Summary: Amazing
Review: This book is one of the first references I have found on SQL that doesn't spend 75% of the book discussing simple Select, Update and Delete statements. This book covers a lot of areas that makes it easy to find what you want in one source. I would be hard pressed to find a better book on this subject.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Joe provides the most readable book on the subject
Review: This book is packed full of useful information and solutions but is written in an easy to read style. Having trawled through endless treacle thick SQL dirges, how nice it is to find a readable book. I recommend this book to anyone using SQL in their daily work. Don't miss it!

Summary: An introduction to advanced SQL
Review: This is a good book when used correctly: as an introduction to advanced database topics for someone who is already comfortable using SQL for "normal" problems. It is not a manual, a textbook, or an introduction to SQL. There are many parts of this book that I did not understand at all the first time I read them, but that I understood and found useful later when I returned to the book in the hope of getting ideas for a particular problem. Also, this book does not shy away from providing useful suggestions for procedural algorithms in areas where standard SQL is not enough. A few thought-provoking technical books like this are a good addition to a technical reference library.

Summary: new edition of a classic <g>
Review: This is a new edition which expands the programming tips from the first edition and removes the theoretical content (theory is now covered in DATA & DATABASES).
