Summary: Absolutely Awful
Review: I couldn't finish this book, it was so asinine, and the references to Outlander were just rediculous. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.

Summary: WONDERFUL
Review: While awaiting new releases from D. Gabaldon (an addiction I have passed on to my Mom and Sister), I found this wonderful writer Sara Donati through your "also read" area of the reviews. I checked it out of the library but had to have both of them for my own library.

I thoroughly enjoyed stumbling upon Sara Donati's works! I did not expect that I would be as consumed in reading her book as Diana's, but I was, almost. I truly loved INTO THE WILDERNESS, the romantic, historical fiction, that will keep me reading now ALL of Sara Donati's books! I guess I am a die-hard Diana Gibaldon fan that now knows that there is one author almost equalling Diana's calibre.

Thanks for turning me on to more wonderful historical novels as this one.

Summary: The Best
Review: The best book I have read so far this year, I enjoyed and read every word and every page and it still was not enough, a brilliant story and characters that you feel as if you know them and are actually in the wilderness with them, personally i was totally and utterly hooked, now i will go and order the next book by Sara Donati, Dawn on a Distant shore.

Summary: Was waiting for a Diana Gabaldon book to "tide me over"
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed stumbling upon Sara Donati's INTO THE WILDERNESS book. I actually found her sequel DAWN ON A DISTANT SHORE first and just HAD to find the original!

Just two questions..Why was Sarah's "other borne" child that died at birth and buried with Nathaniel's first son, the twin to Hannah, changed to being a daughter in the sequel when the original novel said that it was Nathaniel's second son? (check pages 844-845) Where did it say that Elizabeth's mothers name was Matilde? hmmmmm I hope she is called Millie....

Summary: More than a good read. . .
Review: This is more than a book that you read, this is a story that you step into and take over. Anyone who loves Diana Gabaldon, historical romance, Daniel Day-Lewis in "The Last of the Mohicans" and/or thrilling adventures will LOVE this novel. I must correct some misinformation that the Amazon reviewer wrote, though. This story is NOT a sequel to James Fennimore Cooper's "Last of the Mohicans". Merely, some of his characters appear in this novel, along with Claire Fraser from the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. Rather, Sara Donati has weaved a story all her own using some familiar faces. If you go to the official "Into the Wilderness" web page you can read yourself that Ms. Donati did NOT write this as a sequel to Cooper's novel. She actually had Michael Mann's beautifully directed "Last of the Mohicans" in mind more, she says. Also, the review contained another error: Nathaniel's first wife was NOT Mohican, she was (in English) a Mohawk. I don't mean to bash anyone's review because I love Amazon but I just didn't want any misinformation about this wonderful novel out either! Enjoy!

Summary: A Book to Read and Reread!
Review: Sara Donati has written a wonderful book about life in early America. I find her attention to detail and all her many characters so believable. This will be a series I will read often and with much enthusiasm. Nathaniel and Elizabeth and all the residents of Paradise are truly wonderful! Looking forward to many many future adventures on the frontier. Keep up the good work Sara Donati!

Summary: Take me "Into the Winderness"!
Review: I really enjoyed this book! It is one of my favorites along with Galbaldon's Outlander series. The charactures are well-written and clear in their defined personalities. The heroine, Elizabeth, is wonderful! One wishes she could be a personal friend. The setting in colonial NY forest areas is described in perfect detail. I may not be a good writer, but Sara Donati sure is! A GREAT READ! I bought the hardcover to keep and the paperback to give as a present. I loved it!

Summary: Can't wait for her next one!
Review: Never written a review before, but this book was so great I had to. I have been waiting for her newest book. Wanted this one to go on and on.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: You have to read this book!
Review: I haven't written a review of a book online before but felt that I just had to with this book. I was so enthralled in the lives of Elizabeth and Nathaniel that I just couldn't put it down. I kept saying to my friends that I was going to cry when I finished the book because I felt like I had come to know the characters and had travelled through all their trials and tribulations with them and would feel like there would be an empty space left after finishing the book. I disagree with some of the negative comments made regarding the one dimentional nature of the characters.. isn't reading supposed to be for pleasure and to transport you into another time and place... in a world where so many bad things happen why can't there be seemingly good characters and obviously bad characters (tv does this all the time and we still watch it!). I thought it was just wonderful and can't wait for the next adventure... I hope that Sara Donati has many more adventures in mind to come! This book is meant to be read and enjoyed and then some! I can't wait for Dawn on a Distant Shore!

Summary: Entranced
Review: I read this book as a book on tape. I found myself making excuses for taking a drive, taking the long way home, and sitting in the car after each arrival to "collect my thoughts". Once you get involved in the lives of Elizabeth and Nathaniel you won't be able to put it down. A truly wonderful read!
