Summary: A shining chapter in the Harry Potter series
Review: Like many I ran out early Saturday morning to buy Order of the Phoenix, like many I had to go to several stores (not having reserved my copy), like many I waited in lines to get my handso on it...the difference is I'm 27, not 7. I fell in love with Harry Potter when I picked up book I on sale years ago, and I have hungrily gobbeled up every book since. I feel as if Rowling's vision of this world, a world from her own mind that she creates with such vivid prose that I feel I'm a part of it, is becomming greater and greater with each passing book. The characters are growing, and we are learning so much more about Harry as he is now becomming a young man. All the things that any adolescent has to deal with so does Harry, and, or course, so much more. In Phoenix we are given our first true glimpses into the man that Harry will become, and how his world will unfold. Rowling gives us new insights into all the magic that we muggles miss that goes on every day right under our noses, and that even the most powerful wizard will have to go through some very human pain. The only bad thing I can say about this book is that I finished it in 3 days, and now I have to wait several years for the next one....if only I new a charm to speed things up.

Summary: A great new book, but a pretty bad year
Review: I, along with most readers in the known universe, anxiously awaited the fifth book in the Harry Potter series. I was not disappointed. Rowling has written Harry as an angry adolescent in this book, but he is still a realistic and likable boy. There is a tension throughout "Order" that kept me glued to the pages. My old favorite characters were back (Sirius, the Weasleys, Lupin, Mad-Eye, etc.), along with a nerve-wrackingly hate-worthy new teacher. While not overwhelmingly dark, this book is not as cheerful as the previous four. Instead, it is the logical follow-up to the end of "Goblet." Voldemort has returned, and you can't expect Harry to be quite as happy-go-lucky as he was before. Still, it was very entertaining. If you are waiting to buy this book until you've heard the reactions, I say go for it! Now I just have to wait for the sixth one (sigh).

Summary: The Best One Out of All The Harry Potter Books!
Review: I have just finished reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (The Fifth Book) and I have to say that I enjoyed this one more than any of the other 4 books. I got the book at borders the night it came out, and I didn't go to sleep that noght because I was to busy reading it. I have to that this book made me cry at the end. This book gave me many different emotions. It made me stay at the edge of my seat as I wish to say. As most of you know it is Harry Potter's fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. At the end of the fourth year/book, we found out that Lord Voldemort returned, and no one belivies him (only a couple of people). So that starts the story of the Harry's "worst year at Hogwarts" I think so. People talk about him, and they all make fun of him. As his Lighten-shape scar on his head starts to burn really bad, and has horrbile dreams, Harry is forced to fight with Lord Voldemort army. J.K. Rowling is a great writer and I hope she can continue to write books, not just about Harry Potter.

Summary: Not the best of the series, but still a good read!
Review: While the Order of the Phoenix is not, in my opinion, the best of the Harry Potter series, (I think that title goes to book 3 the Prisoner of Azkaban) it was still a fun read that managed to prick my interest for many of the 896 pages.
The upside -- Even though The Order of the Phoenix follows the same cookie cutter sequence we've come to expect from JK Rowling's Harry Potter books, here in book 5 she does give us a fresh perspective into Harry's character. He's finally become a real teenager!! He's moody and morose, and prone to flashes of anger, and has no idea what to do on a date! In this one we see that the line between good and evil, is not always so easy to draw...Harry's father wasn't always a good guy, and Snape...well we can feel bad for him in this one. And, while this one doesn't answer all of our questions about Harry and Voldermort (that obviously has to wait until the final chapter of book 7) it still works with enough of the mystery to keep us going.
The downside --- This book is just far too long. Several hundred pages could have been eliminated without skipping a beat. There is just to much unnecessary repetition, and to many subplots that don't really go anywhere and easily could have been eliminated.
Also, I didn't feel that there was enough of the mystery sleuthing we've come to expect from the kids.

All in all, any children's book of this length that I'll go through in two days, has to be called a good read!

Summary: SMASHING
Review: I am a 24 year old educated young man who has come not only to love the Harry Potter series but become one of the legions of Potter fans who run out to purchase the new books first day. If anyone wonders why, they need only read the latest. JK Rowling is possibly the most talented storyteller of the past century. The world she has created in the Potter books is awe inspiring enough. But the depth she manages to give the situations and feeling of the characters, especially those of Harry himself, are unparalleled. Words can not due justice the way this book reads and speaks. The emotional heft combined with the pure fantasy and taut suspense of Year 5 make it unlike any literary experience ever. WOW! If you happen to read this JK, you are amazing and deserve every dollar and accolade you receive.

Summary: eh. it could have been better
Review: not to much action. especially w/ voldormort or death eaters. kinda slow. i was wondering when the book was going to pick up. the plot was a bit weak, based on one little thing and there are two plot mistakes that i found. compared to the 4th book, this was a bit dissappointing.

the personality of harry is drastically different from the previous books and im not sure if this was intentional. other people's personalitiles roles also seems to have changed, even ron's and hermonie's actions seem a bit off. not sure if this is supposed to reflect the children's growing up but even dumbledore's role changed.

Summary: The magic just isn't there
Review: I'm not the best reviewer out there, but since I finished the book and noticed no one else had put up a review yet, I htought I'd have my say.Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix is lacking something that the other four books had. I cannot articulate exactly what this novel is missing, I'll leave it to a better reviewer. All I can say is tha when a major character died I barely felt a thing. Also, unlike the other four Harry Potter books, the ending seems forced and had no important surprises. Overall, this book was less enjoyable to read than the others. Some may be wondering, "If you didn't like it that much, then how did you finish an 800 page book in 2 days?" Well, it's because it's Harry Potter, and even though it may not be on par with the others in the series, it still keeps you engrossed and wanting to find out what happens next.

Summary: Each HP Book Gets Better (and longer!)
Review: There is a door at the end of a silent corridor. And it's haunting Harry Potter's dreams. Why else would he be walking in the middle of the night, screaming in terror?
Here are a few things on Harry's mind:
-A Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher with a personality like poioned honey
-A venonmous, disgruntled house-elf
-Ron as kepper of Gryffindor Quidditch team
-The looming terror of the end-of-the-term Ordinary Wizarding Level exams(O.W.L.'s)

...and of course, the threat of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. In the richest instalment of J.K. Rowling's seven part story, Harry Potter is faced with the unreliability of the very government of the magical world and the impotence of the Authorities of Hogwarts.
Despite this (or perhaps of it), he finds depth and strange depth and strength in his friends, beyond what he even knew; boundless loyalty; and unbearable sacrafice.
Though thick runs the plot (as well as the spine), readers will race through the pages and leave Hogwarts, like Harry, wishing only for the next train back.

Summary: Potter Soars In the Order of the Phoenix!
Review: J.K. Rowling first caught me with her first book two years ago. I'd listened to anti-Potter rhetoric for a while, but abstained from making an opinion until I could read the books with a fair and open mind.
There is a wide gulf between just reading a book and being caught up in a new world. With every word, I loved finding out more and more about Harry Potter. His first foray into the wizarding world was thrilling! Serpents, prophecies, the mysteries surrounding his parents deaths and the scar kept me entranced with each book!
But now, J.K. Rowling's style has matured with a fifteen year old Harry who exceeded my deepest hopes with Order of the Phoenix! He struggles with anger, frustrations from being protected and fights against the bias of the Ministry of Magic.
At times, the pages just flew by as I laughed over extremely humorous situations and held my breath at terrifying encounters.
And to leave you with one interesting thought... Guess which of Harry's friends over comes their fear and says Voldemort's name for the first time?
