Rating: Summary: Fantastic book. Review: For all the superficial rhetoric that Duke is a racist (promulgated chiefly by our junk media) this book will open the public's eye. Duke solidifying here opinions shared by tens of thousands of Americans afraid to engage them in discourse. I think that if Duke's most ardent critics sit down, keep an open mind, and read this they might find themselves concuring with it. Duke, to me, is the embodiment of the Nietzschean superman just for standing up for these causes in such an anxiety-prone (or pollitically correct) time.
Rating: Summary: Very interesting, and well documented Review: The polictically correct crowd will certainly condem this book, without ever taking the time to read it. However, this is a real attempt to explain the racial differences that exist in our society. Differences that we are all being forced to deny, for fear of being labled as a "racist".
Rating: Summary: A logical, well-referenced book. Review: Highly recommended for logical readers interested in truth rather than "pie in the sky" illusions created by the media. Recommended for those who prefer reading material that is very detailed and well-documented to the opposition's hysterical name-calling tactics. The intelligence and sincerity of David Duke, the real man rather than the media portrayal, shine forth in this incredible book. I congratulate you, Mr.Duke, for the courage you displayed by publishing MY AWAKENING, an obvious labor of love for your people.
Rating: Summary: My Own Reason for Reading David Duke's Book. Review: For anyone who hasn't already purchased this book because they thought David Duke wouldn't candidly tell the entire story, or because they don't quite have the same views about the future of white America, permit me a few moments:This is the most relevant and honest biography of an American politician in our time. Over the years Duke lost and won local elections, each time coming back on a stronger national footing because what he says is too relevant to be ignored.I know he is no ordinary person because it was my fate to be one of his early supporters, and I observed him as he endured one of the greatest challenges anyone can possibly face, an attempt by opponents to have him physically silenced.Along with David Duke and other members of his National Party, I was nearly murdered in 1972 when the New Orleans Police Department, guided by an illegal Federal program to disrupt the activities of effective European American leaders, arrested us with a long list of bizarre charges never intended to be carried to a conviction. At that time the New Orleans Police Department had a sordid reputation for minority domination, corruption, a lack of training, and a disregard for the rules of law. Duke's National Party grew increasingly popular, and the establishment was unable to contain it with legal methods; so it certainly shouldn't surprise anyone that the entire National Party staff was thrown into Parrish Prison to be terrorized.Among the country's most notorious institutions, once the subject of a popular song by singer Johnny Cash, Parrish Prison is known to New Orleans residents as the "Festering Maggot." Acting as puppets for an illegal government program, either known as Cointelpro or modeled on it, some New Orleans police officers recognized how these temporary incarcerations could be used to obstruct a political movement for whites. And prison conditions never will be normal while they are serving a political system that creates racial hatred and uses the conditions created to torment anyone opposed to the false doctrine of equality. As the conditions we endured are well detailed in Duke's book, I won't recite them, but you need to know that it was so extreme that it emotionally overwhelmed nearly everyone's ability to focus on their survival. The only exception to that paralysis was David Duke; for only he retained his full measure of internal fortitude, imagination, and aggressiveness. His character saved our very lives.I live in California now, and former Representative Duke didn't ask me to say anything, but I feel compelled to tell you that his book is well worth your time.Hamilton Barrett
Rating: Summary: A book filled with truth. Review: I'm a biology teacher and I've been studying these issues for years. Issues such as racial differences, eugenics, darwinism and the works of Sir Francis Galton, etc. and I must say that the truth may hurt, but it is, nevertheless, the truth. By reading these reviews, one can see who the real enemies of the white race are. The guy who criticized him about the "talmud" read one chapter of the book and gave it one star. How can you judge an entire book by reading one chapter?
Rating: Summary: A Brilliant Masterpiece! Review: Make no mistake about it - this book WILL change the course of history! I read all the time and I never had so much fun reading a book. Mr. Duke is very articulate and intelligent, this book is proof of that. He smashes the absurd notion(and blatant lie) that race is insignifigant. The people who called this "racist" or "hate" have obviously not read a single chapter of this great book. The media would have you think that racial thinking is only for idiots. Nothing could be further from the truth. This book does not apply to the unintellgent - it applies to every open-minded, logical, intelligent person, who is concerned about the future of their children. I am a White person with many Black friends and Jewish family members. I do not "hate" anyone, I approach all individuals as human beings. Nevertheless, I realize that it is time for mankind to wake up from his death bed. Race is the world's biggest problem and least understood. I know that most good-hearted people who read this will see the light of day. As Duke says, "It is a path to a renewed earth and a stairway to the stars." Yes it is. Despite the relentless character assasination on Mr. Duke, he's actually a very nice guy. The people who depict him as stupid - are actually upset because he is so much smarter than them. It kills them to know that the views of a "racist" apply to logical thinkers. I've read Michael Hart's "The 100 : a Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History" I am convinced that 2,000 years from know you will be able to find a similar book with David Duke amongst the top of the list.
