Rating: Summary: Great Reference! Review: As an HTML beginner/intermediate learner, this book is a great source of reference. It's not exactly the kind of book you'll sit down and read from cover to cover, but using it to look up a particular subject is perfect. It has great explainations and examples.
Rating: Summary: Simple, but what did you expect? Review: I got this book not to learn html, but as a review. I got lazy and used Dreamweaver for awhile and this was a great buy. HTML is the perfect thing to learn with a book like this.
Rating: Summary: Want to build a website? Jump in with Elizabeth Castro!!! Review: Back I'd say two and half years ago when I was 13, my friend started building websites. Well he wasn't really my friend exactly we just had a few good conversations. And he never recommended me what book too get so I winged it and told my parents to get this book HTML4 by Elizabeth Castro.I thank god I picked this book. This gets you right into making your first webpage/website. The book is simply amazing, I was hooked imediatly, it's very easy too understand Castro does a GREAT job of explaining things. It has everything you need to know about HTML. Nesting tables, frames, even some JavaScript, and CSS is also in the book, which I found very useful. The book is also a great refrence book too keep near by. I use it all the time for symbol codes, or how to do a frameset, since I don't use frames that often. I'm 15 now and this book has influenced me to go look for other books by PeachPit, XML, Perl & CGI, DHTML & CSS, JavaScript 3, and the one I just purchased recently Java 2 for WWW. PeachPit and Castro and the whole team do a great job on getting you started right away. I think I would only buy PeachPit Visual QuickStart Guide books!...
Rating: Summary: Awesome Instructions Review: This book has everything you need to build an awesome website! It gives easy examples in both Microsoft, which I use, and Macintosh, as well. It is very informative. I use mine all the time! It has a really easy to use Table of Contents; You can find just about anything you want in a matter of seconds. Thanks to this book, I am well on my way to having a great site. I bought it with "Sam's Learn HTML in 24 hours" book, and combined they really helped me to learn quickly. I suggest both of them, because at some point one book will be really clear on a particular subject, and the other may not. If you plan on making a site, instead of getting some dumb 'do it for you' program, get this book and teach yourself HTML! You will be happy you did.
Rating: Summary: Excellent and quick! Review: this book is really a "visual quickstart guide." I learned HTML very quickly reading this book. I was able to write code within days. And it has about 1:1 pictures to words ratio. This helps a lot. The explanations of the tags are to the point and the diagrams and examples help you understand a lot. I have two other HTML books way thicker than this one, but i use this one for reference allways! It's a very good book. I recommend it for beginners, or for reference purposes for advanced users.
Rating: Summary: solid buy. good for just about everyone Review: Obviously if your an html guru already, you probably won't need this book or maybe you already own this book. I still use this book as a cute little refresher/reference from time to time. I highly recommend it for the novice. However, html 4 is starting to age. Be on the lookout for new web technologoies. -Lee
Rating: Summary: Castro Delivers Structure to Students Review: The author presents the HTML language Tags with pictures and a description of the tags to accomplish your needs. Key words and images are highlighted in red so you may pick them out quickly. Very well written and provides for quick, one-pass comprehension.
Rating: Summary: Buy this one Review: This is a great book for people just learning and its also a great reference for experienced folks who just want to refresh their memory on syntax etc. The chapters are well organized and I can usually find the exact page I'm looking for in less than 10 seconds. I think this book is more useful than other books that are 4 times as expensive and have 8 times the number of pages.
Rating: Summary: Essential Guide for Learning HTML Review: If you're learning HTML, this book needs to be within your reach. It's layout provides examples of code, along with screenshots of what the code is doing. It also does a good job of noting what the differences are between standard HTML and the Netscape/IE flavors. One of the most useful features of this book is the table of HTML tags and associated attributes. It provides a quick reference for beginner and accomplished web designers alike.
