Rating: Summary: required reading Review: This book should be required reading. Bill tackles both sides of the isle. This book gives insight to the reality of what is going on in America
Rating: Summary: Spin This Critcics Review: Bill O'Reilly has done it again. I love his show and his book, though magnificiently crafted, do his opinions no justice. These interviews are incredible because whether its Al Sharpton or Bill Clinton, O'Reilly tells them exactly what he thinks of their opinions and stances. O'Reilly also editorializes interviews done by other people to get his point across to the reader. This is one of the best books I have ever read from its message to its writng, I love this book. People critcize O'Reilly for his bluntness, but I praise O'Reilly for refusal to conform and for stating his true feelings.
Rating: Summary: He's the same in here as he is on t.v. Review: I admit. I like Bill O'Reilly. I would not, however, like to be a guest on his television show, The Factor. O'Reilly's blunt,sometimes-almost-rude style has won him millions of viewers, some support him, and of course some don't. But putting his personality and interviewing style aside, I find myself agreeing with him most of the time. And that was why I liked this book. This book is simply a transcript of interviews conducted by Mr. O'Reilly with some of the most prominent people in the country. O'Reilly also provides useful background information and commentary to every chapter, albeit the book is a few years old now. This book is short, easy to understand, and chock full with O'Reilly's personality. I found the book beneficial and I know you can too, whether you agree with the man or not. My only question is this: When, Mr. O'Reilly, is your next book coming out dealing with the issues of the last few years with, as you put it yourself, "the powerful and famous in America"?
Rating: Summary: Non-Leftist College Student loves the book Review: In a world of socialist media moguls such as Ted Turner, anti-american Hollywood actors/actresses, and way over the deep end leftist professors it's a sigh of relief to hear someone like O'Reilly. Definitly a conservative slant, but if it appears to be the truth... I highly recommend this book to anyone searching for the truth, and anyone scoffing at this should read it for a reality check.
Rating: Summary: Rags To Riches: Bill O'Reilly's Amazing Talent Prevails Review: Bill O'Reilly was small-time, a blue collar kid living an average American life. Now, he's the most powerful, popular, loathed, and feared man on television. I admire Mr. O'Reilly because he's never laid down to powerful people seeking to advance less-than-righteous agendas, be it Dan Rather, Jesse Jackson, or Trent Lott. This book is a triumph because it holds the people some Americans consider powerful accountable for the enormous amount of negative influence they pour into American society. The celebrity culture is a cancer on America, where people not qualified to teach a high school history course are given microphones to spew propaganda against anyone critical of their fictitious lifestyle. Mr. O'Reilly confronts the powerful like few ever had, and this book is a testament to his committment to honesty, accountability, and common sense. Buy it!
Rating: Summary: Step up to the plate and be responsible Review: GREAT BOOK! I couldn't put the book down and it was an easy read. My favorite piece in the book was at the end when Bill mentions having this frequent nightmare...too darn funny. I couldn't stop smiling. Bill gets right to the point no matter who is in the hotseat. If you are one that opts to sit on the fence on controversial issues, you will not go unnoticed.
Rating: Summary: Good book.....Obvious O'Riely is a Republican Review: Being a Democrat and watching "The O'Riely Factor" on Faux News may seem strange to some people. But the truth is that Bill, obviously a Republican, is very interesting and gives credit to where it's due (Democrats and Republicans). He stands for what he believes in and makes sure he gets his point across. Great TV Show, great host, ok book (could've made it more balance). At least it isn't written by Ann Coulter. That woman cant write a book with facts in it. She fills her book with her OPINION and trys to pass it off as a fact. O'Riely fills his book with some facts and some opinions.....
