Rating: Summary: Does it get any better? Review: Just walked into my local book shop, managed to find the 'computer' section... These days, the shelves are overloaded with thousands of books, but the one really stood up to me was Flash 5 Bible! The big and fat book has everything you even need to learn from buttons to pre-loader movies! If you're a beginner at this stuff, i recomment do get it now! No, actually i am telling you to get it now, you wount believe how good it is! This is my third day using it, and i already started on a project, going all smoothly, it just shows that this book is a must for any flash user! I thank the authors for publishing this excellent book! Where would i be without it? Ermmm, stuck in my room trying to figure out how to add actionscripts!
Rating: Summary: All Bibles Are Not Created Equal Review: I'm a college student studying web development and internet graphic design, and based on the quality of another "Bible" book I had recently purchased, the Photoshop 6 Bible - Gold Edition, I jumped at the Flash 5 Bible as soon as I saw it available. This book has turned out to be one of the worst instructional books I've ever read. The numerous grammar mistakes are bad enough, but the exercises themselves are full of mistakes, like this book was rushed straight past the editor and out the door. In one exercise, they refer to a movie clip, but fail to mention which movie clip in the library they're talking about! The Flash 5 Bible is a complete waste of time and money.
Rating: Summary: Avoid at all costs!!! Review: Having read some of the bad reviews of this book, I was somewhat alarmed when it was chosen as the text by our local college for the beginning course in Flash. As a beginner I plowed through it, but found it lacking. No clear examples, some things are only half-explained, and there's no reasoning and theory here as to why you need to do something. Also, the chapters were all over the place, and I feel that as a beginner you should learn first things first, in order, with explanations WHY you need them. The first ten chapters of this book are devoted to interface alone...big deal! Doesn't help me learn the software! The Sham Bagal books are better...one student used them to help her understand THIS tome! Plus it doesn't convey how much fun Flash is. It really did not help me that much (even the Visual Quickstart Guide is more readable), but I'm still learning Flash by myself, with DIFFERENT books this time, and have done more in the two weeks that class has been out than I did all semester!
Rating: Summary: Only average Review: This book is a good overall learning tool if you know nothing about Flash. However, if you have read some of the help files and done the lessons inside the Flash help menu you can skip about 40% of this book. If you want every little detail (including common sense) spelled out for you, you'll love this book. If you want to get to get the most out of Flash without days of slow moving rhetoric, then get something else!
Rating: Summary: Better than most... Review: While I will agree with some reviews that there are errors in some of the exercises, I have to admit that I was wonderfully grateful for the immediate support that Robert gave me. I emailed him questions and concerns about some of the exercises (and some of my own problems), and he emailed back within 20 minutes. He's also on ICQ a lot of the time, and he recently set up a forum at flashsupport.com to post new examples, as well as corrections to the text and files in the book.
Rating: Summary: Buy it used "Beginners Only" Review: If you using flash for the 1st time this book is good for you. It will give you all that you need to understand flash 5. The book speaks for it self. Is like going to your local library and pickin' up all the refrence that you need to build a dynamic web site. Like the title says for beginners only...
Rating: Summary: ...just like reading Flash.kit tutorials Review: If you have some basic knowledge of Flash, you may skip this book.Action scripting part is fairly god, but thats all. This book is only for begginers, and I mean apsolute begginers :)
Rating: Summary: Flash-Everything you need to know Review: This book has everything you would possibly want know about Flash. It covers all aspects of the vast program in depth. Most other books vaguely describe merely one aspect of the program, leaving the reader pondering about Flash's true potential. Web intergration, animation, action scripting, and interactivity are just a few of the topics informatively covered by authors Reinhardt and Lentz.
Rating: Summary: Get deep into Flash... (concepts and explanations) Review: This book is more about the hardword or coding of Flash's action script. It gives a general idea of all the aspects of flash and explains how they work and interact. It covers implementation of other programs works into your flash movies and thigs like that... If you want to learn Flash, really learn about it. This is the book you need. Go for any skill level. Better or faster to read if you have some skill already.
Rating: Summary: Don't waste time and money Review: I feel like I am reading a theory book with unclear example. I wasted my money for this book.
