Summary: Finally...it's the TRUTH about Pregnancy!!
Review: It's the REAL "what to expect" and told in a down to earth, humorous way. Not only informative about all the different tests you will go through with pregnancy, but the author tells you the truth about the misery we all go through...ie: hemmorhoids suck! It will make you laugh and is a wonderful book to share with friends and especially your husband! It's nine months we all go through...some days it's a breeze, others are just awful..we might as well learn to laugh at it!

Summary: the great cheer me up book!!!
Review: How can anybody feel this book is negative? this is the most wonderfull book to take anywhere, I took it to my doctors appointments and read it while i waited cause it makes me feel more relax. It's True this is not a medical book, but belive me i have read around 20 pregnancy books (because i really like reading and the subject) and this is the book and giving to my Girlfriends. you have lots of worries in the day, this book is to make you feel free to be a little (ok a lot) sensitive, crazy and silly. I also recomend her other books.

Summary: A great emotional supplement with pregnancy guides.
Review: I lived away from my mother, aunts, and girlfriends while I was pregnant. I read a couple "technical" books with great information, but started reading this in my third month, when I started to feel like I was going a little crazy - this book helped to put humor into my pregnancy, and I relaxed a lot more (my husband loved it too). I recommend it as an "extra" book to read accompanied by 2 or 3 great pregnancy guides.

Summary: real life advice
Review: This book is wonderful. After reading every pregancy book I could get my hands on I was overwhelmed with feelings that I should be exercising all the time and eating wheat germ on every meal. I was thinking that there was no "real" advice until I read Vicki. Even my husband read it and enjoyed it. She made me feel happy to be pregnant rather than scared. Her introduction alone is wonderful. I highly recommend this book to any woman who is pregnant and looking to read something about pregnancy that will not make you feel bad and will definantly make you laugh.

Summary: This book is full of Humanity and Humor
Review: I bought this book during my first pregnency after hearing a radio interview with Ms.Iovine. At first I was put off by some of the cynicism and felt the book was a tad shallow.I planned a natural birth, breastfeeding, and co-sleeping and much of the book didn't seem to reflect my ideals, BUT nothing went as I had planned.I had a medicated birth, couldn't brestfeed or co-sleep. I found great solace and comfort in ths book. After weeks of difficulty breastfeeding and my daughter not thriving,I picked up this book again. I found a passage that basically says: If you want to breastfeed -great, if it doesn't work for you, that's okay too. It was THE ONLY place where I found validation that stopping was okay. I decided the Lydia should have a sane mommy and a bottle, instead of a frazzled , stressed mommy and trouble getting nourished. The follow up book about the first years has also been a great help. I may not share all the ideals in the books, but it is an honest, caring source full of humanity and humor. I had a hard time viewing myself as a "girlfriend", but deep inside I found I shared many of the same concerns and I grew to appreciate the frank advice.

Summary: If you want to read a negative book-- this one's for you!
Review: This book is full of such helpfull advice as: you'll never lose the weight while you're breast-feeding, you'll have excess skin, gain weight all over your body and will need at least 9 months to lose it! This obsession with body changes and inability to lose weight may stem from the fact that the author is a size 4 and 1 extra pound seems like 10 to her. Not only is this book depressing, it does not accurately reflect a normal pregnancy. The author lists countless symptoms and insists that these same symptoms occured to all her girlfriends. Let me tell you-- you might experience half of those! I wonder why the author chose to have 4 children in 6 years (NO KIDDING the rhythm method didn't work for her!)She certainly didn't cherish the pregnancies! Clearly I'm a minority opinion here, but I don't know what other readers found humorous about this book.

Summary: RIGHT ON!
Review: I am experiencing my third pregnancy, and WISHED I had read this book for the first two! This book is full of topics that will tell you like it is. This is an excellent resource book on pregnancy that will make you laugh out loud, comfort your fears, and make you feel normal. I recommend this book to anyone who is pregnant...be it your first pregnancy or fifth.

Summary: Fabulously Funny
Review: As a first time mom, I found this book extremely helpful and witty - a needed escape from the well-meaning 'advice' I was getting from total strangers. Well-written, it covers questions I never thought to ask my doctor as well as humorous anecdotes to which I could relate.

Summary: The BEST!
Review: This is the BEST pregnancy book ever! I read it when I was pregnant with my first child and re-read when I was pregnant with my second and will probably read it with each subsequent pregnany. It was so nice to have a "girlfriends" point-of-view and down and dirty advice. She speaks the truth and she would know after four kids. I also have her second book "Girlfriends Guide to Surviving the First Year" and that is just as good! This book is much better than all those medical mumbo jumbo books that just make you worry more. This one will ease your mind and just make you laugh. Hold on to your belly when you read this one!
