Rating: Summary: The most important book for girls We've ever seen! Review: This is the nicest illustrated book my wife & I have seen in years. Hats off to Norm Bendell!! The information in the book (besides advice on dairy/meat in the nutrition sections. If you really care about your child's health) is of the most valuabe teaching's parents/girls around the world should be taught. And the way its all presented is brilliant. Another powerful positive book by American Girl Library. We thank you for having the brains to publish a book of this kind. Every girl should own it between the ages of 8-14.
Rating: Summary: It is an astounding book for young teens!! They learn a lot! Review: I think this book is great!! They learn everything they need to know for when they go through puberty!! It's great!! It is wonderfully illustrated, and just an awesome book that every girl should have!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Very informative Review: This is a good book for preteens. It provides good information in a humorous way. Any girl ages 9-12 should own this book!
Rating: Summary: A little worried Review: I was looking for a book to share with my 10 year old who is starting to enter puberty, and liked everything about this book except the section on tampon use. I would have preferred she did not learn about tampons from this book.
Rating: Summary: Great Way to Break the Ice Review: I bought this book the day my oldest daughter started her period. I wish that I had bought it before so that she could have been better prepared for what was coming. I sat down with my nine year old and my eleven year old and we read the book from cover to cover. They learned so much from the book. I even learned a couple of things. It is an easy read that covers many aspects of grooming and the menstrual period. Awesome read!
Rating: Summary: This book is the best of it's kind! Review: My friend told me about this book. My daughter started showing signs of puberty and although we have open communication about it, this book turned out to be a true help. It's on her level and talks about things that I really didn't think about talking about. One area of frustration for me is her lack of wanting to keep her body clean. She has greasy hair and can't go more than a day in between showers, unlike before. So I gave her this book and she was so eager to read it. She picks up the book quite often. I've seen a change it her. What could be better?
Rating: Summary: a great book Review: my daughter is 10 and when i try to talk to her about she always get embarrass when i try to tell her things about her body this book is great it get into everything they have questions about and more.
Rating: Summary: i love it Review: I got this book when I was in fourth grade and my BFF got it too. We always brought it over to each other's houses and talked about it all night! We were so curious about our bodies because our parents never openly talked about periods and stuff. I am in high school now and it really helped me to understand how i should take care of my body and to understand what goes on. If you would like to help your daughter understand how her body works, I HANDS-DOWN recommend this book because it helped me.
Rating: Summary: My daughter could not put it down! Review: My 9 yr old received this for Xmas. She hates to read but read the entire 100+ pages in one day! At her last physical the doctor mentioned she was "developing". This book answered all her questions (or gave her enough food for thought that she came and asked me for more details). What a great introduction for the changes she is about to experience in her life!
It's funny, she would never listen to what Mom had to say about healthy foods to eat or how much exercise she should get but she seems to take the American Girl authors at their word. Highly recommend this one!
Rating: Summary: All You Need to Know Review: A good reference book for preteens that covers issues of puberty and cleanliness. Alright with a more than simple way to explain puberty. But very little on the topic of menstruation, which my little sister could use.
