused Joey Pigza, who tries to make sense of the inconsistencies in his life, all the while keeping Pablo, his most consistent companion close by his side. He strives to keep control of his own life, while the rest of the world seems to comically fight against it. From his oxygen-sucking grandmother to the zealousness of his baseball coach father, Joey and his family are truly enjoyable.

Joey Pigza loses control is about a boy named Joey who is sent to live with his dad for six weeks. His mom and dad are divorced and he hasn't seen his dada since he was a baby. He is nervous and doesn't know what he is like. Joey needs medication patches, because he is always nervous and he is hyper without them. When he meets his dad, his whole life changes. His dad takes things away from Joey that he needs but his dad thinks that they are not necessary.
I chose this book because I had bought it for my 6th grade teacher and I wanted to read it for myself. I liked this book a lot because it was very funny. I would always stop and picture these things happening. 'He was threatening to put masking tape around some kid's eyes and make him 'play by instinct! Like a freakin' Luke Skywalker.'P.60. I like this part because Joey's dad is threatening to put tape around a kids eyes, while playing baseball! Joey's dad coach's baseball, however he has a very short temper.
The only part of the book that I didn't like was how Joey's dad takes his medication away. To me this was shocking because he needs him medication. At first, Joey does fine without his medication. While he's pitching on his dad's baseball team, he loses control. ''You're losing control!' Dad Barked. Get a grip!' P. 186. He tries pitching one more ball, but than he can't take it, he runs away. When he leaves he calls his mom to pick him up because he wants to go home, and he wants his medication.
My favorite part of this book was when Joey's dad sent him to his room. Since he doesn't have his medication he can't stay in one place, so he goes to the bathroom. He has a tape, with a girl on the cover covered with whip cream so you can only see her head. He finds his dad's shaving cream and puts it all over himself. When his grandma goes in to the bathroom, she screams very loudly, even with her emphysema! This was funny to me when I pictured it in my mind.

Summary: A Crazy Kid
Review: Joey Pigza Loses Control was a great story. The setting of the story was in Pittsburgh. The story takes place in the present. The main characters were Joey, Mom, and Dad. My favorite character was Joey because he thought he wasn't normal because he was in Special Ed. My favorite part of the book was when Joey's dad threw Joey's patches down the toilet. I would recommend this book to a teenager or pre- teenager because you should know what the book is about and because it's fun and funny to read. Also, it's a interesting book.
