Rating: Summary: back to basics Review: This book is a great reminder of how the life of faith is to be lived. Cymbala uses both the great heroes of faith in the Bible and ordinary people who do extraordinary things as examples. The book is convicting -- that alone would make it a failure. But it is also encouraging. The combination of conviction and encouragement makes this an important and welcome book.
Rating: Summary: Awesome! Review: This book is a must read for every Christian. This book explains profound truths in a simple, easy to understand way. It is written in a very conversational manner and is full of encouraging examples. This book has increased my faith and I was very convicted many times as I read. This book gives the reader a clear understanding of truly biblical faith. Anyone who reads this book will be challenged, whether a new Christian or not. God used this book to speak to me in a powerful way.
Rating: Summary: God Answers Prayer! Review: This book is beyond a doubt the most uplifting, spiritually challenging, Biblically based book on the power of Faith I have read in a very long time. I couldn't put it down. This is for new, as well as seasoned Christians. I loved the chapters that discussed the facts that "ALL things work together for good to those who love God." -- Not some things, not just good things, not just for people who've had spotless pasts, but ALL things to ALL those who love God - even for us broken, hopeless sinners who love God. The book discussed how God uses those who have hopelessly ruined their lives. As a matter of fact, He PREFERS to use those who have hopelessly ruined their lives. It also talks about how Satan has robbed all of us of so many things in our lives. It talks of how to get past your Past, how to forgive, and how GOD is able to help people forgive and be healed. WE can't do it ourselves. Only GOD can do it. This book is a powerful inspiration to me and a reminder of the glories God has waiting for us if we will only believe and have faith. God's power is limitless, but He tells us that we can only receive His power if we claim it and believe it through faith. "ACCORDING TO YOUR FAITH be it unto you." Awesome book!!!
Rating: Summary: You just gotta believe! Review: This book offers many encouraging stories that show what God has done in response to people's faith. Looking at the past is exciting, but I'm looking for some idea or suggestion that can affect the future, helping me live the life that God wants me to live. I found it. What I will remember most from this book is that God's power - God's grace - is activated by faith. Cymbala says that "faith alone is the trigger that releases divine power." Remember, Jesus could do no great miracles in his hometown because of the people's lack of faith. God is of course all-powerful, but He often chooses to release His power in proportion to our faith. When we believe, we essentially enable God to do good things. When we doubt, much of God's grace remains bottled. Cymbala supports this faith-releases-power principle with many scriptures and personal experiences. It makes it easier to understand the extraordinary power in the lives of people like Smith Wigglesworth and Rees Howells. And it made me realize that in many situations where I was trying to do something useful, I diluted my effectiveness by relying primarily on my own mental and physical strength without inviting God to be involved. Not so smart on my part. If you've had rare encounters with God's grace, read "Fresh Faith" and get some new perspective. No sense in trying to do it all yourself when God's power is available for the low cost of, well, just believing He is who He says He is and can do what He says He can do.

Rating: Summary: Another great book by Jim Cymbala Review: This book picks up right where Jim Cymbala's first book, Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire, left off. He talks about the new faith we need as Christians. A genuine faith in Jesus. A must read for all Christians!
Rating: Summary: Inspiration for new believers Review: This book was a great inspiration to me and my family. It gives many great examples of how god's grace grabs normal people like you and me and won't let go. Mr. Cymbalia puts things in terms to where you don't have to be a college scholar to understand things such as, the power and importance of prayer. My husband and I are new believers in Christ and this book has truly inspired us to continue our search for Jesus Christ.
Rating: Summary: A must read for all Christians Review: This book was hard to put down. It is such an eye-opener to the things Christians sometimes overlook in their everyday walk with the Lord. I am telling all my friends and relatives that they must read this one soon. I enjoyed Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire also.
Rating: Summary: Sequel Review: This is more of "Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire" by the same authors. It is basically a sequel. I always recommend "THE PRAYER OF HANNAH" by Kenn Gividen.
Rating: Summary: Fresh Reading Review: This is one of the top 5 books I have ever read. It is extremely inspiring and gets to the heart of FAITH and GRACE - not works... Fresh Faith shows us stories where people have relied on God and miracles happened - in our time in meaningful ways. I really love this book - thanks Ruth for recommending it!
