Rating: Summary: Excellent material, but it's beyond big Review: It's fat, I refuse to carry a book this big across the room, let alone take it to read on a trip. Sad to say, but will say goodbye to comprehensive and divide the material up.
Rating: Summary: Easy, intuitive, and fun! Review: As a person resistant to typical classroom learning I hesitated to purchase such a thick reference but within 15 minutes of reading I was navigating Lightwave menus like a veteran. This book guided me through every mouseclick, with screenshots showing me exactly what it was I needed to see while explaining each process in plain English so I could learn the concepts behind what I was doing.Honestly, I went from knowing virtually NOTHING about animation to laying out my own artistic concepts in three days, investing only a couple of hours a day! I got some useful rendered footage after just a week and am confident that Inside Lightwave 7 will keep teaching me as I get further into the application. Typically I don't write reviews but this book really got me going in a direction I didn't think I could go so quickly.
Rating: Summary: THE best Lightwave 3D book Review: At first, the book looks intimidating with it's 1000 plus pages, but once you start to do stuff and see results, you won't be able to put it down. This book will take you from simply applying gloss to a surface , to making Mini Movies and building your own models. In my opinion, the best you can get and I guarentee, once you're done with this book, you'll be a Lightwave master.
Rating: Summary: A really good book Review: I am a Lightwave lover from the first day and finally there is a book at the level of this fantastic program. I supposed all computer related books should be like this one. In the beggining I've feel a little bit intimidated because this book is very fat (in fact it have 1200 pages) but those feelings has been quickly replaced by a very comfortable sensation when I start to read it...and let me say something I'm start to feel sadness thinking in the moment when I will finish it. Can you believe it? Inside LW7 Is a very good source of information for intermediate Lightwave users but the best of it is not the information indeed is the way the autor explains everything, you have to read it to understand what I'm talking about. Rating: Summary: Downright Awesome! Review: I can't believe I like a computer book. I hate computer books - but Dan Ablan's Inside LightWave 7 (and his version 6 book) are so well written, so full of information, so insightful that I feel empowered! Get this book! You've read the other reviews - they can't be wrong. Go. Go now. Learn!
Rating: Summary: If you need just one book... Review: ... this is the one. 'Nuff said. You won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: IT's THE BEST BOOK I BOUGHT IT TILL NOW FROM AMAZON Review: I'm a 3ds max animator, and i've a job to do it using lightwave 7 after many research, i found this great book, and in one week i was able to create an object then animate it in a software, usually i don't use it... Mr Ablan explain the software in a way that you'll understand every option or menu in this software from the first time you touch this book.we must add a new rate for this book a 10+.
Rating: Summary: This Book Saved the Day! Review: Dan Ablan's book has already saved me lots of time. I had a project requiring some techniques that I had never used, and didn't know where to start. The tutorial on blowing leaves came to the rescue! I learned how to use objects with partical animation and collision in less than an hour. It was easy to modify what I learned to finish my animation in a couple hours! I was delighted to get such great results in such a short time. And on top of having great tutorials, the plug-in definitions alone are worth the price of the book.
Rating: Summary: I didn't want to give this book 5 stars... Review: This book deserves 10 stars! I'm not one to praise technical books, but somehow, Dan Ablan has broken through the barrier. He has successfully (and this is not the first time) brought clear and concise examples - real world examples - of a complex 3D application to the user. Plain and simple... that's it. He doesn't take himself too seriously which I think is what brings out the personality of the teacher. This book is a fooler. Sure, it's big. Sure, it's full of information. It'll make you scratch your head wondering how you can get through it all and learn so much. But then, before you know it - you're using the software. You're creating - not figuring it out. Unbelievable. I've just signed up for hands-on training at Dan's studio, and now have ordered his "class on demand" training videos. I highly recommend this book (or any of Dan's others) to you. Sincerely, Steve