Rating: Summary: O'Reilly in Palatable Doses Review: I am a nightly viewer of O'Reilly's The Factor newsmag, but though I share many of his views (and often his outrage), I find that his manner is often too grating for the end of my day. The format of this book, however, was perfect for me. It is arranged in short, and for the most part self-contained vignettes that I read on my morning and evening commutes. I found that I like O'Reilly best in these small doses, and highly reccommend the book to both his avid fans and more lukewarm viewers alike.
Rating: Summary: You'll Enjoy Your Journey Through The No Spin Zone Review: Is there anyone on the planet who doesn't have at least some idea of who Bill O'Reilly is? He is best known as the host of Fox News Channel's top-rated program, The O'Reilly Factor; he is also the number one best-selling author of a book by the same name. It is not a news program in the sense that it doesn't report news but instead has the capacity, more often than not, to make news. There is kind of a train-wreck fascination to observing O'Reilly work and it shines through, in spots, in THE NO SPIN ZONE. O'Reilly is capable of asking just about anything, a tactic that has earned him the reputation of being rude. O'Reilly's questions, though, are his reason for being. They are not rude questions; they are simply questions that need to be asked and, more importantly, need to be answered. It is doubtful that Saddam Hussein would ever consider sitting down for an interview with Bill O'Reilly. O'Reilly, unlike Dan Rather, would have left the kid gloves at home. That is not, however, because he is a fan of George Bush, who has been in the No Spin Zone a time or two. O'Reilly is akin to Arizona Senator John McCain in that he is accused of being conservative but does not fit the definition of either "conservative" or "liberal." O'Reilly points out in THE NO SPIN ZONE that he believes global warming is real, but that the environmental movement has hurt America; that he doesn't believe in the death penalty, but only because it is too soft a punishment; and that, while he would not outlaw abortion, he considers it a ghastly procedure that should be restricted and views it as a human rights issue. All of these positions raise the ire of conservatives and liberals alike, though not at the same time and not for the same reason. However, it is not unusual to find yourself wanting to kiss the screen one moment and put your foot through it the next, no matter what your political persuasion may be. The book THE O'REILLY FACTOR was primarily about O'Reilly, but THE NO SPIN ZONE is mostly about O'Reilly's television program and what has occurred during some of his more notable interviews. Almost all of the chapters have a format. Each begins with an exchange between O'Reilly and a guest, followed by some extended written comments by O'Reilly; an edited transcript of the exchanges between O'Reilly and his guest du jour; and some additional editorial comments by O'Reilly. O'Reilly made his bones by posing hard questions to people as diverse as James Carville and George W. Bush, Susan Sarandon and Laura Schlessinger. His insights of, and exchanges with, these individuals are found in THE NO SPIN ZONE. Similarly, those who have declined his invitations to sit and chat --- Hillary Clinton, Al Gore and Jesse Jackson, among others --- are spotlighted in his book as well. O'Reilly is sunlight and his questions are disinfectant; there are those who can stand his questions and those who scurry for the baseboards. THE NO SPIN ZONE can help you sort out who is who, if you don't already know. THE NO SPIN ZONE is a quick read. O'Reilly's style is conversational to a fault; one can almost hear his voice as each sentence is read. The chapters can be perused in any particular order, depending on the reader's interest. While it is doubtful that even the most vociferous observer of current events will find everything in here interesting, it is a near-certainty that everyone will find at least something worth reading here. And while the flavor of the show does not always translate well to the printed page, THE NO SPIN ZONE, like its predecessor, will no doubt encourage those unfamiliar with O'Reilly to check out his television show at least once. If that is O'Reilly's purpose in publishing THE NO SPIN ZONE, he has accomplished it. --- Reviewed by Joe Hartlaub
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: I think this book was an amazing book. Bill O'Reilly is one of the most intelligent men and he challenges every political leader to come out with the truth. I had a good time reading the book and I finsihed it quickly. The book isn't very long and it ends on a good note. I learned a lot about the American govt, at least from Bill's view and it was all very interesting to read. By the way I enjoy the evilness in him. I give it 2 thumbs up!
