Rating: Summary: Great expose on the inner workings of Greenwich Review: As a former Greenwich reisdent and Greenwich Police officer, I truly enjoyed this book. Furhman does a great job of exposing the inner workings of the Town, especially how anyone who tries to rock the boat is treated. The unfortunate thing is that the way major investigations were being handled in 1975 by the Greenwich Police is still the way they are handled today. That is to say, very poorly.
Rating: Summary: I cannot believe that family money can so subvert the state Review: Iread this book because I did not know about the case and was very impressed by the author's previous book, 'Death in Brentwood'. I read a great deal of true crime, but this is the first book to show that if you are rich enough, you can get away with murder. Furhman shows very clearly why Martha's case remains unsolved. Public apathy and the NIMBY mentality meant that even 20 years later when he was attempting to collect evidence all he met with was hostility and abuse in Greenwich. I could not put the book down and I very much hope that the Grand Jury will reach a proper conclusion, for Martha's sake and for her very corageous mother and brother. Would someone be kind enough to email when the jury decides, as living in England, I will probably never know.
Rating: Summary: Well written, explains it all Review: After reading this book, there will be no question left in your head as to "Who Killed Martha Moxley". Fuhrman explains it all in great fashion and detail.
Rating: Summary: Compelling, interesting, scandalous and hard to put down! Review: This book is simply awesome. It was well thought out and investigated. I can't believe how much power the Skakel family really has. It is frightening. What is even more frightening is how much they control the town of Greenwich! Mark Fuhrman did an excellent job reporting facts and painting a true picture of what happened to Martha Moxley--something no one else had the guts to do! I commend him on his efforts and I have a lot of respect for him and his work! The Moxley family is very lucky to finally have someone who wants to find the truth and will stop at nothing to help them in their efforts to bring the people who did this to justice! This is definitely one of the best books I have ever picked up-- and hated to put down!
Rating: Summary: Excellent account of the case Review: This book will definitely leave you with a thirst for more true crime of its ilk, and it will cause you to follow the Moxley case closely as well. Fuhrman should put his wits to more cases, as this book is one of the best reads on true crime you're likely to find on shelves. And as for Fuhrman, he doesn't have to go on a crusade, as one reviewer put it. The man was the victim of perhaps the worst character assasination the courts have seen in years, and not only that, was basically forced to plead no contest to perjury since one cop has no chance to defend himself in a long messy case with any kind of decent (re: expensive) legal help. No one can deny, after reading the facts, that Fuhrman would have beat the charges filed against him. OJ should be rotting in a state pen. Give Fuhrman a whole lot of credit for not disappearing!
Rating: Summary: WE ALL NEED A MARK FUHRMAN ON OUR SIDE Review: AS THE MOTHER OF AN UNSOLVED MURDER CASE VICTIM I APPLAUD MARK FUHRMAN'S INVESTIGATION INTO THE MARTHA MOXLEY CASE. IF AFTER READING THIS BOOK THE CASE IS NOT REOPENED AND AN ARREST MADE THERE IS SOMETHING TRULY WRONG WITH OUR JUSTICE SYSEM. MARK FUHRMAN HAS LAID THE ENTIRE CASE OUT FOR THE PROSECUTION. IT IS TOO BAD IT HAS TAKEN SO MANY YEARS FOR THIS ALL TO COME TO SOME KIND OF CLOSURE FOR THE MOXLEY FAMILY. I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN - IT SHOWED WHAT MONEY AND POWER CAN DO - NO MATTER HOW SEVERE THE CRIME. THANK YOU MARK FOR A BOOK WELL WORTH READING - AND INSIGHT INTO A CASE WELL WORTH REOPENING.
Rating: Summary: Have we forgotten WHO Fuhrman is? Review: I've looked at this book, as I have read other books and articles about the Moxley murder. It's an okay book. However, I've been struck by who the author is. Is he on a redemption crusade? Does anyone remember just WHO Mark Fuhrman is? He gained fame and notoriety as the Los Angeles detective whose credibility was destroyed during the O.J. Simpson case. Why? Because he lied on the witness stand, about a myriad of details relating to his investigation of the case. Some of his lies related to his own admissions and statements regarding his hate for Black and brown people. Was he not charged with perjury stemming from his untrustworthy testimony at the trial? Fuhrman can write any book he likes; I'm simply suggesting that we remember that his lies, racism and willingness to perjure himself are some of the reasons he is no longer a Los Angeles police detective.
Rating: Summary: Fuhrman's book offers a variation on the true crime theme. Review: I was pleasantly captured by Det. Fuhrman's reporting on the Martha Moxley murder in,"Murder in Greenwich". Although he will probably never attain the stature of an Ann Rule or Tommy Thompson in terms of elegant style or psychological insight, his perspective as a homocide detective brings fresh eyes to the genre. I especially enjoyed his crime scene sketches, and his lists. I felt as if I were looking into a detective's notebook, and loved it! He is meticulous and serious and never deviates from the investigator's point of view. It is a fresh take in approaching crime reporting, and originally executed. I would love to see him tackle, in the same style, (don't get too slick, Mark), cases such as Jon Benet Ramsey, or Lizzie Borden. Why not? Keep it up Mark, there's an audience out there.
Rating: Summary: A fantastic read and a job well done Review: Fuhrman has written one of the better True Crime books in recent memory. Even though he was such a outsider in Greenwich, being stonewalled by cops and residents alike, he has come away with a very engrossing and informative read. He sheds some new light on this old case and I think he nails the suspect. Sure enough, there's still a Grand Jury case right now going on that started up not lone after this book got published. Bravo Mark Fuhrman. This is a great job after the excellent Murder in Brentwood, and I do hope Fuhrman writes more True Crime books in the years to come.
