Summary: The best book ever! You have to read it!!!
Review: I liked this book a lot! This is because it retells the story of Noah and the flood with a few different twists and turns! This is the kind of book that is really hard to put down. The kind of book that when your parents call you to set the table you don't hear them until they tap you on the shoulder! This was a really great book and I think everyone should read it.

Summary: Wow!!!!
Review: That was a really good book, the best I have read so far, in fact. I really liked the re-telling of the ever-popular "Noal's Ark" story. L'Engle is a very descriptive writer. I think that everyone with a love for adventure should read this book.

Summary: You have to read this book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: Madeleine L'Engle is my favorite author because she really knows what she's talking about. I think she is the 1 author that i have read that combines fantasy, fiction, and just plain life so well that there must be no one else who writes like she does. I don't remember how many times i have read this book, but i will be rereading it till i die. I can't get enough of it!! So maybe it isn't her best book. So what? It is still beautifully written. I can't say how wonderful she is.

Summary: Sentimental
Review: I read this book a number of years ago and by far this is my favorite book by Ms. L'Engle. This is the story that I always remember of hers, an author whose writings I began reading in fifth grade and continue to read as a college student. Many Waters is particularly special for me because it was the first mainstream novel that I read during young adulthood that dealt with an entirely biblical story and I was incredibly impressed with the accuracy of the retelling. After reading Many Waters I re-read the biblical story of Noah and found that although L'Enlge took artistic lisence in her fictional reproduction, her story actually was very closely related to the history. Although the space/time travel is fictional, her account of the time period is beautiful and inspiring. I also love the story because it was what first made me realize that L'Engle is a Christian. Having always loved her works and then discovering that she has many works specifically about Christian faith, devotionals, and her own personal thoughts and reflections is wonderful. She is my favorite author, but she is also a very popular author in many age groups. She was inspiring to me because she is a very public personality who shares my most personal faith. But more than that, she is willing to open up her heart, her mind, and a piece of her soul to share The Message. Not only is this extremely important for those young adults for whom this story is geared, but her writing is bold, inspiring, and lovely. Her words are read by so many and her message so personal that not only does it influence those who have not heard the Word, but those who have, and who cherish it.

Summary: What went wrong?
Review: As a devout fan of the first three books about the Murrys, I was very disappointed with "Many Waters". At first, I thought that a book that dealt with Sandy and Dennys would be good, since the first three books did not say too much about them. I was wrong. Time seems to have altered Ms. L'Engle's style for the worse. Compared with her earlier masterpieces, much of the story rang false, from the computer-activated accidental "tessering" to the strange mix of mythological and geographically misplaced animals (Great Auks in the desert in the Middle East? Come on!) to the stilted dialogue. It felt as if a few good ideas of genuine L'Engle had been mixed in with a 3:00 AM grade-B space movie. There were a few touching moments here and there, mostly regarding Lamech or Yalith, but even those felt distinctly lacking compared with occurrences in the other Murry novels. The scenes with the assembled nephilim and seraphim seemed particularly affected, as did the attempts at seducing the twins.

This same kind of "L'Engle impostor" writing was present in "An Acceptable Time", which nonetheless managed to turn out to be a decent, if not a vintage L'Engle, journey. "Many Waters" was worse. It wasn't really horrible, but it felt like it compared with the other Murry books. If I had read it without knowing who the author was (the characters' names aside), I would not have guessed it was a work of Madeleine L'Engle. It lacks the powerful, flowing writing, the masterly plots, the intelligence, and the wonderful conclusions of her most moving works.

Summary: Another captivating story from Madeleine L'Engle
Review: Many Waters, sequel to A Wrinkle in Time, is a great story by Madeline L'Engle. This science fiction book features two twin boys: Sandy and Dennys Murry. Sandy and Dennys Murry have two scientists for parents and two other siblings- Meg, their older college sister, and Charles Wallace, their smart but younger brother. Both boys have blond hair and blue eyes. The setting of the story is the twins' house and a desert. In the story Sandy and Dennys go into their mother's lab. But unfortunately the twins don't see the "EXPERIMENT IN PROGRESS: PLEASE KEEP OUT" sign until it's too late, and Sandy and Dennys are whisked away to a desert. Then they learn that many waters are coming to flood the desert, and they can't get home! My favorite scene in the book is when Sandy and Dennys first see the unicorn because I would have liked to have been there. My favorite character in the book is Sandy because he never gets disappointed and is always ready for anything. I would recommend this book because in the book all the complicated science words were explained and it's just plain good! On a scale of one to ten I would rate Many Waters a ten because it's captivating and fun to read!

Summary: Fantastic Book!
Review: This was one of the best books I've ever read.I thought it was interesting the way the author took a biblical story and made it like a science fiction. When I first read this book I didn't know it was about Noah's arc, if I had I probably wouln't have read it(I'm not that religous)but I'm glad I did read it, because it was an great story.
