Summary: This book is good for anyone who have kids.
Review: I liked this book because it motivated me to do things positively than negatively. I would recommend this book because of the way the train is determined to go over the hill to give the toys to all the kids on the other side.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Good for Three Generations ( at least)
Review: I received The Little Engine That Could as a gift for my fourth birthday - and have had the "principle" of "I think I could - I thought I could" as a guide all my long life. Now I need another copy for another grandchild. It is my pleasure to share this, and other, childhood classics with my grandchildren, even if their native language is Hebrew.

Summary: I HOPE MY KIDS REFLECT BACK THE WAY I DO !
Review: I remember reading this book over and over again as a child and feeling a very powerful truth. This is one of the few books for children that teaches you to unselfishly believe in yourself. The pictures in the older edition are as up to date as the lesson they teach.

If you have a child and you want them to believe in themself, this is a great way to encourage them. Please vote if this did help you.

Summary: The little engine that could
Review: I thought the book,The little engine that could is a great books for kids. It encourages them to try their hardest, and if they do, then they can do anything. Also the pictures are really colorful and interesting for little kids, they need to be because kids like to look at the pictures, and they learn a lot from them.

Summary: Which Engine Do You Remember?
Review: I wanted to buy this book for my children because it was my favorite as a kid. However, when I read the book I was surprised because it wasn't what I remembered. After doing research on this, I discovered there was another version of this story, "The Pony Engine" by Wonder Books, which I purchased used. This was the version I grew up with. What's the difference? The "Watty Piper" version makes the good engines girls and the bad engines boys and the version I grew up with does not make any [gender] distinction for the engines. If you are looking for the same book you grew up with, you may want to consider which version you want to read to your kids. Which is the true version? That is debated and you can read about it...

Summary: A Lifetime of Inspiration
Review: I was given this book as a child when i was five years old and i have cherished it since. I am twenty five years old and i still think about the inspirational message this book sends. The illustrations are most memorable and i was fascinated by the colors when i was a child. I still have my copy which i intend to pass on to my children. A must for any child.

Summary: A real crowd pleaser for the train loving set
Review: If I were rating this book based on how much I like it, it would be about a 2 star book! If my son were rating it, it would be 5 plus stars! I always found this story a bit dull and predictable. I was given this book for my son, and read it to him half thinking he would feel the same. Well, from the time he was less than a year old, he loved it very, very much. We read it over and over and over....I think the message does inspire kids, and of course, it's about trains, which alone is enough to make him happy. So I have mellowed on this title, and think it richly deserves a 4 star vote!

Summary: Sure bet as a favorite
Review: Much discussion about the gender of the trains, the significance of which had escaped me, even after reading to my kids over, and over, and over. But very true, nice to have a female heroine. Bottom line - this is a great story and the children respond regardless of their gender. In fact my 2 year old turned into a train lover because of it. We often use the phrase "I think I can, I think I can" when they complain they cannot accomplish something challenging and it does inspire them to try. The illustrations are charming and have a sweet old fashioned quality. Can't miss with this one.

Summary: Perfect! My daughers were both mesmerized.
Review: My second daughter has now fallen in love with this book, at about the same age as her older sister did (3 and 1/2). So, we are reading it every single night, often multiple times. If her older sister is any guide, this will probably continue for about 6 months.

This is simply an absolutely perfect children's story. The plot has some tension to keep the child's interest to the end of the story. The story shows how small people (or trains, if you want to be literal) with a good heart (like a child) can make a big difference in the world. The illustrations are extremely colorful and magical. The only fault (this is incredibly minor) I can find is the one-time usage of the word "indignantly", which no child is going to know. Other than that, I wouldn't change any other word or aspect of this book.

It's also a fun story for an adult to read outloud. I enjoy using different voices for the arrogant Shiny New Engine, the gruff Freight Engine, and the tired Old Engine, as well as helpful Little Blue Engine's famous repetitive cadence ("I think I can").

It will be a sad day when my youngest outgrows this book. Don't deny yourself or your child the pleasure - buy it!
