Summary: Sad ending
Review: I liked this work of Tyree's. It was way better than FOR THE LOVE OF MONEY, but cannot compete withFLYY girl. Mr. Tyree has allowed us to see into the world that many of our entertainers live in getting too much too fast. It was unbelievable that "sweet" John Williams turned into the person he did.
Although the ending was sad, it was realistic and I like that Tyree had the guts not to sugar coat his book with an unrealistic ending. All in all JUST SAY NO is a good read.

Summary: One Word= YAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWNNNNNN!!!
Review: i strongly erge omar to stop writing books all together because just say no was a waste of my time. i thought that he could redeem himself from the drasticly boring book for the love of money, but i see that he just dug himslef into an even deeper hole. thank God for libraries though, because i never would have never even thought about reading this crap if a didn't own a library card. you know the saying: only write about what you know? well omar needs to take that quote into close consideration, because he knows doggone well that he knows nothing about all the fame that he writes about, which is also why for the love of money was a waste of my time and money (but let's not even get started on that book Lawd forbid!). after i read this book I had one question in my head: "now just how many trees did omar have to kill to actually get this ... printed?" the answer is still unknown. LOL

Summary: Unintentionally funny
Review: I finished reading this book about a week ago. The book started out okay, but the further I got into the story the more unreal it became. I was not convinced that John "Loverboy" Williams was as talented as the book let on. The book had a lot of potential, but the song lyrics and music beats ruined the book by making it more of a comedy than a serious work of fiction. The "telling" of the story rather than the use of description made the story totally ineffective. The ending, rather than leaving me in tears, left me laughing for the past week. I do not believe that was the intention.

Summary: Some Good News and Some Not-so-good News
Review: The good news is when it comes to his career, Omar Tyree does make an effort to write about diverse subjects, and that is to be commended. Each of his books, at least when it comes to storylines, are distinctive and rarely overlap. The not-so-good news is he does tend to employ a style that suggests he is comfortable with writing stories in the way he's done for the past few novels. It would be good to see him stretch in that area, but, of course, that is his decision.

The narrator of this story is named Darin who's been a friend to John since childhood and grew up to be his manager when he decided to pursue music as a career and became Loverboy. Darin is pretty likeable as he tries to provide companionship and guidance for his talented friend's musical career. But in reading this story, I guess I wanted to see the characters develop and mature to the point that they were interested in other things besides sexing, making money, and other superficial things. It would have been wonderful to see the deeper sides of Darin and John, not just exposing their demons, but showing us why they are that way and seeing some kind of gradual development that shows them maturing or learning something worthwhile when it comes to the things of life.

I loved the information the writer included as far as the music industry, the inner workings of touring and promoting side knowledge, etc. That was fine. The pacing was pretty fast but it seemed the scenarios tended to repeat themselves from chapter to chapter and I was eager to see other drama develop besides the things going on with the groupies, etc. Also I didn't like how Loverboy acted when he lost a major musical award. In reality, he should not have cared, should have been more concerned about developing and nurturing his gift, and knowing that it doesn't matter if people crown you with rewards or not. Are you living your life's purpose and being fulfilled while doing so?

Overall, Just Say No! was a decent read and I do recommend the book because I feel each person should judge a writer's work on his own and not merely rely on other reviewers' opinions before making a purchase decision.

Summary: Just Say No
Review: I liked the concept and the characters of Omar Tyree's latest book Just Say No. I thought Omar did a very effective job of setting up the rise and subsequent fall of musical genius John" Loverboy" Williams. The story was effctively narrated by John's childhood friend and business manager Darin Harmon. The crediability of the story benefitted by Omar's use of current day musical artist such as Jodeci, Mary J Blige and Allayh to name a few.

The biggest problem I have with the book however, is the pacing of the storyline. There was way too much redundancy in regards to the sex and drugs sequences. I also felt Omar's inclusion of the musical notes and endless pages of song lyrics distracted from the story.

Overall I rate the book a three star. It could have received a four if Omar had "Just Said No" to about fifty pages of redundant and distracting prose.

Summary: review of "just say no"
Review: If you read all of omar tyree books in order, as I have. You will understand how omar tyree the writer has come to be. I thought tyree had lost his touch. "single mom" and "sweet st. louis" were very slow reads. when tyree picked up the pace with "for the love of money", i knew tryee "flyy girl" tyree was back to stay. And tyree has proven me correct. although a long book a good read "just say no" tells what it's like behind the scenes. It's a reality check of celebrity life of a beautiful singer. perhaps "Loverboy" was a little before his time..........

Summary: Book Of The Year
Review: I was so impressed with this book that I didn't want it to end. At first I couldn't believe that is was so long but once I got to reading it I didn't want it to end. A lot of times other authors will give you a good story line and then when it starts getting good they cut it off but not Omar. He stayed with the story and took it all the ay out to the end. His characters seemed so real and you could understnad their pain and joy. It was hard trying to understnad the music. I mean the beats where a little too much but then the words to the songs where really good. It also made me understand better the music scene andhow a song is put together and how the beat is developed and how you protect yourself with copyright and producing it too. So he did give alot of good informantion out too. It also showed how crazy it gets behind the scence with all the girl groupies and the sex and drugs and how that can cause a person to lose sight of what is important. The pain that Loverboy with thru with his mom and her not been accepting his career chose and then not helping him to find out about his dad was so touching. But if Darin had not been a true friend he would have left a long time ago but there was only so much he could have done to help his friend out. I cried at the end of this one and I can't wait until this one hits the big screen. Good job Omar and keep it up
