Summary: An irrelevant but amusing piece of paranoid fiction
Review: Ann Coulter is merely the latest in a dubious tradition of self-promoters who have discovered that if you say enough outrageous things, you can get yourself an opportunity to say them on television. She is a sideshow attraction, not the main event. Her only significance in the war between Left and Right is diverting attention to herself, and away from the machinations of the real players in the game.
She excels in this role. She has a bizarre [physcial] appeal and willingness to shoot her mouth off that make her a natural on television. If she were witty instead of just mean-spirited and nasty, maybe she could be the Right's answer to Sandra Bernhardt. But in the book Slander, she adds a dangerous new twist. In her book she has included, and heavily publicized, 780 or so footnotes, in the hope that their very heft will buy Slander a credibility not shared by the books of, say, Bernard Goldberg, Sean Hannity, or (on the Left) Mike Moore. This symbol of accuracy and scholarship is meant to reduce skepticism, tricking people into thinking that her rants are factually-based rants.
Her footnotes do a poor job of supporting the assertions she makes. Many assertions go unfootnoted; many others are not supported by the footnote cited. Still others show signs of selective quotation, where once the entire article or quotation is examined, it implacably points in some direction other than what Ms. Coulter would like us to think. This means that the footnotes are worse than useless, they are misleading. ...

Summary: This book embarrasses the Republican party.
Review: I read this book in the hopes of finding a well reasoned, well organized, well written arguement. Slander is, in actuality, circular in reasoning and a text book lesson of how not to journalistically support your arguements. Ann Coulter states her point in a sentence without support and moves on to the next attack, presenting what is opinion as fact. And the sum of this book comes to attack after attack after attack. The vast majority of Coulter's support for her stated opinions being editorials and more opinion, what she creates is a structurally unsafe tower of arguement that collapses halfway through the book. Her arguement culminates in the self-proclaimed patriot's attack on Al Gore for mistaking the national motto as "e pluribus unum" in a speech; that is, however, the correct national moto, not "pluribus e unum," as Coulter contends. In a half hearted attempt to lambast political opponents for hate and monopolistic control of media and debate, this book is an inadvertent and ironic window into the political and journalistic philosophies of Ann Coulter. In short -- the title is captivating, and the story is shamefully and embarrassingly disorganized and insulting to the argument Coulter is attempting to make.

Summary: A Real Reader and Review
Review: If you want some good commentary. Read Ann's book. Ignore the those commentaries that are just trying to hurt her. Find out for yourself. It's worth reading.

Summary: Hillary Clinton is NOT America's smartest woman
Review: Ann Coulter is absolutly brilliant! With this excellently researched and thourghouly documented book she exposes the left for what it is, liars whose only way of winning is by personal attack. In this book she exposes how...

The left can only win debates by calling their oponents stupid

Liberals have opnely lied about the bias in the media

Liberals have a double standard in how they treat Republicans and Democrats

Leftists like AlGore have twisted the Bible to their own beliefs. (Cain and Able a story about pollution? Give me a break!)

Liberals like AlGore have openly lied during their campaings. (Syaing his mother sang him the look for the union label song as a baby. Too bad it wasn't written until Gore was 27!!)

Liberals have to hide their agenda behind code words like "pro choice" or a "woman's right to choose"

Feminists have helped to destroy our society.

With all these issues and many more Ann COulter exposes the left as the traitors they are. We need more women like her in our country. God Bless Ann Coulter and God Bless America!!

Summary: Don't look for truth here...
Review: I would say that the title of Ann Coulter's book is exactly that, except for one thing - in print, it's called libel, and this book is nothing more than a libelous attack on liberals, who she sets out to blame for anything that she can think of, without stopping to care if she's right or not. Miss Coulter relies on shock and biting humor, not documented facts - she's a blonde Rush Limbaugh. She has come to fame in the same manner that many of her cohorts, such as Bill O'Reiley and Chris Matthews have - a sharp tongue and gallons of hot air to go around.

Sure, trying to find a book on politics that isn't excessively one-sided is like trying to find a pearl in Siberia, but if you want a pro-conservative book that is worth some merit, don't look here. Miss Coulter, it appears, cannot distinguish between truth and lies (she *is* an attourney), and she goes too far with her insults, leaving any shred of decency at the door. Once, on a show, she said to a caller, a crippled Vietnam Vet who had lost his legs, that "it's because of people like you that we lost that war."

I'm a liberal mostly, but I will listen to the other side - if they have something of merit to say besides lashing insults at everyone with a different point of view. Don't waste your money on this - keep it or buy something that's worth the paper it's printed on.

Summary: News to Liberals!: The truth hurts, doesn't it?
Review: Absolutely great and factual. Ann confirms what becomes so blatantly obvious. Liberals have ruined the intellectual debate in this country by their nonstop moaning. Meanwhile, what they preach to the masses, they don't bother following themselves. Great book!

Summary: Well documented expose of liberal media bias
Review: Coulter's outspoken exposure of liberal bias against conservatives is factual and thoroughly researched. Liberals will attack this book on style, saying Coulter is not polite enough and her critique is even rude. But, then, liberals never seem to notice the vicious diatribes against conservatives that liberals so often launch without any documentation at all. Well, give me content over style every time. A very informative read for any open-minded person.

Summary: Slander: Liberal Lies About the American Right
Review: Ann Coulter tells it like it is with no political correctness and no apologies. She may be the Carville/Begala of the right with two important differences,,,she speaks the truth with wit and shes 1000% better looking.

Liberals will hate this book and "Slander" her for exposing them for what they are. When she throws a stone at liberals, one can hear their collective "ouch"

Summary: What more can be said?
Review: If indeed the Liberal consperacy existed, this book would never have been published, and Ms. Coulter would not be featured so prominently on the cable news shows. It brings about a nice chuckle in my face to see the irony of her books "popularity" actually discrediting its primary message. Well done Ann, any critic could not have done any better. P.S.: Love your hair.

Summary: Liberals are evil, now give me your money
Review: Many people have a big problem with Ann Coulter because they actually practice using that squishy bit of gray matter in their skulls.

Ann Coulter is a joke.

This book is about hate, it's about name calling. It's about how screaming about how evil liberals are, and then turning around and doing the same thing--name calling. Slander.

I've had many a good laugh thumbing through this in bookstores since I will not think about paying the conveniently bloated price for this book.

Ann Coulter is either:

a) insane
b) very smart and very rich from exploiting idiots

In the assembly line of people dedicated to making 'liberal' a swear word, Ann Coulter takes the cake. Over the past 15 years or so, certain factions of the Republican party have latched onto the Next Big Thing when it comes to vitriol: Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter. It's old, folks. It's disgracing that party. Liberals are not separate species. Neither are conservatives.

Are you fairly represented on EVERY SINGLE ISSUE by one party or the other?

I would buy an autobiography of Carrot Top before I spent a dime on this thing.
