Summary: Pros & Cons, literally
Review: First, I've taken a liking to recently reading books re: personal finance and investing. This book, though, only tells you how to make money after already having it. Not all of us can go to the bank and get a "$7000 certified check" to create an "investment property." Kiyosaki sounded stuffy and stuck on making money off of other people, using them in a way that made me dislike this style of promoting wealth.In his defense, Kiyosaki does lay out some key advice in terms of how and when (after they pay themselves) corporate America pays taxes. Also, the part about Manhattan is pretty sweet. He has some good diagrams and quotes; nevertheless, they (quotes) still sound hackneyed and tired. (You can find them in every finance book: "Winners aren't afraid of losing" ; "Failure is part of success" etc. Yawn.) If you have an excess of money you can burn, his ideas MAY work for you--if, however, you don't have that extra $50,000 in your savings account, this book will not help you as much as some others. Don't waste your time. Or, how about this: just save it for light reading on the airplane or at the beach--this way, at least you will look important and intelligent and, most important, wealthy. My best advice though: buy the book now, hang onto it, sell it in 10 years, put your capital gains into your 1031 tax-deferred exchange, then buy a larger, more expensive book!!

Summary: Good starting place
Review: This book really serves as an initial motivational tool to get someone started thinking about money in a sensible way. By NO MEANS is it a bible of getting rich. It is a good theorectical approach on how the rich stay rich, and in some cases, how they got rich in the first place. The best theme I took away from this book was that in order to achieve financial freedom, I must first learn how money really works. Since my reading of this book, I have read and continue to read more books and articles on financial independence, thus strengthening my "Financial IQ" as RK puts it. There is no doubt that I have benefited from this book. Those who wrote other comments vilifying the author may simply just be afraid (and lazy) of cutting their ties to "the man."

Summary: Easier Said Than Done
Review: I enjoyed reading this book because it is kind of like a fairy tale. Kiyosaki tells stories about how easy it was for him to make money, and if the reader follows his simple rules then we will become as rich as he. I liked this book because I did not struggle to get through it, although there were some unrealistic parts which were not so easy to read. The author is extremely repetitive throughout the book, and I don't know whether it was intentional, so as to engrave ideas into the reader's mind, or just lack of anything better to say. I recommend reading this book if you have money and a job. Considering I have neither this book was not very helpful to me. I believe this book could be beneficial to some, and I guess Kiyosaki's motivation for writing this book was just to share with the world how he got rich.

Summary: The "System" that Made Mr. Kiyosaki Rich
Review: If you carefully read "Rich Dad Poor Dad" you will find the system that made the author a rich man. The system is NOT wise investments or low liabilities and high assests, nor is it business acumen or investing wisdom. No, his system was the writing of a book (this one) that is repetitious, low on substance and factual content, but which promises the reader that they too can be as successful as the author. The trouble is Mr. K presents NO proof whatsoever of his own success. He toots his own horn a lot. But there's not much behind the noise. There have been a number of exposes written about Kiyosaki. A little research and you'll find them easily. If you're interested in knowing what this author is really about, do a little homework, then, if you're still interested, buy the book. Reviewer: L. Review: Despite the low rating for this book here at Amazon, RDPD is still in the top 20 of all books being sold as recoreded by reputable ratings, based on actual book sales, not mouse clicks. Books like Rich Dad Poor Dad, Cashflow Quadrant, Rich Dad's Guide to Investing and others inthe series are like a breath of fresh air compared to what has been on the bookstands before it.
That is why this book concinues to be a best seller despite feeble attempts by people here at Amazon (and for what reason???) to do otherwise. Great book Robert! Happy Easter!

Summary: Understanding What Money Is
Review: I borrowed this book from the business office of the university I attend and find it hard to put down. Kiyosaki lays the foundation as to how money works for the individual and why people have such a hard time managing it. People use credit as a source of income only to generate more liabilities and have to work more to pay them off. Some people are quick to put it down because they feel that he's a quack but he is clear on what is an asset and what is a liability.
His book distincts that being rich and looking rich are worlds apart. People who define themselves as rich because of the clothes they wear on their back or the brand car they drive, are fooling themselves. The real rich are people who spend below their means and have a mind set about money and how it is utilized. People who are pursuing a "career" are really looking for a job to acquire things that have little, if any value. The rat race can be a nightmare if one doesn't have a personal plan that includes financial responsibility and knowledge.

Review: People who have given the book a 1-star review make you wonder if they even got past the table of contents. They are dissappointed that Kiyosaki didn't tell them the "how-to's" or detailed step-by-step process to get rich. Well, even the authors prefaced the book by saying the book is NOT a "how-to-get-rich" book. It's more of a guide on HOW TO THINK ABOUT THINGS (money and wealth) and PERCEPTION ABOUT THINGS.
Heck, Kiyosaki even says in his book to buy the "how-to" books from other authors. Without clarity on how to think about these things, how are you going to spot the "gimmicks" from the real rewarding schemes? There was one reviewer who said he'd rather read Peter Lynch's book. Yeah, Kiyosaki recommended the same thing in his book. Read Peter Lynch--definitely a good guide in investment. Actually, in the book, Kiyosaki recommends other people/books to read upon. You are reading the reviews right now because you haven't made up your mind yet whether to get the book or not. Ask yourself this question: With $15, would you rather watch a movie and eat popcorn and have a good time for a night? Or, for twelve freaking dollars, you get to find out things ABOUT YOURSELF and maybe, in the process, LEARN ABOUT THINGS that will DRAMATICALLY CHANGE your life? Nah, books suck and movies are good. Have fun at the movies. I heard Kill Bill 2 is good....
