Rating: Summary: Wonderful Book Review: As a graphic designer, I must say that this is one of the mostvisually appealing of all of [the books my child owns]. The picturesare wonderful, the type is perfect and the story itself is catchy and fun to read. I buy all of Ms. Boynton's books because I enjoy the look and content ... even the feel of her books (they're heavy, glossy and durable).
Rating: Summary: Perfect Review: This is my son's favorite book. It is just the right length for a 7month to 1yr plus child. He avidly turns the pages and loves to listen to my wife and I as we read the story aloud. Several of my friends own this book and it has quickly become a favorite. If you are a first time Boynton reader this is the Perfect book with which to start. Your child will love it.
Rating: Summary: Calming rhythmic book, good for babies Review: My fussy baby required that I sing to her to calm her in her first months of life. After reading and re-reading this (and other) books, The Going to Bed Book replaced singing. The rhythmic rhyme was very soothing to my young daughter. Everyone in my family could recite it.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: After reading all of the positive reviews here, I decided to order this book for my two year old son, who loves to read. I must admit, I probably would never have picked it out, but my son absolutely loves it! Everytime we finish reading it, he says, "Mommy, read again." I recommend it to anyone who has a little reader at home.
Rating: Summary: My daughters favorite Review: Wonderful rhyme, great humor. We started reading this to our daughter at 6 months and at 14 months it is still a fav.
Rating: Summary: totally engaging, memorizable Review: My seven month old daugther hated her car seat. I have read this book to her so many times I have it memorized. My husband has it memorized and our daughter now 18 months old has it memorized. It continues to be her favorite book. It has stood up to some really heavy use. The rhymes are great. The imagery is easy for kids to understand, ie. brushing teeth, hanging towels on the wall, taking a bath, exercising, sun setting, saying good night. I cherish this book for helping us survive many long trips between KS and MI to visit relatives.
Rating: Summary: great Review: Me and my husband have been reading this book to my 5 month old daughter ever since the day she came home from the hospital, she just loves the book so much. We made the mistake of leaving it at grandmas house,(who lives out of state) and that night she wouldnt go to sleep, so we had to go out the next morning and barrow my sisters book that she bought for her children, so she would go to sleep !!! She loves the book soooo much, and if you want a great bed time story, pick this one !!!
Rating: Summary: A rescue item for a tired PARENT Review: Our son has loved this book from when he was 6 months to now, at 14 months. The story is very loosely based on a Biblical tale (didn't anyone get the Ark reference?) and simply describes what every child can do before bed, brushing teeth, getting changed, a little play, and bedtime. In addition, we tell the story in two languages and ask him to point out certain animals or to make a teeth brushing motion, which he does with increased accuracy. I recommend it to all the families in my mother's group!
Rating: Summary: Calming Book for Bedtime, But Also Funny and Engaging! Review: Sandra Boynton's colorful board book is a bedtime treat! An assortment of expressive animals gets ready for bed aboard a giant boat. Boynton amusingly shows then bathing, dressing, brushing teeth ("With some on top and some beneath, they brush and brush and brush their teeth."), and exercising together. It closes with the animals settling down for the night: "They rock and rock and rock to sleep." Graced by Boynton's well-known illustrations and rhythmic, lullabye-like poetry, this is a great book for infants and toddlers alike. It's one of those books you'll keep long after the kid(s) grow up.
Rating: Summary: Best Book Ever Review: My two year old loves reciting this book with me as he goes up to bed. The illustrations are adorable. I have been a fan of Sandra Boynton since I was a sticker collector in the eightier., I then laughed over and over to "Chocolate: the Consuming Passion" and now I find her children's books are my children's favorites. Love them all but this is hands down the most popular.
