Rating: Summary: Nice and easy to get to what you need to read about. Review: Very easy format for getting right to what you want to see without a lot of page-turning. I especially like the examples, both in HTML and in the browser. I recommend it whole-heartedly.
Rating: Summary: I wish that all computers books were this useful. Review: No bad jokes, no inept cartoons and a sensible length (in easy to digest) chapters. Probably not suitable for the absolute beginner but for anyone with a familarity with basic html wanting to get up to speed quickly on html 4 extremely good. The chapter on tables I found very useful.
Rating: Summary: Good for beginners AND good reference for experienced Review: Want concrete information delivered clearly and without fuss? Get this book. I give it to people who are just starting out with HTML and keep it by my computer for quick answers to the inevitable little glitches that pop-up. Elizabeth Castro writes clearly and the examples make sense. There are many more expensive HTML books than this on my shelves, but this is the one that gets the most use, day after day. Well done.
Rating: Summary: Coming out of the fog. Review: This is the book that "HTML 4 for Dummies" should have been. Finally I can now view a page source, read the code and interpret it in a flash. And, I can incorporate this knowledge on the sites I've developed easily and ten times more efficiently then with any other source. An unbelievable thank you to Elizabeth Castro for understanding the teaching/learning process. Fred Rosenberg
Rating: Summary: Lacking at every turn! Review: Hype. Pure hype. The book didn't even answer my most basic questions. As for html 4 coverage, I won't even go there. Pass this by. It doesn't even make a good door stop.
Rating: Summary: Great reference and to-the-point info Review: This book is great, and I recommend it to anyone. It clearly explains each topic concisely. It is the best book I've read, not too long, with many good examples to help the reader understand. If you want to learn HTML, you should get this book first, and if you need a quick, inexpensive reference, this is the book for you. This book can be used for HTML designers who are just starting, for intermediate, or for experts as a great reference guide. One way or another, this is your book!!
Rating: Summary: Quick, Clear, and Informative Review: Of all the HTML books that I have seen, Elizabeth Castro's HTML For The World Wide Web is the best. The format is simple and readable with plenty of examples and no wasted words.
Rating: Summary: The Best Book for HTML Programmers of All Skills Review: I work for an ISP. We recommend to all of our clients that if they want to learn HTML, they need this book. It is easy to read, not too big, not too wordy, just pure Internet.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful graphics and clear instruction lists! Review: Elizabeth Castro has a clear way of presenting technical information that made it possible for a computer illiterate like me to learn HTML with her first book. HTML 4 For the World Wide Web goes on to show much more, in the same slim format! The graphics make it easy to understand, and the numbered instructions make HTML possible for anyone.
Rating: Summary: Well organized HTML reference with lots of tips and tricks Review: Just bought this book after spending 8 hours in a bookstore over two days trying to find a good HTML reference book. THIS is it! Short but helpful explanations about each and every tag, most with an example and good quickie reference pages in the back of the book for safe colors, and special characters. This is a book I'll keep within reach for reference, not like some of the other HTML books that are big enough to use as boat anchors (still looking for a GOOD one, email me with suggestions). The most incredible thing is the price. Great value for $15. This is the first QuickStart Guide I've purchased. Love the format and content.
