Rating: Summary: a very solid read Review: I've read all of Larry Bond's books. I thought Vortex was his best, but it's still a very good read that keeps you turning the pages.
Rating: Summary: Thought-provoking and thrilling! Review: If you found the recent movie THE SIEGE to be thought-provoking, then give THE ENEMY WITHIN a read. It opens splendidly with an Arab terrorist attack on San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge. The President finds evidence that Iran is involved and launches a cruise missile strike in retaliation. Colonel Peter Thorn and FBI agent Helen Gray suspect the Iranians are up to something big some time afterwards - and they are proved right as a series of terrorist strikes paralyse the US and turn ethnic groups against each other. A school massacre, an attack on Disneyland, city bombings, airliners shot down . . . what is the link between Iranian general Taleh and some Bosnian Muslims and Somalians running amok in the States? And what are Taleh's real motives? My only criticism is that the ending seemed rather rushed after an impressive build-up, but the story continues well in DAY OF WRATH. A real page-turner.

Rating: Summary: Clancy should be compared to Bond, not vice versa Review: If you want to get to sleep, don't read this book. It's too good for you to be bothered with trivial things like eating and sleeping. Ever since Red Storm Rising I have eagerly awaited each new Larry Bond book. Nobody conveys the global maneuvering of troops, machines and politicians like he does. His work also tends to make you think more than many others in this genre. Besides being an action-packed thriller where the enemies of us all get their grisly comeuppance (without any TV-style fisticuffs), this book sends a clear warning to America: we are vulnerable, and had better do something about it
Rating: Summary: A Mild Disappointment Review: In comparison to his earlier books this one was a bit disappointing. Larry go back to the large war novels!
Rating: Summary: Very good! All too plausible. Review: Mr. Bond presents a horrifying, but undeniably possible, situation of terrorists exploiting the weaknesses of the U.S. Exciting page-turner, and not too much "techno-babble" (as if that's a bad thing!), so I would recommend this to everyone.
Rating: Summary: The ending stinks Review: Mr. Bond's past books have been riveting. This one does not match up. The first 450 pages were well written (a little short on character development, but not bad), however, the main characters actions at the end ARE NOT BELIEVABLE. Additionally, why write such a flowing book and wrap it all up in 20 pages. The ending could really have been expanded upon and made much more thrilling. Only 2 stars, which means slightly below average.
Rating: Summary: It could be going on right now? Review: Read & think, read & think ; You will be saying over & over again,You never know? it could happen. You will never read the newspaper the same, again.
Rating: Summary: a fascinating read Review: Sucks you in.. a read it nonstop and finished it in 2 days.. great detail. You won't be able to put it down.
Rating: Summary: A Clancy Buster Review: The cover of the paperback edition of this book has a quote from Tom Clancy stating that The Enemy Within is the best thriller he has read in a long time..Well it far surpasses anything he has WRITTEN in a long time too. Bond has written a tightly plotted and engrossing thriller that is notches above what the the so-called masters of the genre have written in years. While other authors of the genre have gotten caught up in lengthy and boring ramblings on about the military hardware used in the plot Bond mixes just enough military hardware technobabble with an excellent and believeable plot to keep us turning the pages to a satisfying conclusion. Terrorists attacking the USA has been done before but the pacing of Bonds attempt is perfect with all out violent mayhem being played out across the USA by
Iranian terrorists. Even the typical love interest between the lead characters is played to a minimum so as not to interfere with the non stop action in the story. If Bond keeps turning out stories as good as this I think he will find a bigger audience for his work than he currently has and deserves!
