Rating: Summary: One of Lurlene's finest books! Review: Although I've read one other book by Lurlene McDaniel before this series with Ethan and Leah, I definitely must say that "Lifted Up by Angels" is the best one yet! The story was so good and sad, I cried, which is a rare thing for me to do- even when reading other sad stories by other authors. I don't want to give anything away, but if you read the sequel to this book, "Angels Watching Over Me", this book is better. A MUST READ FOR ALL LURLENE MCDANIEL LOVERS!!!
Rating: Summary: One of the best... Review: This book HAS to be one of the best books I've ever read, and I read alot! It was a total tear jerker, but thats okay sometimes! I have or have checked out almost all of Lurlene McDaniel's books and I think they are all wonderful but this one especially deserves a 5 star rating. If you haven't read this book you have too! now!
Rating: Summary: One Of The best Books From Lurlene McDaniel Review: Lifted up by Angels, the companion to Angels Watching Over Me, is one of Lurlene McDaniel's best books. I liked this book so much, because I am not ready to have a steady boyfriend, so when I read this novel, it showed me what I could possibly look for in a guy as I get older. Most of all, I liked how Leah, an "English" girl, and Ethan, an Amish boy, kept their relationship strong, even through the roughest times of their lives, and Ethan's father, whom didn't care that much for Leah. I couldn't heep my eyes off of this magnificent, romance novel. I reccommend this book to any teenage girl, waiting for the guy of her dreams!
Rating: Summary: Lifted Up By Angels Review: Lifted Up By Angels, the follow-up of Angels Watching Over Me, is one of Lurlene McDaniel's best. After Leah is released from the hospital of what the doctor's thought was bone cancer, she spends the summer in a town near the Longacre's Amish community. She spends all the time she can with Ethan. They live in two different worlds, but their love for each other is what keeps them together. After the summer is over, will Leah go to her home in Indianapolis and forget about Ethan, or will their love keep them together? Read Until Angels Close my Eyes to find out.
Rating: Summary: An emotional and fulfilling, wonderful story. It rocks! Review: It is one of the best books I have ever read! You have so got to read it! Our class did a reading program called "read it." My friend told me about the "Angel" series by Lurlene McDaniel. So at first I was like Okay I'll read it. So I read the first one. It was a real good read. Then I read the second one. I was blown away! It was awesome! I loved that book! Then I read the third. Out of all of them "Lifted Up by Angels" was my favorite. Someday I hope Lurlene will write a forth book! Because if she does I'll be one of the first to read it! :^)
Rating: Summary: Lifted Up By Angels By: Lurlene McDaniel Review: Los Angeles, CA December 4, 2000Mrs. Lurlene McDaniel Chattanooga, Tennessee Dear Mrs. McDaniel, After I had read Lifted Up By Angels, I was very anxious to read the companion of this book, which is called Angels watching Over Me. Your first book left me wondering what will happen next with Ethan and Leah. I was wondering if Ethan was going to visit Leah at her house. Mrs. McDaniel, the only thing that was pretty confusing to me was that even though Leah was helpful to Ethans sister, Rebekah, in the hospital last summer why was Rebekahs father still mean to Leah? Leah knew he disliked her, but why? Was it because she was American? The reason that Lifted Up By Angels appealed to me was because it's a romantic and a very sad book. I'm mostly interested in romantic and sad books. When I found this book I was so into that I couldn't put it down for a second. This book was written mostly for teenagers from age 14-16 year olds. It wasn't difficult to understand and it was clearly written to be understood. This book was very worthwhile reading because it made me understand the differences between Ethans Amish life and Leahs American life. While reading this book it made me realize even though Leah and Ethan have many differences between them they still loved each other no matter what. Even though Ethans family didn't approve of them. This book really reminded me of Romeo and Juliet because the Amish people didn't like American people. During summer, Leah spent her vacation by Ethan. She had a job and her own apartment during summer. Since the Amish didn't like being around American people they all looked at her in a very rude and mean way. Leah knew she was unwanted but she didn't care as long as she was with Ethan, Rebekah and Charity (Ethans older sister). This book was very touching. It made me smile and cry. The only time it made me smile was when Leah and Ethan were together and they didn't let anyone come between them because their love was too strong for anyone to ruin it. This book is a very sad book. When I started reading this book it said that Leah had bone cancer in her knee. It is very sad for a 16 year old to have cancer but then she got treated, not completely, the doctors thought that it might come back. So she always had pain in her knee and couldn't bend down or else the pain would come back. At the end of the story something very tragic happens that I wasn't expecting to happen. Rebekah dies! While I was reading and got to the part where the doctor came to the family and this is what he told them. "Medically, your daughter is brain dead, Mr. Longacre. The only thing keeping her alive is the machines. I want your permission to turn the machines off and let her body join her spirit." That was such a horrible thing that happened. I can't believe the family let the doctor turn off the machines and let her daughter die. Leah felt the same way as I did and it definitely wasn't fair. The doctors couldn't have been 100% sure. They couldn't have. Sincerely, Nare Ismailyan
