Summary: Liars Game
Review: Liars Game is by far one of the best books I have ever read. There is never a dull moment from beginning to end. I was disappointed and upset when I completed the book. I wanted more and needed more. Therefore, I wrote Mr. Dickey an e-mail asking him to please write a sequel, because it would be unfair to leave his readers in such turmoil. Go get the book, because it is worth every dollar plus more!!!Sonya P.

Summary: A captivating read...
Review: I am an avid reader. I was taking a trip and decided to buy a novel to read on the plane. I was browsing in the bookstore and I came across Liar's Game. I am a big fan of Omar Tyree, Michael Baisden, Yolanda Joe, and Terry McMillan, but I had never read anything by Eric Jerome Dickey. I read the dust jacket and decided to take a chance. I began to read and I could not put the book down. I figured it would be interesting, but I never expected it to keep me wanting more. I was so eager to find out how things were going to end, that I spend a large part of my vacation reading. In fact, my best friend had to pry the book away from me to get me to pay attention to her! I was very impressed by the novel. The characters were very realistic and the way Mr. Dickey wrote the story allowed me to picture every scene in my mind. I have become a true fan of Eric Jerome Dickey, and I plan to read all of his works. I just finished Cheaters (I loved it!) and I am about to start reading Sister, Sister. To everyone who is reading this review, BUY THE BOOK. You won't be disappointed!

Summary: A Real Roller Coaster
Review: This author has carved out a niche for himself in writing about relationships, often bad ones. The central relationship in this book, between Vincent and Dana, is fraught with drama and is seems doomed from the start. He lies about being divorced with a child. She covers up the fact that she is broke and still in love with the man whose actions lead to her declaring bankruptcy. Their differences seem insurmoutable and provide quite a bit of tension. Throughout the book, you just want them to throw in the towel already. Although I enjoyed this book, I found it unrealistic. Taken as just entertainment it hits the mark squarely. But anyone looking for any deeper meaning or commentary on the state of relations between men and women may find it lacking. True, the dating scene is often a "Liar's Game" as folks with major issues lie and withhold information to make themselves more attractive; however, I don't see folks with this type of baggage making a long-term relationship work. Dana is manipulative, bossy and volatile. She also has a nasty little habit of licking Vince's gum before putting it in his mouth. That really annoyed me. Vince is weak and lacks direction. He's stuck in a dead-end job, in a crummy apartment, pining away for an ex-wife who never loved him and a child that he is not allowed to see. The not-so-happy couple is surrounded by other troubled couples -- the feuding lesbians across the hall, Dana's friend Gerri and her young stud and Vince's Jehri curl-wearing pal Womack and his wife. These subplots allow the writer to explore class issues and formerly taboo topics. Dickey provides an interesting treatment of those issues though it does have the feel of a tabloid. For this genre, this book is pretty good. I would however like to see Mr. Dickey expand his horizons and tackle something other than dysfunctional relationships. Also, it would be great if he could for once include a normal, likeable female character.

WHAT I MEAN IS, I AM CURIOUS TO FIND OUT IF A RELATIONSHIP IS GOING TO DEVELOP BETWEEN VINCE AND KWAANZA? WILL KWAANZA HAVE A HALF-SISTER? WILL DANA SEEK COUNSELING? HEAVEN KNOWS SHE NEED IT! ACTUALLY, SHE AND CLAUDIO DESERVE EACH OTHER. THEY ARE TWO OF A KIND. MY FAVORITE CHARACTER WAS HARMONICA; WITH OLD AGE COMES WISDOM, WITH WISDOM THERE IS KNOWLEDGE, WE ALL NEED A HARMONICA IN OUR LIFE. "HILTON" AND "PAPER ROUTE" VERY CREATIVE; I NEVER HEARD IT REFERRED TO AS A PAPER ROUTE! AT FIRST, I THOUGHT A PAPER ROUTE REALLY EXISTED. MY HOMEGIRL, JACKIE, INTERPRETED IT FOR ME. WE CURRENTLY HAVE A WAGER ON THE LAST CHAPTER? PLEASE E-MAIL ME AND LET ME KNOW WHAT'S REALLY HAPPENING? I PERSONALLY, THOUGHT VINCE WAS LOOKING AHEAD 10 YEARS FROM NOW, YET THEY SEEM TO THINK THAT VINCE WAS SPEAKING OF THE FUTURE! MY ARGUEMENT IS HOW COULD HE, HE WAS JUST OUTSIDE WITH PSYCHO, I MEAN DANA, BUILDING COURAGE TO FACE REALITY, SOMETHING HE SHOULD HAVE DONE A LONG TIME AGO! Summary: Entertaining
Review: This latest book by Mr. Dickey is just simply "entertaining". It provokes no deep thought whatsoever. The characters are somewhat believeable as are the situations but the ending left me scratching my head. His previous novels I think were more well written than this one.

Summary: Keeps getting better...
Review: Another fabulous tale about "real" people dealing with "real" relationship issues. I really enjoyed this one as I did his previous novels and I'm already screaming, "When's the next book hitting stores?!" Eric is truly a great storyteller and knows how to keep the action/drama so gut-wrenching that it has you turning page after page to the very end. The ending was a complete surprise and I was definitely shocked of what I learned that he--Vince--and Naiomi had "created." But it made me wonder, "What's he gonna do about it?" But hey, I won't spoil it for everyone else so that means YOU MUST go out and get this book. It's truly a great read. Pat yourself on the back E. Dickey, you've done it again!

Review: He's done it again!!! I've read and loved all of Eric Jerome Dickey's novels. Liars game was a great read. It was very entertaining and the ending didn't leave you wondering!!! Fast read!! Well...I loved his books so much it only takes me 2 days!!! Keep up the good work brother!!! :o)

Summary: Struggle to Finish!!
Review: Liar's Game was a struggle for me to finish. The author was repetitive on how Dana felt about Vince's relationship with ex-wife and daughter, as well as how Vince felt about them. Dana was a selfish soul, who did not want a man with children (bottom line). Personally, I feel that with the drama Vince and Dana went through, they both needed to close this chapter in their lives and go their separate ways. (Call it a TKO!!) However, I was not surprised by the outcome, typical EJD style. Not your best EJD!!!
