Rating: Summary: Spinelli Nails it with this Award Winner Review: What a book Spinelli has written here. There is no thinking process needed to give this book a 5. Excellent story line with the infamous plot of racism. Maniac Magee is the character who you feel for or can relate to in this great book.
Rating: Summary: Not the Best Review: This book by Jerry Spinelli is not the greatest book. If you re-wrote it with more action it would be a lot better. It's about a boy whose trying to find a home and family. He faces different experinces when his friend dies and he trys to break the barrier between blacks and whites.

Rating: Summary: Maniac Magee Best book ever! Review: Jeffrey's parents were killed in a trolley accident when he was three. He spent the next eight years in the bizarre household of his Aunt Dot and Uncle Dan, who hated each other. They refused to divorce. They lived in the same house without speaking to each other, using Jeffrey as their go-between. Jeffrey screams at them from the middle of a school concert, "Talk to each other!" and then runs away. That's the beginning of his running and his search for a real home. He ends up in the town of Two Mills, two hundred miles away from his aunt and uncle. Two Mills is a town divided by race into East and West End. There Jeffrey becomes "Maniac Magee", the subject of legends that have lasted ever since. In his search for a place to belong, he eventually succeeds to some degree in uniting the town by forcing at least some of the Blacks and Whites to know each other. He lives with Grayson for quite a while and has Thanksgiving and Christmas with him. Then sad to say Grayson dies from a heart attack in the middle of the night. Now that Maniac?s best friend has past away and his parents are gone who can Maniac turn to and where will he sleep and live?
