Rating: Summary: Monster Review Review: The book Monster is a different book. It is about a 16 year old boy who is convicted of murder. Myers writes this book in a very different style of writing. I think by him writing in a "film/movie" it attracts the readers more and makes the reader more interested in the book, especially teenagers. I really enjoyed the book from beginning to end. It was a page turner book, I never wanted to put it down. The ending was great and very surprising.
Rating: Summary: Monster by Myers Review: Monster by Myers was a good book that I read during a Young Adult Literature course. It is about Steve Harmon and his struggle to be found inocent in a hopeless looking case. Myers does a good job making voices for each of the characters in this script like novel. In this novel, there are many characters to keep track of but once you read their parts, you will create a voice and a look, despit little description of looks, for them in your head. All the characters are important to the story and the script like formant allows the reader to get the real fact about the trial, not just skewed opinions from one point of view. Readers will also find themselves emotionally involved with Steve Harmon, the main character, and will be routing for him through out the book, wanting and hoping that he will overcome and succeed. The plot of the trial is a believable one, with two black man, one young and one cruel, being accused of robbery and murder. This may sound to you as stereotypical story which had me thinking throughtout the book that the outcome of Steve would be much different then the actual end of the novel. The story moves fast and will keep your attention until the end.
Rating: Summary: In Jail At Sixteen Review: 'Monster' by Walter Dean Myers is a story about a young boy named Steve Harmon who is thought to have commited the murder of the clerk at a local drugstore. Set in a detenion center in Manhattan, 'Monster' tells the story of survival in prison and in the courtroom. It is set up like a movie script, which allows the reader to guess if Steve is innconet or guilty. I personally loved the fast paced novel which almost trasported me inside of the story. It will keep readers geussing until the last virdict. This story making you think, and you will keep thinking about it even after you close the last page. Walter Dean Myers is a grest writer and he does wonderful work. This book really does deserve 5 stars!

Rating: Summary: Nothing special Review: This book is about a 16-year-old boy named Steve Harmon on trial for helping a robbery that ended in a murder. The whole book is based on him writing a movie and telling about jail. Its really quick of a read if you need to read a book fast. Overall its a well written book, but it gets kind of boring. Bu it was amazing how fast i read this book for school. I would only recommend the book if you need to read something fast but besides that there is no point to read it.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Book!!! Review: If you want a book that gets inside of a 16 year-old boy's head who is being tried for a crime then this is the story for you! Myers does a great job with making believable characters, you feel like you can relate to them! Steve to me was someone that I could have met right at school. The story moves at a comfortable pace so you don't feel lost or confused or even, bored. I couldn't put this book down and I dont think that you will be able to either, I would definitely call it a page turner. The setting is so descriptive and you feel as if you are right there along with the characters in the courtroom, and you feel the feelings that were felt before, and after the crime. The best part of the story would probably be the mystery along with the development of the main character Steve. He learns so much while being in jail, and you can see how he grows as a person. The lessons he learns could never be forgotten and it shows how well Myers has developed him. If mystery, crime, or just a good young adult novel is what you are craving going along with the trial of Steve Harmon and hearing the outcome is just the thing for you, this book is unforgetable.
Rating: Summary: Review for Monster Review: Monster by Walter Dean Myers was a very well written book. Set through the trial of 16 yr old Steve Hanson, convicted because a murder of a convinent store owner. Through the struggles of his trial Steve sets out the story in movie form. With the interesting way the plot was put and the array of characters from all backrounds we can fully understand Steve's emotions and hopes through this tough time in his life. Dialogue is like a script with the characters stories unfolding while they are on the stand. With glances to Steve's past and journal entries we are able to see and understand the depth of Steve. Very well written and imaginative.
Rating: Summary: Review of Monster by Sam Review: I thought this book was ok. It wasn't bad but it wasn't good. I really dislike how the author would change from scenes in the courtroom and flashback to Steve's childhood. It made things confusing and I would often have to read things over again. I also disliked the cameras. The way a camera would zoom in and pick up various activities also took up time and made the book seem as though it took forever to read. I understand that for the plot of the book the style was almost neccessary. If you're into this type of writing I'm sure you will like it but it's not my preference. But in contrast, the author did a nice job of matching personalities to the characters. He even got the street slang down pretty well, making the characters believable.
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: The great story MONSTER by Walter Dean Myers is about a young man named Steve Harmon who is on trial for felony murder. The book is very well written. Myers is a great author. I absolutely loved this story. Steve Harmon is only 16 and may have to spend the rest of his life behind bars. He says that he did nothing wrong. Not many people believe him though. He is on trial for a felony murder that took place at a local drugstore. In the book it also tells about his life before all this happened He does not want to rot behind bars. He could get 25 years to life if he is found guilty. This book was really good. It was very exciting and always kept you wondering. The story was written very well. When I read the book it felt like I was part of the story. This story was very interesting also. Myers wrote this book so well that I never wanted to put it down. I would recommend this book to anybody who likes a good book. As you can see MONSTER was a very interesting, well written, exciting book. It is mostly about Steve's court case and about how good his life was before all of this had happened.