Rating: Summary: Pseudo-science from a revisionist racist Review: While it may be politically advantageous for Mr. Duke to portray himself as a moderate thinker sincerely interested in the scientific truth of "race," this book strikes me as a cynical attempt to gloss over his past beliefs and actions to attract voters for his next political campaign.Race, at least in humans, is pretty much exclusively a cultural construct -- not something the great majority of biologists typically recognize (and I mean REAL biologists, with degrees from REAL universities, rather than Christian-right creationist diploma mills). The fact that Mr. Duke apparently believes there is such a thing biologically as a "white" or "European" race is proof enough that he doesn't know what he's talking about scientifically. The fact that he advocates eugenics to maintain such "racial purity" puts him in a long list of folks from Hitler to Shockley to Milosevic. So, in sum, if you want permission to hate people that look different from you, this is just the book to help you rationalize your hate. If you want to live and let live in an increasingly (sorry Dave) multicultural world, look elsewhere.
Rating: Summary: Civil War II Rages Across America in the year 2020 Review: With hateful literature like this being published, the solution to bettering racial relations in America is being pushed farther and farther away. The only thing that David Duke has proved is that he is a "redneck" racist...and that racism is STILL alive and well in 1999.
Rating: Summary: A very pleasant surprise Review: I became aware of this book after watching Meet the Press a few weeks ago. After observing how Mr. Duke maintained his composure during repeated, irrational attacks by Tim Russert (who I usually have a fair amount of respect for), my interest was piqued enough for me to purchase the book from Amazon.com Now that I have read Mr. Duke's book, I can honestly say that I am very glad that I happened to watch Meet the Press that morning. This is an extremely powerful and well-written book that is destined to be considered a classic. Mr. Duke methodically makes his case using a thoughtful and personal writing style, while presenting a dazzling array of facts biology, sociology, world history, and current events. Make no mistake about it, Mr. Duke has made his case quite well. Although much of the supporting evidence found in his book has become common knowledge to the more educated and literate in recent years, never before has all of it been collected, organized, and presented in such a coherent and logical fashion. The truth about race, intelligence, and behavior is now becoming quite apparent. After tens of thousands of scientific studies, done all over the world and in every imaginable fashion, nature has spoken over and over again. And it's time for us to face the facts - race does make a difference. To say otherwise is nothing more than arguing for how you "wish things were." In fact, Mr. Duke's detractors are really not much different than those who continue to believe that they can build a perpetual motion machine. It would be great if it were possible, but the laws of nature plainly deny that it can be done. This may not be what you want to hear, in either case, but that's just how things are. The real question leftover from the book becomes, what, if anything, should be done about the current policies imposed on us by our government? Or, to put it another way, is it really 'moral' or 'just' for the government to coerce people to associate in a way that is not in their nature or best interests? Mr. Duke raises a good question here, and I suspect that it will have to be answered sooner or later. Hopefully, this book will begin a honest and open dialog about the consequences of race differences and 'public' policy for our current society. I do know that the usual emotional rhetoric, superficial arguments, and name calling that quickly start whenever Mr. Duke (or anyone who shares his views) tries to speak cannot make the truth go away. I observed this approach during Mr. Duke's Meet the Press appearance, and have even noticed the same tactics used in some of the 'reviews' posted here (by people who probably haven't even read the entire book!). And the fact is, it simply isn't going to wash much longer. Logic and reason should dictate how we discuss issues - not: name calling. Finally, I have to say that this book was a pleasant surprise. Not something I would have ever planned on getting, but, I enjoyed reading it, will gladly keep it on my bookshelf, and plan to make reference to it often. A book like this only comes along once in a great while, so I would certainly urge everyone to read it
Rating: Summary: This book takes on science as well as politics. Review: This book, surprisingly, holds true to what is expressed in scientific journals and textbooks. I would not have read it, but someone recommend I read it in keeping with my publications on eugenics. Duke advocates both eugenics and evolutionary science in his analysis of how race impacts every American. I was pleasantly surprised to so a person with even his reputation having such and firm grasp of science and history. This is probably the best book to give to someone who needs a one-stop education on all the racial and multiculturalism issues facing white Americans. A must read for any white person that cares about their people's survival.
