Summary: Good Story about True Friends
Review: I am a big fan of Omar Tyree's writing. I have read Flyy Girl, A Do Right Man, Sweet St. Louis, and this one: Just Say No! I was not sure whether or not the book was going to live up to his previous books, but I was not disappointed. I was pleased with the depiction of Darin and John "Loverboy" Williams. The reader is able to follow the relationship of the two best friends from back in the day when they weren't even friends. Darin's father didn't even want him to be around John. But despite it all, they ended up attending the same college and became a support system for each other. Another good aspect of the book is the insight the reader receives about the music industry. Some say that it is easy to Just Say No, but it's not when you are caught up in it. A good read and a good story about loyalty.

Summary: I wasted my time on this one
Review: After having read A Do Right Man and For the Love of Money, I was not impressed with Tyree's writing style (though I've managed to keep A Do Right Man on my bookshelf). The only reason I dared to read Just Say No was because it came highly recommended by a friend. While I did finish the book, I was thoroughly disappointed. The story moved incredibly slow and at times seemed to be going nowhere. The author doesn't trust his readers to 'connect the dots' of what he's trying to say, so he tends to explain every little thing. It gets annoying to say the least. The song lyrics and "shoo-bee-doo-ooh-aahs" were too much. I wondered if the story should've been a musical instead of a novel. I would not recommend this book to anyone unless they were interested in music and wanted to read a flat novel about two guys in the business.

Summary: How to sum up trash with three words
Review: Why is this man so popular? Why do people convince themselves that Omar Tyree can actually write? It's a little harsh to say he can't write at all when this is the only attempt I ever made at reading his work, but come on! I may not be a writer myself but I am a reader and I know trash when I see it. This book went absolutely nowhere. I only made it past the halfway point because my friend assured me it would be worth it to see how the story ended. The joke was on her because I got rid of the book and still found out the ending from a reliable source. Allow me to say I'm glad I didn't waste anymore of my time.

Summary: just say no is slow
Review: I have read just say no and I am truely dissappointed. This book unlike fly girl kept losing my attention. This book heats up at moments the slows down a bit too much with the decriptions of songs sang and music beats (totally not necessary). I fell in love with Omar Tyree after reading Flyy girl but he lost me alittle with for the love of money which underscored flyy girl a little too much and was slow as well. Omar take a break and create something with the excitement of Flyy girl and stop letting you home town fans down.

Signed,

Dissapointed in Philly but still a fan

Summary: One of Omar Tyree's best
Review: I think that Omar Tyree hit it out of the ballpark again with this book. He's other books such as Flyy girl and Single mom were great and so was this one. I was a little skeptic to read another Omar Tyree book after he dissapointed me with For the Love of Money, but Just say no! was great. Tyree really got into the world of the music business. This book really makes you think that maybe the world of music is just like this book. I do think that Flyy Girl was better than this book, so if you have to choose one, get Flyy Girl. I do think this book had some of it's downs, but not too many. I think this was a good story because this was original, you don't see many stories about a drug/sex addict R&b singer. All in All this was a great book.

Summary: Just Say NO(Is The BEST!)
Review: I am totally shocked at some these peeps writing these reviews. This book was NEVER at a dull moment! Now I understand by the song lyrics. Cause I couldn't sing them myself either. But overall I couldn't put this book down for nothing in the world I would come home everyday from school and read my butt off! The book may have predicting parts in it but thats what makes it cool to me! I loved John in the book because he was such a sweetheart at first but the music biz messed him up. Anways whats also interesting about this book is it in a Boy's Point A view, most of the time I see Girl's point a view. So he did it in a boy manner. Thats how I fell in the love with the book in the first place. But other then that this book is off the chains, and should be hitting the Movie Screen cause it has such a good plot to it. I shed a tear even at the end(hehe which I rarely don't do):)

Summary: A Movie Story
Review: Have you ever seen a movie that lasted for hours? Well this book is lonnng. That was the only problem. It was written beautifully. From the start to the end of the Loverboy's life. Money, drugs, and fast women can be addictive. It was addictive John and Darin. John was a genius, and is a legend to everyone he has influenced. Darin was on a football scholarshiip at A&T State University until John jump started his music managing career. As johns manager and friend, Darin Harmon has to keep him out of trouble celebrities get into, and have to keep himself emotionally stable to control John's life.

Summary: Omar Tyree only gets better!!!
Review: Let me start off by saying that I'm a big fan of Omar Tyree's work. My favorite was Flyy Girl by Mr. Tyree but after reading this book I almost thought twice!!

In this novel "Just Say No" Tyree gives you some insight of two African American college students trying make it in the music world. But it's sex, money, and drugs that may choose their fate.

What I loved most about this book is that it gives you a realistic feeling because you know it can and has happen before living the life in the music business!! Tyree just gives details on how it all goes down.

The best is yet to come from Tyree!!

Summary: ok
Review: Darin and John are two best friends who have dreams of making it big one day. Darin hopes to play profootball, and John a singer. John's dream come true, and he become known as Loverboy, the singer with the romantic ballads. Darin becomes John manager, he tries to keep him on the straight past, but success goes to John's head, and he end up living a dangerous life. I throught the storyline was interesting gives you a look into a singer's lifestyle.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: It took me three weeks to read this book, for it was just not interesting. The parts in the book where they wrote the lyrics to the songs with that riffs and everything was just too distracting. The ending was good though, I almost cried. But I almost cried while reading the book because it took too long to get to the point. In the space of reading this book, I sat and read three other books, and this one was read as a last resort when I had nothing else to read. It may be interesting to people that are into that stuff.
