Summary: Great book, with real longevity of interest
Review: We received this book as a baby shower gift, so our daughter (who is now 9 months) has always had the book. The book is very well done - the artwork is nice, the raised ladybugs are fun, the rhyme is very cute, all that.

What really made the book great for us is that it was one of the first my daughter became actively interested in because of the raised ladybugs. From as early as 4-5 months she was interested in the book, because she could touch the ladybugs. Now, as she's growing, she turns the pages and follows along a little more. As time goes on, she'll grow more interested in the rhyme and the anticipation of completing the rhyme on the next page. It is clearly one of her favorites - it is almost always the first book she pulls out of the shelf, and she'll open it up and start "reading" it herself!

So this is a great book to get early, and a good investment as interest should sustain for quite a while.

Summary: What a fun book!
Review: I gave this book to my baby girl to read when she was 8 months old. She loved to touch the 3-D ladybugs on each page while I was telling the story. She was 11 months old now, she starts to point to the pictures in the book and makes exciting noises. Whenever she points to a picture, I will name the picture for her. After a while she starts to associate certain picture in the book with the names given. The only draw back of the book is that the pages are thinner than the normal board book. Some of the pages are badly bended after 3 months of use. I wonder when it will fall apart. There are other books in the series like 10 butterflies, 8 monkeys, 10 stars, etc., but none of the illustration is as cute as this book. I highly recommend this book for your little ones.

Summary: A favorite in our house, but not as sturdy as a board book
Review: My daughter is a year old and has had this book since she was 8 months. She loves it. I constantly find her flipping through it and she wants it read to her again and again. She is fascinated by the holes as well as the ladybugs. I wouldn't mark the book down for this rating wise, but the pages are not cardboard, just thick paper glued together and unfortunately ours has taken quite a beating over the last 4 months.

If you already like this book and want something similar I recommend the Good Night, Sweet Butterflies book.

Summary: These ladybugs can count!
Review: My mom gave our son this book at Easter, and it has been one of his favorites ever since.

The concept is playful. 10 ladybugs are on the first page, then 9 on the next page, then 8, all the way down to 1. In each case, the missing ladybug looks like it ran into some misfortune. But then, on the final page, we learn that all the ladybugs are reunited and each have a new friend.

Besides the beautiful artwork that covers every 2-page spread, the book has another bonus for young ones. Each of the ladybugs is 3-dimensional, meaning your son (or daughter) can rub their finger across every ladybug's back as you read the book to them. Our son loves to point at each ladybug and say "This one!" as we count them off. He sometimes even tries to count with us, but his numbering system goes 1-2-5-8!

I think that with time, this book will definitely help our son learn his numbers. I'm sure he is already picking up some numbering concepts just by having us read this book, but maybe in a few months he will be able to read the numbers to us instead.

I also want to take a minute to describe the rhymes on each page. Each page has a rhyme that doesn't get completed until you turn the page. I think this is important, because it keeps our son's interest as he rushes to turn the page and see what happens next. I also think the rhymes will stay in his head, and give him yet another way to get familiar with patterns and numbers.

If you have a child who is into reading but hasn't started caring about numbers yet, definitely check this book out! It's a great (and beautiful) choice!

Summary: Really great book for baby
Review: My 2.5 month old watches and goo's at this book! It's fun to read this musical book and my baby just loves to see it! I tried other books but this is the only one she is interested in so far. Great book glad we got it as a gift.

Summary: Sturdy and Smart
Review: Both my kids just LOVE this beautiful book. I bought it for my daughter when she was born. It was her favorite. Now my son has claimed it as his own. They're both under 2 1/2 years old. It's sturdy, educational, fun to read, and colorful. I never get tired of "singing" it to my kids!

Summary: An early favorite
Review: This was the first book that held my son's attention - at 3 months! It still is one of his favorites. Now that he's almost 1 year old, he like to touch the ladybugs and turn the pages. We read it over and over. An excellent book!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good counting book
Review: It's a good counting book with beautiful illustrations and the little ladybugs stuck to the pages. My son's complaint with it is that the ladybugs don't do anything. They're just there for their texture / shape.

Summary: My son's FAVORITE BOOK
Review: My son is 13 months old and absolutely loves this book. He seems to enjoy all books by Melanie Gerth. He hands me this book every night and we read it 2-3 times daily. He loves when I make the different sounds for the animals. this book is wonderful for developing repetition and vocabulary.

Summary: wonderful!
Review: My 3 year old and my 8 month old love this book. They both will just sit and flip through the book. Its a great way to teach them to count backwards. We read this book a bunch of times at bedtime. A must have.
