Rating: Summary: Maniac Magee Review: Hi. The thing I like about this book is that it has a lot of details. For example, Mars Bar is big and slow, and some kids say he carried 100 candy bars with him everywhere he went. Sometimes the story got pretty boring, but other than that it was pretty good. Well that is all I have to say for now. Bye.
Rating: Summary: Mania McGee Review: I read Maniac McGee to my brother and sister every moring before school. My mom read it too and really enjoyed it. Everyone should read it.
Rating: Summary: Maniac Magee Review: Maniac Magee is a book about a boy named Jeffery Magee. Jeffery had to go live with his aunt and uncle because his parents died in a trolly accident. Then one day , Jeffery decided to run away. He ran a long way. While he was running he came to a lot of towns and meet a lot of people like Amanda Beale, Grayson, and lots of others. Jeffery got the name Maniac because he could do things that the other kids that were around him couldn't do or wouldn't do.I really like this book because you never really know whats going to happen next. I think it's a good book for all ages. I think you should read this book. It's really neat.
Rating: Summary: The Boy Who Ran Review: Maniac MageeManiac Magee the boy who didn't go to school. The book I read had a lot of fun stuff in it and a lot to chew on. A boy who can always find love and happiness wherever he goes. Have you ever felt like you just want every one to freeze and leave you alone? Well, that's how Maniac Magee felt, but his name wasn't always that his real name was Jeffery Magee. But when his parents died and he had to go live with his aunt and uncle his life changed. One day he couldn't take it anymore and he ran away to a place called Two Mills. This book made me really want to know more about other books the author wrote. The book makes you want to help people in need. All the characters seam so real. Also it has so much emotion, and information that it makes you want to know more about the world and what you can do to help in real life. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone, this book has a little of everything in it. Also this book is so well written that even if you read it to a little kid they could understand the feeling this book has. I'm not saying the book is too easy it's just very well written. Also this book shows a lot of what life is like for some kids. This book is also a great role model for boys and girls to follow. Know I'm not going to lie and say this book is really great and you should read it because. I'm telling the truth when I say read this book is really great. Also to read with a friend or parent, something you two can share together. This book lives you with a lot of questions, what do you think happened to Maniac Magee in the end.
Rating: Summary: Awsome Review: I really liked the book. I thought the book was clever. I liked how I was able to picture the story in my head. The book was awsome and sad at the same time. I almost cried...I thought I could really relate to some of the things Maniac felt. I liked the idea that there was a lot of detail. I think there should be a sequal. Well anyway the book rules.
Rating: Summary: i can't believe i forgot about this book! Review: While looking up another book(which I also read in elementary school) i saw Maniac Magee suggested also and thought "Hey! I know that book!" I think I was about 10 years old when i read it and I absolutely loved it. I read it until it eventually fell apart. Though now the details are a bit sketchy, what I do remember is that i felt sadness, awe, and hope..not just the first time i read it, but EVERY time. It's books like this that started my whole love affair with books at a young age, and that love affair still continues. I'm now 22 years old and think I may buy this book for my own collection. If you have children, i strongly suggest this book!
Rating: Summary: Maniac Magee Review: Jeffery Lionel Magee, Maniac Magee, is a homeless boy who faces numerous challenges in life. Maniac is simply looking for a place to call home. During his adventures in Two Mills, he wins the admiration of many other kids. He unfortunately comes face to face with the issue of racism, but unlike so many others he sees it in a different light. Maniac always hold his head high and appreciates the little things in life. This book is funny and at times sad. Jerry Spinelli does a wonderful job painting a clear picture of Maniac's life. Thus making the novel very meaningful. He puts Maniac is a unique situation that is very believable. The figurative speech that is used makes reading interesting and understandable. For example, when Maniac is faced with racism he says, "For the life of him he couldn't figure out why the East Enders called themselves black . . . the colors he found were gingersnap and light fudge . . ." Jerry Spinelli's description gives the reader a apparent understanding of how Maniac saw the society he lived with. The descriptions of the atmospheres in the homes that Maniac visits can almost be felt as the dialogue takes place. This allows the reader to feel apart of the novel and understand the feelings of each character. I would personally recommend this book to anyone. It takes the reader through the funny, happy and sad moments of Maniac's life. It even has some eye opening experiences. There is an important lesson to be learned from this novel and Jerry Spinelli shows it in creative ways.
Rating: Summary: Maniac Magee Review: Maniac Magee is an orphan who runs away, and just runs from place to place. He arrives in a town, where he decides to stay for a while and he changes that town forever. He becomes a legend. The author, Jerry Spinelli, introduces Maniac to the reader in the first page and the reader can almost feel what Maniac feels throughout his life. Spinelli is a skilled writer, who really makes the reader think about what a special child Maniac is. Beautiful figurative language is used to envelope the reader in words. The book is also realistic because there are both happy and sad feelings. Maniac lives in a real world. I would recommend this book because it truly changes the reader. It made me realize what a difference one child can really make.
Rating: Summary: MY ALL TIME FAVORITE BOOK....and thats a steep contest Review: Yes I've read Dickens,Austen,Shelley, and dozens of other famous authors. I've read many good quality books. But my all time favorite book remains to be Maniac Magee. I searched for this book just to write the review I love it that much. You already have gotten several plot synopsis so I won't bore you with another. Instead I will tell you that this book brings you from the joys of a kid to the sadness of race struggles. It brought me to tears when I read it in 6th grade (no small feat) and it still does. It may be a confusing book to 4th graders (as stated in other reviews) but to me it has been priceless and meaningful. I would recommend it to adults and to children and to anyone who wants to see how a book can really transport you to a different world and bring you back learning so much more. I read this book 6 years ago and I could never forget it.
Rating: Summary: Okay Book Review: I read this book when I was 10, I think. I don't know, it just seemed a tad tedious. It was good but it felt like it would never end. It was quite confusing too, but I admit the story seemed interesting. I'm not sure I recommend it, but I'm not saying you shouldn't read it either.
