Summary: I'm doing this for my Major themes in Literature class.
Review: Nick Hornby's High Fidelity was a laugh not only for its humor but also for its accuracy in portraying that segement of the male population that is utterly neurotic and wrapped up in some silly facet of pop culture as if it was what really defined them. The book was funny and intelligent, through the protagonist Rob Hornby lets slip a few of the things every man does, but doesn't want to admit to.

Summary: High Fidelity by: Nick Hornby
Review: This book is truly a classic. There are a variety of underlying themes that a reader can openly see. What makes this book so good is that most everyone that reads this novel is somehow able to relate at least one of the themes to themselves or someone they know. The book illustrates how anything that an individual is attached to because the sole focus of ones life. This can allude to many relational, work, and self-realization problems. Rob in the story portrays a universal personality allowing everyone to read it to enjoy and be able to rationalize with this man and his complicated lifestyle.

Summary: Fun read!
Review: A quick, fun read with sympathetic characters and great music anecdotes. By the way -- the movie is just as good.

Summary: Longing for something else
Review: While reading High Fidelity I was reminded of the struggle of human beings and finding their one true love. In the story of Rob and his life as a record store owner Hornby constantly throws a comical satire that makes this story funny with a constant remedy of humor around everyone's own eccentric view points. The book may have seemed somewhat light hearted and comical to those who have not experienced love, however it holds a much deeper meaning to those that have been afflicted by love and all its battles.
This book is somewhat disheartening at times with such negative outlooks on life and love, however the reader then realizes that it is not love and life that brings you down it is how you look at it. And in this case Rob views them in a negative way which can cause issues with the reader. This book is very good and somewhat enlightening, but one must remember that although Rob is messed up psychologically and is searching for something inside himself, that it is just a book.

Summary: Very Entertaining Book
Review: I read Nick Hornby's book High Fidelity which is a comedic book about a guy named Rob who has recently come out of a fairly long relationship. Rob analyzes his past relationships and tries to figure what everything means. From a girls point of view, this book gives you a look at how guys think and deal with relationships. Guys I'm sure will like it because they may have had similar experiences like Rob. I saw the movie before I read the book and I liked them both. However I think that the book is more detailed and funnier.

Summary: Do guys really relate??
Review: Being a women, of course, I would really like to know if there are guys that are actually like Rob. I found this book interesting in the fact that Rob is very insecure (being an insecure women I can relate, or should I say women in general). Rob is lost. He can only describe himself by using his ideal "Top 5" pop music lists. Even though Nick Hornby has created Rob as an insecure individual he can teach the reader a lesson. Rob explains a lot about the adult lifestyle. He explains about relationships and the mind of the male species. I especially enjoyed the symbolism Hornby creates with Rob being so attached to his pop music that it is the only thing he can relate to, at first anyhow. I would suggest this book to anyone who wants to figure out themselves. I would even suggest it to those girlfriends who may want to figure out their boyfriends and their pop music.

Summary: Read It
Review: The novel 'High Fidelity' by Nick Hornby is a true tale of males views towards the opposite sex and the understanding of relationships. Hornby puts the main character 'Rob' through an all out search for love and how to find happiness. This novel will have you laughing as you follow Rob through his top five worst break ups while he seeks for what went wrong in these relationships. With this light humor, it very easily sucks you into the tangled web of Rob's life. If you've seen the movie and liked it you must read this excellent book.

Summary: This Was Great!!
Review: High Fidelity is a brief insight into the life of a British man obsessed by music and his love life. When Rob's girlfriend initially breaks up with him the first thing he does is reorganize his enormous record collection. He is so over whelmed by the power of pop culture that his vision of where his record collection ends and his relationship begins is clouded. Directly after his break up with Laura his girlfriend, he plunges himself into a reflection of his life. He looks back at his all time top five break ups and in the story we see him look up his girlfriends from the past, as he searches for where he could have possibly gone wrong. Throughout all of these encounters Rob is hilarious. One question comes to mind, Do all guys act and feel the same as Rob? The situations he engages in are so funny and at times they even make you embarrassed . All in all, High Fidelity is a wonderful novel! I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in how men think and act, and anyone that is in need of some good humor.

Summary: Normal boring book
Review: My opinion on High Fidelity by Nick hornby is that the novel is funny but many passages are a little bit boring because sometimes it's the same content on every page in a chapter. But if you see the film , you will say that the film is better than the novel, cuz the actors are very ood and funny...Bo-email

Summary: A Hilarious and Realistic View on Relationships
Review: High Fidelity by Nick Hornby, is not just another sappy book about relationships gone bad, but a refreshingly realistic account of relationships through the eyes of man. Hornby's exquisite and hilarious style of writing keeps the pages turning and the reader laughing and nodding as they relate to, and gain insight on, different aspects of love and life.
Nick Hornby does a spectacular job at defining each character and bringing them to life. Rob Fleming seems to jump off the pages and speaks of his love life, or lack of at times, in such vivid detail and emotion, it's as if Rob himself is sitting in your living room recounting the confused drama that is his life.
High Fidelity is a definite must read for all who have been in relationships, or are thinking of beginning one. This novel will give you some understanding of the male point-of-view as well as the hardships, confusion, and the sometimes backwards reality that seems to get mixed up in the stereotypical notion of love. All of which is portrayed through the hilarious and blunt writing style of one of my "top five favorite" authors, Nick Hornby.
