Summary: I'D RATHER LAUGH NOW MORE THAN BEFORE
Review: i just read an unfavorable review of this remarkable book and frankly i'm shocked..

never before have we needed to learn to laugh in the face of tragedy..

i've read I'D RATHER LAUGH 3x now and i seem to get so much more of out of it every time i read it. Is linda's life any worse than others..... some yes, some no. its not a contest.. it's how one handles the tragedies that befall us and this alone is worth the price of the book.

i have been to a lecture given by linda here in arizona and when i left i felt better... i felt i finally found someone who understood how life can beat you up and you can continue to go forward.. as for blaming her mother, i got the sense that her mother was difficult but i never felt linda did anything but show great compassion and understanding for this woman. i know for myself, to look at the past and understand what made you the person you are is invaluable. this is what linda has done and done well. as is said.... a life unexamined is not worth living.

in the times we live in right now, i urge you all to read this book.. its filled with what we need most at this present time... HOPE AND FAITH that we can overcome anything.

Summary: Lighten up, it's not Shakespeare :)
Review: After reading I'd Rather Laugh by Linda Richman, I feel I have to share my insights. This wonderful book can help you put the trials and tribulations of your life in proper perspective. Miss Richman has endured more sorrow in her life than most people experience in a lifetime, but yet she smiles, laughs and forges on. She herself says that her book is not a "self-help" book, but rather "self-HOPE" in the respect that a book can't change your life, but it can give you the impetus to go on, not just to endure, but to laugh again. She shares the most intimate aspects of her life with dignity and that incredibly warm, skewed sense of humor that leaps out from every page. It's no wonder her son-in-law, Mike Myers, saw fit to create his Linda Richman character after her. Bravo to Linda Richman!

Summary: Insufferable
Review: The incessant self-regard in this book is cloying. According to Linda, no one has suffered as Linda has suffered, no one's pain has been as challenging a Linda's, no one's effort to overcome her pain has been more inspiring than Linda's. There is something very unwholesome about this attitude.

Perhaps the self-pitying navel gazing is the core of her problems. For happiness take the focus off yourself and think of others for a change...for once!

Summary: A MAJOR CONTRIBUTION
Review: I just finished reading this book, I'D RATHER LAUGH and i haven't stopped laughing since i read it. I also saw linda richman on Oprah and adored her. I only hope that everybody will buy this book or borrow it from a friend. Its a book that should be read over and over to remind ourselves that life can be wonderful and linda proves it is. No matter what we are faced with in life the ability to laugh doesn't have to leave us. I loved the way the book was written, light and easy to read and more important, REAL .This is a real person with a real story to share and she does it with such grace and humor. I have not stopped smiling since i read this book and promised myself that i will attempt to keep my spirits high no matter what happens to me. That;s some lesson to learn from a book.

Summary: I'd Rather Laugh Too
Review: I am a 16 year old male and I LOVE LINDA RICHMAN!!!!! I love coffee talk, I think that's Mike Myers funniest role. But I didnt know she was a real person, I thought Mike Myers made her up. Up until I saw her show on PBS about this book. The second I saw her I feel in love with her. So I picked up this book and couldn't stop reading it. She reminds me of some of my mom's Jewish friends I love, in NewYork. This book has helped me with my depression because it's such a funny book. But it will also help you, she teaches you how to be happy inspite of all the bumps in life. Laughter is the best medicine she says, I totally agree. I also have been drinking coffee now since ive read this book no joke. Linda if you're reading this You have Beautiful Teeth.

Summary: woman of strength
Review: Linda Richman has provided her women readers with an honest, charming, uplifting true story of personal triumph over emotional darkness. Through her experiences the reader can learn valuable tools on coping with negative emotions. For readers who enjoy this book, I would further recommend Candles in the Darkness, a similarly inspiring true story of women triumphing over crises with humor, faith and friendship.

Summary: Laughing and crying at the same time with Linda Richman
Review: I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who needs to laugh, be uplifted and feel good. You don't have to have lost a child (although I did) in order to enjoy this book and get the goodie out of it. I have read countless grief books since my son died but this book has helped me more than any of them. She actually made me cry and laugh at the same time and laughing is not something that I do a lot of since my son died.

This book is for anyone...anyone who likes to laugh and who has a good sense of humor. Linda Richman is a gem!!

Summary: SHEER JOY
Review: I CAN'T RECALL READING A MORE INSPIRATIONAL BOOK. IT SEEMS THAT NO MATTER WHAT LIFE HANDED HER, LINDA RICHMAN FOUND A WAY TO FIND HUMOR IN HER SITUATION. HER ATTITUDE TOWARDS LIFE'S HARDSHIPS HANDED ME A ROADMAP THAT I HAVE USED AS A GUIDE. I'VE BOUGHT SEVERAL COPIES AS GIFTS FOR FRIENDS. I'D RATHER LAUGH IS FUNNY, TENDER AND WELL WRITTEN. BRAVO MS. RICHMAN. I HOPE THERE ARE MORE BOOKS ON THE WAY!

Summary: incredible insight
Review: I have to honestly say..I bought the book because of the wonderful reviews for the most part and then the bad reviews from a couple..I wanted to see for myself..and this is what I saw..I read about life as it is to many of us..of an ordinary woman who had extraordinary experiences and made choices about how to live her life in spite of what was handed to her. For those that didn't understand what this book was about..I can say you just didn't get it. Linda Richman is someone to look to when the dull and everyday horrors that life hands us want to pull us down..She is an example of what you can accomplish when life tells you that you don't have a chance. Thanks Linda a work well done..

Summary: Just Buy it and See
Review: I bought this book for my wife becuase she was going through some rough times, and when she was done she thanked me for being such a thoughtful husband. My wife said the way Miss Richman took charge of her life, despite her adversities, made her ashamed of herself for feeling so sorry for herself when all she needed was a good attitude adjustment. She said she never suffered nearly as much as Miss Richman, but after reading the book, she found that she could change her way of thinking just by using the tools that Miss Richman offered, namely positive thinking and laughter, a very potent combination. I was so impressed with my wife's impression of the book, I read it myself, and was duly impressed as well.
Huzzahs to Miss Richman for her honesty and bravery.
