Summary: Well-Grounded Insights...
Review: After wrestling with the content dilemma for several web sites...graphic intensive vs. copy focused...I found 'Net Words' to be very 'grounding' in providing the insights for both the average web amateur, and professional too. The reality is that people want reality when it comes products and services on the web...they are tiring of being blasted by graphics galore which really do nothing to appeal to intelligence. And, for those who have taken the easy, lazy route but avoiding appropriate online copy and opting for graphics, this book marks an easy path to learning how to write for the web...once and for all.

Summary: Without a doubt - the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT book you need!
Review: As an owner of an Internet business, this book has become our BEST REFERENCE that we have ever come across. Superbly written with the most helpful ideas and advice in 'plain English' that everyone can understand. Nick conveys his knowledge and expertise about writing online copy that WORKS in such an easy to understand way, that it can actually DOES WORK. This book is a MUST HAVE for anyone that owns a web-based business. Out of the several books we have read regarding online copy, especially SUCCESSFUL online copy, NET WORDS is the only one we've found to be the most comprehensive, offering such valid examples. Thank you Nick for writing such a valuable resource for everyone. A definite AWARD-WINNER!

Summary: Words are the answer
Review: Being the lead creative at a web consulting company in Japan I've noticed a lot of the problems the author mentioned about putting appropriate importance on good copywriting for the web. His advice has helped me a lot to keep my copy human, energetic, and infuse it with unique attitude. Avoid the corporate speak! Most importantly his advice about getting to know the user's voice in order to communicate in a convincing way. The same kind of book should be written for design! This is a great book for any designers, management and copywriters alike.

Summary: Does it job well, srictly for those wanting to crack the net
Review: I liked it. It is not your totally over the top, deep book about copy and words. If thats what you want this isnt it. If you are wanting tips, advice and good solid practical steps to write for the web this book does it.

Every chapter is a good one. If you want to know what works well on the web Nick covers some good changes in copy that work better for the web.

If you currently transfer your off-line over to on-line you must have net words. He showes you the massive difference from both and how to get it right.

Good approach and easy to understand. Pays for itself easily. Nice one Nick

Summary: Good for sales and promotion, bad for education
Review: If you are looking for a book that teaches you how to write web copy, this isn't it. After going through many of the author's articles on the web, I was expecting more from this book.

The author starts out promoting copywriters and how important writing good copy is. He constantly keeps repeating this point in several chapters. After reading the first few chapters you might tell yourself: "Hey, I do not need convincing that my website needs good copy! Get on already with telling me how I can go about writing good copy!" However, this never occurs. The author does give some examples of good vs. bad copy, but never gets to the point of telling you what route to take to better your own copy. There is no concise guidance in this book.

So if you have a website and need convincing that writing good online text is important, and if you have the money to hire a professional copywriter, then buy this book. Otherwise, save your money and read the articles on the author's website; they are much more informative and educational.

Summary: A must-read for Web developers and content providers
Review: Many web site designers, developers, and content providers place far too much emphasis on a site's design when it is really a site's content that motivates end users to take an action (purchase, subscribe, etc.)

With Nick's common-sense (and entertaining) approach to web copywriting, Net Words is a book that will help everyone have a better web site.

This is one of the few web books that will not leave my desk.

Summary: Words make the sale on the Web
Review: Net Words really makes you focus on the power of words. As Nick Usborne points out, on the Web, it is words that make the sale. Nothing could be more true. It is amazing that in such a text-driven environment, so little attention is often given to the text.

It can be a revelation for people to discover that the number one activity on the Web is reading. How are you going to be different online? As Nick points out, "Only words will set you apart."

This is an invaluable book for those involved in web content. It is highly readable and very practical. Nick Usborne knows his stuff. He is a professional, and every page of Net Words is full of clear, crisp ideas. After you've read it you will have learned truly useful things about how to make your content make that sale.

Summary: This is the inside track to writing online.
Review: Nick doesn't write about huge corporations, mega budgets, or streaming video super productions. He knows what really sells on your web site: the copy. He'll tell you how to craft copy that persuades visitors to take that next step.

A must-read for anyone responsible for writing online.

Summary: Wit, Style and Insight
Review: Nick Usborne hits the nail on the head (repeatedly) with this book.

This book provides a critical reminder of the importance of the words we use on web sites, and does it in a relaxed, way. Despite the wealth of information in it, including examples, rules, and lessons, this book doesn't come across as a lecture - it feels more like a chat with an old friend.

Buy it!
