Rating: Summary: I have very mixed feelings about the book Review: My sister gave this book to my daughter, who's still too young to request it, so I haven't been forced to read it over and over yet; in fact, after reading it to her a couple of times, I decided it would be one of the few books I let her chew on. Yes, it has a wonderful message about unconditional love, but I do find the part about the mother crawling on the floor to her son's bed to rock him very off-putting. Note I'm not claiming it's "sick," I just have a visceral reaction to it and think it's a little too weird. So maybe after the book's slowly dissolved into small pieces (my daughter's a good chewer) I'll sing her the song and forget about the rest.
Rating: Summary: A great book for your kids or your mom Review: This is another one of those books I can't read without having to dab at my eyes. Any loving parent, or child of a loving parent, will recognize the overwhelming love the mother in this story feels for her son. When her son is a newborn, she rocks him and sings to him, "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, As long as I'm living my baby you'll be." When he's asleep, she rocks him and sings him that song through each stage of his childhood. When he's a grown man with his own home, she drives over to his house with a ladder, makes sure he is fast asleep, climbs through his bedroom window, then rocks him and sings to him (my husband thinks this is a little strange, but I'm convinced that there are plenty of mothers out there who would do the same if they thought they could get away with it). The tears come when the mother gets sick, and can't finish the song. Her son then holds her in his lap, rocks her, and sings to her. Then he goes home, picks up his newborn daughter, and sings. The illustrations are a beautiful complement to the story. Not only does the son grow up, but the mother slowly grows older. Her house keeps its old-fashioned look, even down to the rotary phone on her bedside; his house is more modern, with up-to-date kitchen appliances. The mother has a striped cat that appears in several illustrations of the boy growing up. In his house, there is a kitten, that grows into a cat, that turns into a rather large, well-fed cat by the end of the story. Not only am I sharing this book with my kids, but I gave my mom a copy for Mother's Day.

Rating: Summary: Childhood Favorite Review: When I was a child, my mother used to read me this book at nighttime. It was one of my favorites as well as my brother's. I'm currently away at college and far away from home. Yesterday, my friend and I went to the mall and ended up in the bookstore looking at all of our old favorite childhood books. I instantly picked up "Love You Forever" and read it. When I finished the book I found tears running down my face and realized why this had always been both my favorite, as well as my mother's favorite book. It's a classic story of the unconditional love that mother's have for their children and a must have for any parent. I'm trying to start a library of my own for my future children and thought that this would be a wonderful start. I would urge all mothers to read this book to their child, it's something they'll remember and cherish when they grow older - trust me!
Rating: Summary: For loving parents everywhere Review: This story had me choking back the sobs as the tears ran down my face whenI was reading it to my little girl. She loved the pictures, especially the one of the toddler destroying the bathroom, but she also loved the photos of the mom rocking the baby to sleep .... I loved the sentiment and have bought it not only for my freinds with small children, but also for a dear friend whose son is getting married shortly. It really is a touching gift! You will enjoy reading it over and over with your little one!

Rating: Summary: Audience in tears! Review: I read this book for our library read-a-thon last year. I made up a tune to the words "Love you forever, like you for always..." As I read the book outloud to my audience I sang the song each time it appeared in the text. By the end of my reading there wasn't a dry eye in the house. Everyone was so moved by this touching little story! A great book to read aloud!
Rating: Summary: Beautiful Review: Sorry, but I feel I MUST get my two cents in! This book was bought when my two year old picked it out her self, the cover illustration is EVERY 2 yr old. She loves it, I cried outside the bookstore, this book is INCREDIBLY moving. For every mom, new, old etc......A MUST. This book is all about love of a child and how it never goes away. As for any controversy/ 'oddity' in this book, it is sad how we can 'look' into such a beautiful book and make it 'bad' (a child, beleive me, just will see the plain obvious beauty of this book, children are so smart!). Please, for everyone who's ever loved a child, buy it, it will be a book remembered, passed down and cherished by all.
Rating: Summary: Love you forever Review: This is the sweetest book I have ever read for chilren.
