Summary: oh dear god
Review: About five or six years ago I read a prepublication version of this book, which was softcover and had an audiocassette with it. I wouldn't recommend this to people who tend towards nightmares, or who have weak stomachs. The brutality and sadism of the crimes, and the detail which is supplied is enough to chill even the strongest constitution. Gaskins is a true serial killer's serial killer.... the violence, and stealth of his crimes is stunning; not only will you never hitchhike again, you may never sleep again. It took me a long time to drive memories of this book from my mind, and it honestly traumatized me, though I couldn't put it down to save my own life while I was reading it. Don't worry, there's no risk of sloppy empathy here....

Summary: This book has haunted me....
Review: As a nurse and an avid reader of true crime, I thought I had seen or read it all. I hadn't. As another reviewer here said, this book will stay with you. I read this book years ago, but have never forgotten it. I was so sickened by it, I wanted to stop reading it and throw it out, but I couldn't. I had to read every last word. How does that quote go? "...and when you look into the abyss, the abyss also looks into you..."? That's an accurate description of how this book affected me.

The horrible atrocities perpetrated by the monster who wrote this book were described with relish, wistfulness, and total diregard for humanity.

There is true evil in this world and this killer is the epitome of evil.

I can only hope that there is a special room in Hell, just for him.

Summary: The Real Deal,Not for True Crime Dilletantes!
Review: By far the most educational and disturbing book of it's kind that you will encounter.Nothing I can say can convey the horror of watching these events through the eyes of the killer. This one is a true gut check, and casual readers of this type of literature may not be prepared for this.Remember, you have been warned!

Summary: Not for the Faint of Heart
Review: Final Truth is serial killer Gaskins' account of his entire life, birth to chair. He paints vivid pictures of many atrocious crimes, though most aren't factually verified. After reading through the shocking account of Pee Wee's first "Coastal Kill" I considered burning the book and writing SOMEONE an angry letter saying it should not be possible for people to buy books like this. It left me feeling empty and weird for having read it. No book has ever unleashed such an outpour of (previously unknown) emotions in me. Although I won't be reading it again any time soon,I would like to say it is a must-have for true-crime fans and anyone even remotely involved in the field of psychology.

Summary: Final Truth
Review: Final truth was the most engrossing book I have ever read. I wouldn't recommend this book to the sqwimish. It tells the story from the killer's point of view. It is very graphic and hides nothing. It was interesting to hear how the killer felt. If you want to see things from the killer's point of view, this is a must read.

Summary: Hoss Puckey
Review: First time I read this I was sickened beyond belief. Cannibalism, torturing people with molten lead... there seemed to be no sickness Pee Wee had not practiced.

Then I got to thinking. Pee Wee claimed he killed over 100 peple in a fairly small geographical location -- namely, the Svannah-Hilton head-Myrtle Beach axis. It strains the bounds of credulity that 100 people could disappear frm a fairly small area and a task force not be formed -- I mean, Southern policemen, TV stereotypes aside, are NOT stupid. Next, there's PEe Wee's instruction by the "Wise Men of Elizabeth Street," which we are to expected to believe are Mafioso. Sorry. Don't work like that. Made men in th4e mob aren't going to share secrets with a little runty cracker like Pee Wee. Doesn't happen.

So what do we have? Pee Wee, who himself said he was disappointed his crimes hasn't received the attention of Bundy's, making a play for immortality by sharing his solitary-cell fantasies with a journalist who arrarently did not do the leg-work to double-check Pee Wee's aassertions. Pee Wee isn't the worst anything -- he remains what he always was, a loser and a liar. I'm surprised Colin Wilson fell for this twaddle. Folks, do your homework. Serial killers lie. Look at that Lucas feller in texas.

Summary: The best, the very best autobiography of a serial killer
Review: How can I put this book into words? This book completely goes into the life and times of a serial killer. It tells about his feelings, and details everything, so you miss nothing. You are there step by step from the first to the last kill. Believe me, you will not put this book down. This book is better than perfect and a must read for anyone interested in criminal justice.

Summary: FINAL TRUTH
Review: I am a Criminal Justice Major and have studied SK behaviors for over 20 years. For those of you who intend to pursue careers in the legal profession, law enforcement, or mental health ... this book is a MUST. Instead of reading academic literature about theories of the motives of serial killers, Final Truth is the ultimate look into the soul of a monster, in his own words.

I had to separate from the horrific deeds of Donald (Pee Wee) Gaskins and look into what motivated him to carry out his lust for killing.

As "reasonable" observers of individuals like Pee Wee Gaskins, our reaction is to recoil in disgust and rightly so. But, in order to find out WHY these predators kill, we need to look at what set of circumstances came together to create this kind of depraved individual.

Final Truth not only takes the reader on a sojourn into the act of killing by one man, it also takes you into his mind, his rationale, his motive, and WHY ... to "cure his bothersome feelings".
